    Potential for an upset

    9. SMU 3-4 - SMU has finally turned the corner and can beat anybody in the nation! Well, at least this is what one voter in the AP poll thinks, as Patrick Brown of the Chattanooga Times has ranked SMU at #25, while USF has zero votes. Let that sink in for a minute. Anyway, there is a lot to celebrate in Dallas right now.  The biggest reason SMU was consistently losing was Freshman QB Ben Hicks was a turnover machine to start the season, throwing 9 INTs in his first four full games of the year, and they all seemed to come in the red zone. In his last two games vs Tulsa and Houston? 5 TDs 0 INTs. On the flip side, they have a pair of corners that are tied for the conference lead in INTs with 4, in Jordan Wyatt and Horace Richardson. DE Justin Lawler is 2nd in the conference with 6 sacks. Then you have standout WR Courtland Sutton who doesn't need stats to back up his greatness. The best part about these players? Most of them are underclassmen.   Next Up: TulaneI

Very interesting! Did anyone else notice that SMU has 1 vote for top 25? LOL!!!

  2. Thanks for posting!

I actually went through a good chunk of that media guide, and what popped out at me was how easy our ooc games are.... I would say that 90% of our OOC had a sub .500 record. It looks like we're trying to build some confidence. I'm hopeful for a good year, and we got some pieces, let's see how it all comes together.

Another thing I noticed was the number of former 4* recruits we have in our roster. COA can recruit, arguably better then CWT. Let's see if that can show on the court.

  3. Offense: A+

We're in the top percentile in numerous offensive categories. A+ is a no-brainer in my opinion.

    Defense: A-

Here's my logic... When we average the scores of all the opponents we've faced, including the 55 FSU put on us, USF defense has allowed 26.8 PPG. If our offense scored 26.8 PPG per game, that's good for the 87th offense in NCAA (San Jose State). Which is not that good....

Subtract FSU from the factor, USF defense has allowed 19.7 PPG , good for the 118th offense (Rutgers-esque) in NCAA.

We complain too much, I think we're doing a great job on D.

    Special teams: A

Haven't missed a kick all year,

    DJ returns

    Hernandez punts

    Overall through Mid-Season: A!

FSU had their starters in the game till the end up 20. What is the issue? If you get hurt you get hurt. You can do somethings to protect players from injury but not much. They had barely gotten to QF all game and they were going to be pass plays. No issue and you keep both in the game.

Good point. And I remember the commentators were defending Jimbo's decision on leaving the starters out there.

    Meanwhile, yesterday's announcers blast CWT....

  5. Man, it seems like we're awfully thin at the SS, FS position. Malik Dixon out, Devin Abraham out, Khalid  McGee hurt. I'm hearing Hudson was in non-contact jersey, Deatrick hurting too. Godwin is switching positions to compensate the injuries....  Is it time to remove the redshirt and get Watts on the field?

Is there a depth chart? Where is he in the depth chart?
