Clearly the fruit baskets USF sent to the Big 12 meetings had no effect.

That didn't really happen. What did happen, Friday, was that the never-say-normal Big 12 resurrected its conference championship game, passed on trying a TV network … and announced it's in no rush to expand. School presidents couldn't decide on those last two items at first, so the University of Longhorn Network made their minds up for them.

And a lot of air went out a lot of balloons.

USF can forget about conference hopping. Maybe forever.

Truth be told, it never had a chance.

Good article. Sounds to me like it's going to be gun-to-the-head before Tejas approves expansion.I particularly liked this phrasing...

I just hope this gives us all a small break from the overt but-kissing by Cincy, Memphis, and the winged donkeys up the road. Probably not, but I can hope.
