Is anyone here a part of the club teams or intramural Ultimate (frisbee) teams at USF? I'm going to be a freshman next year, and want to play. At best I would make C team (if there is even a C team...hah), so I was thinking more of intramural.

Are the people who play ridiculously talented, or terrible, or in between? I've been playing for about a year now, and I'm not really in shape, but I can still throw and catch well. So I'm basically asking if the intensity level is super high or if it's really chill and laid back.

Thanks for anyone who hopefully knows

My experience with intramurals was it depended on who you played with.  If you were there to have a good time and they were too then it didn't matter how it ended up or your skill level.  If you were in a frat they took it very serious and it was not as much fun, unless of course you were with us and you were winning :D

Outrunner on this board is/was heavily involved with the Ultimate team, he'll be able to tell you all you ever wanted to know about the USF program.

Yes, I was the president from 2007 to 2009, but I've stepped back a bit to focus on school.  The club is a competitive team organization, traveling to tournaments in Florida and a few in the South. We have an A and B team. The A team (Scallywags) is for the best players and is by tryout, the B team (Scourge) is the developmental team.

As for intramural ultimate, it is run separately from the club through Campus Rec, and its a bit of a joke in terms of rules and organization.

If you're really interested in playing, you'll want to get in contact with our current President Seth Richards at our email, ultimate.usf@gmail.com.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Don't hate it till you've tried it.  There's a reason why its one of the fastest growing sports in the world.

I've played it. Many times. Still think its frisbee. Rather play football, softball, basketball, or rugby.

There's a pretty sweet Frolf course that goes through the woods at Lettuce Lake Park, or atleast there was 10 years ago. You could "tune up" there if you wanted to.

What is the point of ultimate frisbee?  I don't know the rules or anything.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
