Sounds like a fun trip that also included a not-so-fun "trip."   Hope you and your bride enjoyed the escape.  And like my bride often reminds me, between my age and klutziness, she may have to cocoon me in bubble wrap.

Pretty good news after the visit with Ortho Doc this morning. Doesn't think surgery will be needed. Just wear the boot for 3 - 4 more weeks and then see him again. If x-rays show healing should be okay to switch to a turf toe insert for the shoe. Don't love wearing the boot but sure beats surgery and a cast.

Agreed however we don’t heal quickly at our age 😀, get well Rich, you are a pain in the ass when healthy, so sending good wishes to the better half as well.

My biggest fear was going from her caregiver to having her do everything. She gets around fairly well with a limp but not sure she could have been 100% caregiver for me had I had to stay off my feet for six weeks.

Not a chance. Have worn it religiously other than in the shower which the Dr said was okay as long as I try to keep most of my weight on the heel of the bad foot.
