Here's a comprehensive summary of where we stand in realignment:

 

- A fairly credible source has reported that UNC has a big ten offer

- There is also non-stop speculation that UVA is next on deck

- Yet more sources are talking about GT having applied and recieved an offer

- Keeping on the Big Ten, a big ten network exec has stated the footprint is likely to grow southeast, while Ohio St pres says discussions about expansion are not done, but rather ongoing

- Of course, nothing has come of this yet. BUT...

- Some journalists have put their credibility on the line by reporting that they know of pending offers and movement. Specifically, Thamel (S.I.) reporting that commissioners privately acknowledge that realignment isn't done, and Greg Swaim reporting that Big 12 and Big Ten have offered 2 ACC schools each.

- A lot of realignment commentary points out that the Maryland lawsuit is a likely holdup, as $50m is indeed a huge hurdle, especially for cash-strapped programs like GT

- A wild card in realignment seems to be FSU. They, along with Maryland, voted against an increase ACC exit fee, and their AD has publicly stated "[realignment] is not done"

-- FSU trustees are confirmed as being open to and interested in the Big 12

-- TCU AD has stated that the b12 has been reached out to by FSU. 

-- The FSU to Big 12 chatter was so loud, the "worldwide leader" couldn't ignore it. BUT...

-- There was a weird back and forth between rumor twitter accounts (with mixed records of accuracy) @thedudeofwv and @MHVer3 recently. The Dude stated he knows FSU has submitted a 5 year AAU plan and they have the votes to gain entry into the Big Ten, while MHver3 says they're not there. Could FSU interest in the Big Ten be holding up a move to the Big 12?

- Back to the Big 12. Blogger TuxedoYoda recently pointed out that there is not only an enormous benefit to the big 12 going to 12 and having a conference championship game, but there is a financial penalty for not doing so

- The same blogger posted a rather compelling post that Fox has asked the Big 12 to look at expanding into Florida, namely with an eye on FSU/Miami, but that if they were to be unavailable or unwilling, USF/UCF would be viable and desired options. 

- It is his opinion that Miami/Clemson/USF/UCF would be a great combo for the big 12 (presuming FSU gets in the Big Ten). Think that's crazy? Well,

- The Big 12 owns the name "Big 14"

- Bowlsby is sitting back right now but is "constantly vigilant" aka prepared to move

 

all signs point to realignment being far from over.

Very good summary. Now, if we had some sort of timeline as to when the winds of change will start blowing a bit harder, that'd be just peachy keen. 

I also liked the 'one from column A and two from column B' contract trip wire. Smart attorneys out there in media land.
