    Both are

I said potential team distraction. There's likely a lot of guys on the team that had deep personal relationships with McClain. You may have some upset that he didn't win the job, you may have some upset because he's leaving in general, etc. Instead of complete and total focus on the upcoming game.

Why do I think Timmy could've won 4 games this year too? Because he was going to get better and they brought in a lot more talent through transfers for the upcoming season. Are you telling me McClain couldn't beat 4 of these with another year to get better and a better roster in general? Howard, East Carolina, Tulane, Temple, Tulsa?

  2. Scott better hope that Bohanon is good enough to take this team to 6 wins this year. Because if we're a 4-8 or 5-7 football team, I'm very confident McClain would've gotten us to about the same record. Then you have 1 year left of Bohanon in a downgraded conference and we're right back to needing a QB after 2023 instead of sticking with McClain who could've blossomed and had through 2024. On top of that, if it costs us Horn and we only go 4-8 or 5-7 it'll have been an absolutely miserable decision. 6-6 or better and on from there all worth it.

Everyone knew Bohanon was the starter from the second he transferred. Scott said he knew whoever was named the starter the other was going to transfer. Because he waited so long to do it we have 3 weeks to get prepared with Bohanon as the guy and a potential team distraction because Timmy just transferred.

If GRIT scores actually matter we should have one of the best QBs in the country.

    i can i can

when you dont have talented dbs

the defense is designed not to give up the big play

it is frustrating to say the least

you cant play aggressive when your dbs cant cover and cant tackle

You can't play aggressive on a small number of plays throughout the game? On 4th downs when they need 4 or 5 yards they can't push up a bit? Can't have your corners play press coverage and still have safeties deep in case it goes wrong? It feels like we rush 3 90% of the time, so dropping 8 into coverage, we can't find a way to be a tiny bit aggressive in certain spots? On the last drive of the game, down 12, with 2 minutes left our cornerbacks were back pedaling on the snap of the ball after already lining up 6 -7 yards off the WR when there was no way in hell ECU was throwing the ball. The game was over at that point, but it's small things like that where you have to wonder what is going on from a coaching standpoint. Offensive Coordinators have a very easy job against us. We'll give them a 7-8 yard pass every play if they want it.

Why unfortunately.  Maybe he actually, you know, improved.  You know, some people actually improve what they do through hard work and determination.  Watching McCloud bowl over a UCF defender told me everything I need to know about his desire and character.

As far as Bryce Miller, this team needs more Bryce Millers, not less.  A guy that worked himself up from the bootstraps and is a valuable, hard working team guy.  Oh, and one that can catch the football as well.  Dude can play.

Never mentioned anything about his desire and character. He seems like a fantastic kid based on everything I've read and seen. That doesn't mean he has the talent to take USF anywhere significant which is my viewpoint on him as a QB.

Unfortunately because I don't see that one game and forget about the rest of the games I've watched him play QB. This is his 3rd year in college football with 1 of them being a redshirt. His career TD/INT is 21 to 10. Of those 21 TDs, 7 of them have come against South Carolina State, Citadel, and Uconn. I just don't think he's very good. Again, I would like nothing more than for him to prove me wrong and become some awesome QB for us, but I just can't ignore the entire body of work.

I like Bryce Miller haha. I simply pointed out he's not an All-American college receiver and HE'S NOT.

Funny how that defense only allowed 38+ points to only one other team this year.
I get the McCloud hate though. Some would rather be right about McCloud sucking than seeing USF have success

🙄. Okay. I don't think that was a very good defense on the field, but if you think they were then alright. I would like nothing more than for McCloud to prove me wrong I just have very little confidence in him after watching him stink for such a long time.

Worst hot take in years. Too bad you had to chop down the player who was the best wide out, has more heart than anyone on the team, and is the poster child for perseverance and determination. If we had more players like this kid we would not be in the **** mess we are in.

Haha what? I appreciate Bryce Miller and like him plenty, but he's not some stud All-American WR. Relax. The point I was making is McCloud has been bad essentially his entire career and will be our starter in 2021 because he actually showed up against a swiss cheese defense. I give credit to both of those guys. They played their asses off, but I'm not excited about watching more Jordan McCloud football. I still think he's more like the player the previous 18+ (or however many) games than this past one.

This team has 4 QBs and three of them are injured or out.  It is his fault that McCloud is the only QB left?  That is absurd.

By the way, McCloud is a great kid.  Would love to see him move to another position next year.  He has been jerked in and out of the lineup, pretty clear he isn't the future here, and he always jumps in with both feet and keeps talking to other players even when he is out of the game.  We could use more guys like him.

McCloud is a fantastic kid, but everyone else is 100% correct. He is just not a good enough QB to be playing at the D1 level. We lack talent everywhere except RB, but at this point it's clear and he shouldn't play another down as QB for USF past 2020. IMO he shouldn't play another down of football for USF in 2020, but I get it with limited rosters due to players unavailable. If Jordan Smith/Marsh are healthy and availalbe they should be playing.

  8. Teams only really lose the way we did on Friday, even to really good teams, for a few reasons. One, is having no talent at all. We know that's not the case. Not saying we are loaded, or even good, but we have some talent. The other is complete dysfunction by coaching. Strong hasn't had a good season as a head coach in 7 years. He got lucky having a great college QB Teddy Bridgewater carry him for a few years at Louisville. Embarrassed to say I thought it was a good hire at the time. Only makes sense that he wouldn't be very motivated here going to G5 after having a top 10 job in the country at Texas. We can only hope Kelly has the guts to make the right decision after this season and bring in a good coach.

The early games, vanilla proxy, has been used so many times over the years as an avenue of hope, but never have I seen one of our teams that seemed to be going the vanilla route, shift gears and go full on Neopolitan  when the conference slate started.  It is what it is I am afraid and at best it might be Rocky Road.

We saw it two years ago. We were 1-3 after Memphis and then Taggart opened it up like crazy and unleashed QF. Saved his job. Not saying we can expect it again, but hopefully someone on that coaching staff speaks up about this garbage.

  10. Seems like Gilbert doesn't understand how to use QF. Just watch some tape from last year and see how Willie used him. Basically unstoppable. Hopefully he makes a **** adjustment heading into next weeks game. I think I've seen 1 play in the first two games that were designed qb runs. That's not nearly enough when that is his strength.

I hope QF speaks up and tells him this week to implement some of the stuff they ran last year. The wrinkles Willie had in that offense were beautiful. Bubble screen, then bubble screen pump fake with the WR taking off on a go route, etc.

I don't understand why they kept just running into a massive pile of defensive lineman again and again  in the middle or  how bad the offensive line was picking up blitzes.

Exactly. They had 7-8 in the box consistently and were daring us to throw the ball. Gilbert just continued to call the read option or inside hand off.

Don't think we ever were a program that could compete with ANYONE in the country. I think the best we ever have done is our 1s matching up with the other teams 1s for a half, but depth always has been an issue when competing with the big boys. I'll grant the exception to WVU where we weren't getting mauled on the lines.

Yesterday, we just got beat at just about every position but couldn't exploit the one match up in our favor which was our WRs against their DBs.

True, well you have a different opinion than me. The team that beat FSU @ FSU in 2009 had like 14 NFL players just on defense. Sounds like pretty good depth to me. I think that team could "compete", not win, compete meaning put up a fight against just about any team other than maybe a handful of teams in the country that year. I also said just about anyone in the country, not everyone. Looks like I got way ahead of myself as I'm sure many more did.
