USF President Judy Genshaft and Athletics Director Doug Woolard spoke

with members of the USF Board of Trustees at a regularly scheduled Board

meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 16.

Their comments to the Board of Trustees are summarized in the following

statement.

The University of South Florida was informed on Monday of allegations

about football coach Jim Leavitt made in a web article. These were

serious allegations, and that day USF President Judy Genshaft and USF

Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Doug Woolard convened a university

and external review.

Thomas Gonzalez, an external expert specializing in workplace issues, is

working in conjunction with Sandy Lovins, USF's Associate Vice President

for Human Resources. Woolard and President Genshaft agreed on Monday,

that USF engage the external reviewer to work in conjunction with the

university.

Coach Leavitt was contacted on Monday. On Tuesday morning at 9am, he met

with Sandy Lovins. Reviewers also met with the student athlete named in

the original story. Gonzalez and Lovins will conduct additional

interviews throughout the process.

USF is committed to a prompt and fair review of these allegations. Once

the fact-finding report is complete, it will be issued to the President

and to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics.

neither shelton nor henderson said there wasnt an investigation...they just said that the investigation needs to move FAST and USF needs to keep the public informed

Some are getting nervous he might not get fired for McMurph's hit piece and are resorting to previous lines of attack.

I guess that is a good sign.

I wont be suprised if USF issues a statement saying that they are going to look at some legal issues concerning the reporting at Fanhouse. I am still waiting on the NCAA investigation that was ongoing in the mens's hoops program.

we blame those falsehoods on brett but that assistant coach did in fact say those things to brett. 

i guess as a real reporter you should do more work and try to find some more info...maybe talk to the player or the players family.

however, what brett reported on wasnt exactly false.  he just used a poor source.  and that is Bretts MO.

but dont say he made that up.
