On a side note, even when our DBs get good pass coverage they get flagged.

You guys seem to forget:

1.  Banks was supposed to be our starter this year.

2.  We went after Brent Schaeffer and Cornelius Ingram.

3.  Although Julmiste was aweful, he wasn't out there trying to cover Cincinnati receivers.

4.  There were too many drops by the receivers.

And QB Kraky was suppose to be the 2nd coming.

Sometimes its the unknown/lesser ranked QB recruit that eventually gets the job done on the college level.

There's a difference between what the coaches know - and what they say to the 'outsiders'. I'm certain there are volumes of intel that stay within the confines of the offices...not for external consumption.

Here's the deal sportsfans, like it or not , USF does not garner top of the heap talent. Those boys are still going elsewhere. Banks, Kraky and Julmiste are the answer ... if for no other reason than because it's the best USF could do.  

Don't underestimate the value of 'hype'. It's only disappointing if you took the bait.

Dont forget that Fisher played some QB too. I am more upset that Gachuette has not sniffed the field. Are we going to redshirt him??? Anyway, Julmiste seldom threw the ball in HS. I think they said that he had a total of about 50 pass attempts in HS. That is not enough pass attempts to become a good QB. Grothe could be the best QB in USF history in just few short years.

I agree some fans here have the wrong perception of our program;

1. Even in our state we ARE NOT that well known, i have seen this change in the last two years but we still are not in the same league with most BCS teams in most recruits eyes.

2. The BE next year and the new athletic facility have helped and will continue to help, but its still not enough to get most of the top athletes that are being wooed by the top teams in other BCS conferences.

We will improve our standing as time goes by but the facts are that:

1. We only have been in 1A ball for 3 years

2. Weve only  had football for 8 years.

3. We avg less than 30,000 a game

4. We had no athletic facility till this year.

5. We have no Bowl history.

6. We had not been on ESPN till last year.

7. WE had no shot at BCS till next year.

8. Rest of the nation and most of Florida has never heard of us.

I think the bottom line is that we are suffering the effects from not being able to recruit a quality QB. It's the same dilemma the hoops coach had in trying to recruit the better players, when that fell through what we got left with were the guys that nobody else in CUSA wanted.
