Bulls analyst promoted to position coach; Scott announces staff changes

TAMPA, JAN. 15, 2021 – USF head coach Jeff Scott today announced the promotion of defensive quality control analyst Ernie Sims to linebackers coach and the departure of two members of the coaching staff.

Safeties coach Wes Neighbors and running backs coach Pat White have departed the program for other opportunities. Defensive coordinator Glenn Spencer will move from his positional coaching duties with the linebackers to coaching safeties.

Professionally, yeah, he might get one more HC shot down the road, but I’d argue he’s probably still financially set for life. Who knows, I could see him pulling a Skip Holts or Frank Solich and realizing life is probably less stressful and still pretty good at a lower level school. And the money is **** good by real people standards.

Skip's in the perfect spot. A level where he can excel, consistently put out a team that competes for the conference and probably become a beloved fixture in the community and school. While making a lot of money and being completely secure.

We are at **** near 25 transfers and people telling me that we have no room for a DT or DE? Maaaaan I don't care if it is uneven, we need to get a good grad transfer or two that can help stop the run!

I agree, go for need, don't worry as much about balance. Besides, it looks like CJS has his ways of convincing players to explore the portal, so that could easily include our DE/DTs.

Looking at the schedule remaining (before the conference tournament) we have a decent chance to win 8/9 of those games. That puts us at about 15 wins. Probably need to get 18 wins for the NIT. Thus, we need a few upsets going forward. It’s going to be close. I would call no NIT has  disappointing and I would rather not bother with any of the other non-ncaa tournaments. That being said it is nice that we are competitive as the 5th best team in the conference. But like I said earlier, at some point we will want more.

Personally I am looking forward to winning the Roaman again!

Thanks though all these are just screen captures from ESPN+ (alt + prtscreen and pasted into the post). Not like I was there. Fortunately, I've been out of the hospital since January 10th, 2020 (other than a handful of operations here and there).

Awww, I had imagined you with your camera, moving around to get the best angle of the broadcast.

  6. I remember well before the Merrill Lynch bull debacle, in our quarterly IT meeting, hearing the VP Technology/CTO praise him for being a genius and working to get our graphics  and logoing consistent across all areas of USF.

In the end he was maybe CCS level bad.

There are players with freakin sexual assault cases and criminal charges that get 2nd chances, Nick Roberts will get another chance.

    Fair point Gator

My cynical self says in our sick society, in particular in the sick society of big money athletics, that a sexual assault is less of an issue for a team/coach than a player who quits on his coach/team.

I’m just saying... if we know for a fact that we can’t draw fans, get support, fund IPF’s and balance a budget at this point in our AAC journey something has to change. There are teams out there we can be playing that may spark interest even if we aren’t in the P5 but the AAC? That ain’t it chief. I would rather die fighting and forging our own path than continuing to whither on the AAC vine, it literally brings nothing to our lives while having destroyed pretty much every semblance of a base we established. What do we have to lose? We have nothing left.

I’m not sure how that would sell but I know it has a better shot than anything we are currently selling

So you are trending to the idea of going independent and 12 payday games a year or FCS like he who will not be named?
