To those pissin and moanin they also kicked in $20k last Saturday to the Selmon Mentoring Institute.  Let's see how long it takes our $23 fund to get to that $20k mark.  They had given 1 million to International Studies a few years ago.  She and Steve are wonderful people, love USF and are beyond generous.  If you don't like that they didn't give the $20 million to Athletics I suggest you do it.

They’ve given more than she has earned from USF.

Here’s another $1 million they donated last year.

    Agreed.

Cuse would be odd. I think she has a good friend who plays there, but it doesn't make much sense otherwise. There are only three reasons in my mind to transfer at this time: 1. Family issue - like getting closer to a sick relative. 2. She absolutely wants to get away from USF for whatever reason. 3. Play for a National Championship. (for other players, another reason is to seek playing time, but that wouldn't apply here)

One last thing - She may not be transferring. That just could be a back up plan in case her real plan doesn't work out, like playing pro in Europe for a year.

This will be interesting to watch.

Reason numba 4.. Graduate School choice.

We got a few 4 star international recruits coming in. From the photos I saw they look grown. we should be ok. I wish her the best.

How many rated international stars have arrived in Temple Terrace, and wound up spending more time on the bench injured or otherwise, than on the floor playing?

My theory is that Judy was the driving force behind the new logo.  My guess is everybody on staff thought it was not necessary to change it, but at some point you have to do what the CEO says you have to do.  I’m sure having a new CEO made it easier to roll this back before it was too late.

So, I take it that you don’t consider $100,000,000 later, too late.  BTW, what make you think that Joe Hice did’t think it was necessary to change the logo?

USF won’t have a new CEO until July 1st.

Ok, Joe just took the bullet for his team sometimes a management position sucks. Yes they screwed the pooch on this one but...what's done is done hopefully all can move on. Of course $$ money was wasted on this idea but far less than one of the bad coaching hires of the past I'm sure. The POSITIVE out of all this??  We had a "united voice" that forced a change. We all felt strongly about our Bull's U logo and what it represents to us. If that power were a constant just think what could be attained at USF. We are one university with one logo..... Go Bull's !

**now I think marketing needs to take an amount equal to what they spent on this ahhh, idea.. out of their budget and donate it to the Football Facility...yeah yeah, I like unicorns too. :04-rock:

Joe and “his team” should have their right to vote taken away, and only restored if and when they make full restitution to USF.

    Dear USF community:

Last Fall we introduced a new academic logo for the University of South Florida that we believed was a positive representation of our pride and optimism. This new logo featured the image of a bull and was meant to help usher in a new era for USF and to celebrate the incredible momentum we have built over the past 63 years.

As you know, there has been a great deal of controversy over the bull image and the new color palette. We heard this from many of you over the past six months through email, on social media and in person. We know that the feedback comes from a place of great pride and passion for USF, and we have listened. As a result, we have decided to stop using the new bull logo. Instead, we will adopt the “Iconic Bull U,” which has been used by USF Athletics for almost 15 years, to represent the entire university. We will also return to the traditional green-and-gold color palette of the university. Implementation of the changes will begin immediately and continue throughout the summer.

    USF Bull U icon

Think of what we have accomplished under the Bull U, the students we have attracted, the faculty we have attracted. We became preeminent and were awarded for our performance. We raised more than $1 billion. We created an ever-improving culture of student success and academic achievement. We are building one of the most significant projects in the university’s history, the new USF Health Morsani College of Medicine and Heart Institute in downtown Tampa, and the story continues.

We wouldn’t be Bulls if we didn’t take risks. That’s part of our nature; to push boundaries; to venture in new directions; to try new things. Even if we have to turn back, we grow and we learn.

    And we have learned.

The new “A Future Without Limits” marketing initiative will continue with the “Bull U” logo. It is already paying dividends. Since we launched the effort this Spring, the USF story has been featured in print and digital media throughout the nation and around the world. More than 25 million people have seen our ads. They are taking notice and asking to learn more about USF.

Thank you for your passion for USF. As our most ardent supporters, you play a huge role in advocating for our continued success. We hope we can continue to count on that support through this transition and into the future.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and thank you for all you do on behalf of our great university.

    GO BULLS!

    Joe Hice
    Vice President Communications and Marketing

    Be nice Mr Hice...resign!

When the dome reopened I thought those boxes were about $30k for the year since it included concerts, games, etc.  I may be totally misremembering.  In fact I may be thinking about a survey for an OCS and what would you be willing to pay.

Back in 2012,  I was offered the “deal” on a loge box.  I believe it was $35K/year for a 6 seat box with a 3 year commitment.  I think that included Men’s & Women’s Basketball, but only right of first refusal for other events.

good lord... that's simply amazing. Its been four years since this announcement. I wonder the fundraising is going for this.

Not sure, but the project is being done in stages to allow the stadium to be open during football season.   I was there last year for the Bob Stoops statue unveiling, and what has been completed is awesome.

Yeah but it was the mother of all upgrades as it cost  $165 million which is the cost of a brand new stadium for many. It’s not too far off from what our administration proposed.

I’m not sure who the mother of all upgrades is, but it’s that’s not even close.

"No!" ?-- wasn't expecting such a terse reply.

Didn’t see the need for more than Yes or No.

I guess my simple questions offended you.

    LOL

What years did you go to USF?

    Never was a USF student.

You know things were not always as they currently are set up.

    I’m well aware of that.

The Corral did not exist when I went to those volleyball games.

    When was it built?

The Rec Center was just finished when I finished my graduate work 1992.

Was that the old Rec Center, or the new one next door?

One of my first memories of USF was in that very same gym- where we signed up for classes - in 1985 (the lines were exhausting).

    Where was it located?

The part of the Sun Dome that was used -- I never even knew that existed but we played on it in the late 1980s. We used to have intramural hoops in the old gym (I assume that still exists - building directly across from the Social Sciences building).

The Bill Young ROTC building is directly across from SOC...the old Rec Center is south of that.  Women’s BB played in the old Rec in 2011, while the Sun Dome was being remodeled.

Back to the SunDome-- Who knew they could retract those huge sections?

I did...when you walked into the arena for basketball games it was quite obvious.  I also saw them folding them up immediately after basketball games to get ready for other uses.  They also converted the mid level sections behind the east basket into the Cabana, with couches and tables before they did the remodel .

Made sense when I think about how they shook like HS bleachers going up them for basketball games in the dome. They also used this area for a career fair I went to as well. I cannot believe they completely removed it but I have not been in the YC/Sun Dome since probably 2007 (before the renovations). The last intramurals I participated in were wrestling in the Sun Dome in 1992 on the main floor-- that was kind of cool. My guess is they had to have it there due to construction of the new rec center

anyway-=-- fun memories of all the old haunting grounds of old USF

So wait.. I thought it was Tampa's fault for not supporting the school? Now you're placing the blame on the students?

Since you brought up the student population I guess now is a good time to point out that DePaul's market has well over 3x the population of USF's.

How many of that population are DePaul grads or otherwise connected to the University?
