  1. "Sources told ESPN that offering to accept less revenue might have actually hurt Memphis' chances. The league, sources said, is more interested in teams that can strengthen and add value to the league as opposed to schools that need to be "propped up" by the league."The league, sources said, is more interested in teams that can strengthen and add value to the league as opposed to schools that need to be "propped up" by the league."

I'd venture to say that Judy wasn't willing to accept less.

  2. It'd be interesting to see a conference control their own destiny by streaming their own games and seeking out their own advertising dollars. Jumping to Netflix or Amazon might be the next step, but I foresee a future where the big boys (SEC/B1G) broadcast games online without anybody standing between them and the ad dollars.

  3. I don't understand the concept of Cincinnati being WVU's "travel partner." Do they intend to share plane rides and split hotels with WVU or something? What benefit does having a conference member close to WVU bring to the other conference members? More importantly, how does it benefit UT? Would the other conference members really try to appease WVU by putting somebody else out there on their island? It's not like WVU has the option to leave.  That was made obvious prior to their admittance into the B12.

That being said, Cincinnati has built a solid sports program, and is in a large market and fertile recruiting ground. Their fans are pretty good, but they are still overshadowed in that market by tOSU just like UF/FSU still dominate Tampa and Orlando.

  4. 16-20 in 3 years at WKU, and USF hired him. I don't think his record paints an accurate picture of how good of a coach he is. He stepped into two tough situations, and he pulled the nose up on both of them. I find it impressive that he changed his entire offensive philosophy to play to his teams strengths. Based on his age and what he has shown so far, I think he has a much higher ceiling than the retreads that interviewed for the Gamecock job.

  5. A lot of people on here, myself included, thought 5 wins was the ceiling for this team. The idea that they have 3 chances to pickup a 6th win and go bowling is awesome. Taggart has done a great job recruiting, and if he can continue to win a few games each year, it will only get better. A bowl game would be another step in the right direction.

I'm really excited about the team's development and having quite a few guys return next year. It's going to be a long offseason, especially if it's not shortened a little bit by a trip to a bowl game.
