Thanks for stating the obvious.  This is why they are not being looked at ahead of everyone else in expansion talk.  If USF had a 100 mill athletic budget you would see the sec and acc scrambling to add them.

we need to dump the BE and go independent. we don't need revenue.

playing stoney brook 12 times a year would give us more revenue.

FSU and Miami built their programs from nothing by being independent.they played anybody, anywhere, anytime.

they didn't worry about revenue. Only the ones collecting that revenue would make you believe you need it in order to be successful.

Play 6 top 20 programs a year. 4 away and 2 at home(that's essentially signing 2-1 with top 20 programs)

Play 4 games against mid-tier programs. 2 away and 2 at home.

play 2 home games against cupcakes.(paydays)

please don't say anything about the BE crappy bowls. we barely break even on those anyway.

Independence would be a scheduling disaster for everyone but football.  That's why even ND has a home for nonfootball teams.

Also, independence would mean no more BCS, and probably a BE invite for ucf.  So we would be recruiting against the Big 3 and a BCS ucf team.  Throw in your scheduling and we are looking at between 4-8 and 8-4 most years with an occasional 9 win team.  We would not go to any bowl unless someone could not fill all their slots.  None of this is conducive to building a fanbase.

Two points:

1... Thanks for stating what has already been WELL KNOWN, and VERY OBVIOUS.

Doesn't take much research or insight to know that.

2... How much have you, or are you going to, contribute(d)?

I'm tired of all this conference crap. I know leaving the BE is unrealistic. Our athletic department wouldn't give up the revenue. There are plenty of non football conferences however. We could rejoin our old conference mate UNCC. Perhaps we could even make the basketball tourney once in awhile. 8-4 is no different then our current records. Of course we would be playing much better opponents though. And I don't care about going to a bowl vs. Memphis or NIU. We don't make any money anyway. There is only 1 bowl that matters and that's the mythical national championship.

As a fan , I would much rather see a regular season schedule like this. Maybe college athletics should be about entertaining alumni and donors instead of grabbing every last dollar.

Bull 94 GETS IT!  Football runs athletic programs anyway so the rest of the programs fend for themselves anyway.  The greatest coach in NCAA football history, Bobby Bowden built FSU football that way, with agates.  This cowardly SEC BS playing OOC cupcakes and avoiding strong OOC competition makes me puke.  When was the last time UF played a WVU, Texas A&M or Rutgers?

I would say Holtz could do it too, just knock off the Stoney Brooks and add one or two more heavies.  Play a Nebraska and a Michigan, plus UF and a UCF plus our seven in-conference games in the BE makes 11 and play another lower tier Big 12 team like Kansas.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
