I promised myself that I would not do this, but I am so jacked up that we might be having a USF football game in 15 days. Coupled with the ND scheduling news, I am all in. You have to believe, because of their military background,  that the Citadel is a lock down college and they will not have virus problems. We’ve had three weeks of no virus for anyone on the USF team. Is this going to happen or will there be heartbreak? What do you all think?

"Happen", in what sense of the word? Full slate of contiguous games? A few games before halting due to COVID? Some games now, some later? Dunno. I'd like to see as 'regular' of a season as possible, but we find ourselves in a sci-fi world where there is no such thing as guarantees. In the interest of playing along, I'll slide a handful of chips onto YES, football will happen (omitting any caveats).

Under the circumstances the practices and any games played will be positives. Being able to start with the Citadel is a major plus before going to Notre Dame and conference play. Replacing Texas with Notre Dame didn't make our schedule any easier.

So, my guess is PLAY BALL!

It will absolutely happen...now, the question at least for me, has always been will there be too many cancellations where they can't finish...so far (it's still early) we haven't seen an uptick in cases on the football team with students returning to campus..fingers crossed...

I am thankful that our football coach and athletics leadership has a positive and optimistic frame of mind.

There were so many "never going to happen" types out there trying to sound so much smarter and more virtuous than others.

Thanks Coach Scott and Michael Kelly for using your brains and not your emotions to not only let the kids play but help them learn responsibility and the importance of personal decisions.  Thanks for guiding them with courage through unprecedented times.  I continue to support you and remain optimistic.

I think the games happen. I'm 50/50 on whether I get to see a game in person. that depends on how Sept goes. So much liability with large gatherings.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
