    Roddy Peters?

Transfers like this are a roll of the dice and all we can hope for is that he turns out more like KG and RAJ.

As far as taking up a scholarship slot, we weren't supposed to have  any available at this point to begin with so not sure how hard they were recruiting for this year anyway. I'd be pleasantly surprised if they even fill the last one.

Well I suppose that's true, but then again I was hoping even when we added Manderson that we would keep that schollie for a true fresh. I just hope it pans out because our Junior class is gigantic and that's going to be a tough class to fill in for.

Just sweet for me. When was the last time we pulled in a recruit of his caliber? I'll take him getting a year to acclimate, grow, and bang bodies with our guys in practice for a year. Working up against a 6-11 guy who can move a little can only make us better.

I hear you, I was just excited to try to pull a few of the true fresh being recruited like LJ Figueroa. Now we have one schollie. So I'm hoping this doesn't limit us too much.

  3. I saw the up and down votes here more like reputation points on other forum threads. As rep for agreed upon statements and topics and down for disagree (vehemently essentially) and the like.

And for the record, even though I'm primarily a Bulls Basketball follower, I said we needed to ride QF when we were doing the MW thing. :icon_drink:

  4. Most here know where I stand on COA. Yes, I'm going to get all into actual basketball things for those who care for more than bashing. Losing Perry is a terrible hit for us. I said at the couclusion of our tourney that we will need Perry's experience and post play to be an effective team this coming season. His dismissal leaves us depleted at the 4 and rotation at the 5 for small sets. We will have to play small ball which may work, for this team, but only time will tell.

As for if COA stays, if he has a sub 500 record they oust him. If he floats above that it might buy him room (I'm thinking depending on the recruiting class).

unlike football, basketball is a very fluid with transfers. two scholarships open means that COA has the opportunity to bring in two quality players.

Can't do that because if we do we won't have schollies for incoming freshmen.

  5. Men's BB- I heard Malik Martin was supposed to be visiting. It was cited in another post as well. But other than that it's been quiet. I wouldn't mind saving the schollie for a freshman incoming since the only scholarship players that are seniors are Geno and Perry. So if we don't have a shot at landing a home run like the point AJ Harris, by all means let's take the chance to land a true freshman.

  6. I only got to see the last few minutes of the game and they were intense! Marcus Paige draining the double clutch...gorgeous. Then the three on the other side...ice cold.

However, as nature tends to do, once it was over I found myself thinking about our team next year. I have seen Malik Fitts and Troy tweet each other and one suggests they have each other's phone number. Team chemistry is important to a young squad with a lack of experience in the locker room. If they can bring that chemistry on to the floor and turn it in to good timing and learning each other's habits early it would be tremendous.

Yeah, I'm sure they will be playing center next season, especially earlier on, but they aren't necessarily perfect for the position, and they would be better at power forward I think. Who knows though, if coach decides to run a small lineup with one of these guys at center and Baxter at PF, they could get up and down the court very quickly which is what he is trying to do.

A comment after my own heart.

The only true centers we have next year are Manderson who comes in during conference play, and Guerrero, so I think getting another true center will help us more than getting a guard, which barring injury we should have plenty of.

I don't know why I've been thinking Tulio is taller than he is. I mean I think more is better either way, which is why I mentioned him as a hopeful target as soon as I saw his transfer. But you are right, Perry, Santos, and Tulio are all 6'8-9.

Actually, he was included with the 2015's which I guess was wrong because he never showed up on the roster like Thorpe did.

I was being sincere, every time I have found good recruiting info it's already been posted. More often than not it has more info than I initially come across so it's a great reference.

And as far as he goes, word of his mid season transfer didn't excite me  too much either.

Yea, let's compare him to the best shooter of all time and the best point guard in the league right now, not to mention McBuckets is still 2inches shorter than Curry. I had a feeling someone was going to mention Curry. Someone always has to mention the most unrealistic comparisons.

Well then, although I'm pretty sure the comparison was not meant to compare to that extent, I'll offer up appropriate alternatives for the lad. Alternatives that McM can grow into even if not there yet.

Ty Lawson- speedy, can shoot the three, has a tough time in the lane but has the hops to put it down.

DJ Augustin- Can also jump shoot but not the best. Good court vision

Brandon Jennings- 6 footer, puts the three up in a hurry and has been pretty good at it (until rupturing his something or other). Has better handles than McBuckets yes. But again, time for growth.

Smaller guards that can shoot and handle well are a valuable enough commodity.
