Am I the only one seeing the trend? So far, it’s all white guys. If this is the coaching staff he is assembling, how is he going to convince black parents to send him their kids? IMO this doesn’t appear to be an inclusive coaching staff especially since he is planning on leading a team full of black players.

This seems like a fair question considering we have a coaching staff with no history of recruiting prowess. A team that has a recent history of being a cellar dweller that hasn't been to a bowl game in 4 years. While the diversity and makeup of our coaches might not be the primary reason a recruit doesn't come here it could factor in with all of the other issues we have.

One thing I've noticed on this board in general...

The reaction to this hire is so much more cautionary that the previous hire.

I agree that CJS caused some of this but think about all of our last coaches, they all had different backgrounds. This current one has an almost identical football background to our CJS who failed so much we fired him with multiple years on his contract. We can say there are intangible things that are different but football wise, it's currently the same.

    Then there are these pieces:

    1. VPMK says we are looking for a coach with HC experience and Florida recruiting ties. Then he hires someone's with no HC experience and limited Florida recruiting.

    2. Goach then says he is getting the best DC in the country and hires a middle of the road DC on a team that just got their HC fired.

    3. Much of the new staff are also very new to their jobs/GAs.

I'm sure everyone will work out fine and we will win a ton of games but if we had hired like VPMK said, hired a stronger DC, and filled the staff with more experienced people, I bet the skepticism would be lessened.

That D grade may be a bit harsh but not completely out of line. He’s basically guilty until proven innocent at this point. He’s taking over a program that’s been reduced to nearly complete irrelevance. And he has not been a head coach yet. Neither was Josh Heupal (sp?) before they went to UCF together.

Oh totally agree, but I also feel like our fans can criticize the hire but others need to wait and see. That same CBS article rated the Scott Satterfield as a C+ or something which is strange after a middling coaching stint in another P5.
