Get fired up enough to fire your buddy Cosh coach....
-
Ugh, let too much inferior competition hang around this season.
-
This X10000it takes a lot of time and effort to upgrade a culture. Men's BB signing class is BIG improvement. Soccer has made great gains. I'm expecting same from men's golf this year. takes time. you newbys got spoiled by metioric rise of ftbl. very rareAnd jesus guys, hating on basketball? We lost ONE GAME coming off our best season EVER. In football we went from zero to BCS in record time. These past couple seasons are a rite of passage, every school has hired a bad coach. We fire the guy and move on, the program is not destroyed in the process.
Though Prado should have been fired a while ago, USF Baseball sucks.
-
So wait, we have a down couple years in football and coming off our best basketball year ever we lose ONE game. Now USF athletics is in free fall? Ok......
Dont get me wrong, football is broken. Basketball didn't look great today. Our athletics could probably benefit from a new AD. But overall, our athletics are fine.
-
I wrote in Holtz for the Senate seat today, maybe he'll be inspired to step down to pursue a career in politics.
I did too!
-
Should have asked him to be our AD.
-
My biggest concern/frustration is how our coaches prepare our players. Holtz said in his presser that "our QB's don't take snaps from under center very well"...what the hell are you working on during the week of practice than? Isn't practice for prepping and working on the fundamentals that you stink at?
If most of the snaps in a game are taken in the shotgun, that's what they're going to work on the most ... There's not enough practice time to go into detail on every aspect of the game.
No, but you would hope they would practice it enough to at least be OK at it and not completely suck.
-
Players are 80% of the problem! You don't loose to teams like Ball State because of coaching or schemes. You loose to teams like Ball State because you have no heart and no effort.
Skip Holtz is here next year, guranteed. But he should be fired. It is his job to identify leadership on the team and hold players accountable. But it isn't like we haven't had decent coaching. The FSU game scheme was brilliant. I am not even convinced our defense scheme is that bad. After watching or CBs in press coverage last night, as unappealing as playing 8 yards off the ball may sound, it might be our best option!
Wrong, schemes that don't play to your team's strengths or make any sort of logical sense can absolutely make you lose to teams like Ball State. Players are a problem, but my god coaching is a bigger one right now.
-
I am sure this one had nothing to do with Holtz.
Probably not.
But then again, see how long your QB lasts when your O-Line can't protect him and keeps giving up blindside hits/forcing a scramble that results in a hit. BJ took a lot of unnecessary abuse thanks to that, which may or may not have affected his final injury.
-
Virtually everyone wanted him. "Dainels sucks, let's see Floyd" people here you go. A kid that can't take snaps from under center to end the game. He had to take them from the gun. Wow. This should be great. Hey, Matt, use these two weeks to take snaps from under center.
daniels doesnt suck
he was never a d 1 qb
i dont know is floyd is the answer
we know know daniels wasnt
IT IS ALL ABOUT THE QB IN COLLEGE BALL
With any sort of team/coaching behind him BJ leads us to our first Big East championship. No question. You can't ask the kid to play AND coach himself as well. That makes him a D1 QB in my book.
-
BJ was a talent and by far the best player on this team. If he only had a coaching staff capable of developing him he could have been one of the best.
His heart and desire to win certainly earned him a spot as one of the best Bulls to play the game. Thank you BJ.
-
Yeah, watch how amazing this team is without BJ.
Sure......
-
Those fans wearing the bags love this team more than the current coaching staff does.
Is it embarrassing for our program? Absolutely. But the only way change happens is if our administration is embarrassed. We aren't a fan base that will tolerate this kind of product, and we need to show it.
-
If we win that is exactly what the administration will say.
I love my team and these players, so that part of me wants them to win. But that other part says we need to lose to this team for heads to roll. And I want them to roll.
-
If we lose due to another defensive collapse, or Uconn puts up 40, Cosh SHOULD be fired. Then again he SHOULD have been fired weeks ago.
So no idea.
-
Holtz, no question. Even if we lost every game.
-
If Gruden leaves "Monday Night Football" it will be for an NFL job, not a college job.
I disagree, he's reached that point in his career where he doesn't need to take anything for the money anymore. He will return to football for the love of it and won't sacrifice family time to do it. I have a feeling that limits him to Florida, but anything less than our NFL teams would have to be UF, UM, or FSU.
He wouldn't uproot his family at this point, it will be a job of convenience. Though we all remember when Gruden was in the press box for one of our ESPN games a few years ago? Guy was high as hell on USF.
It certainly would be a good idea for Woolard (coughorhissuccessorcough) to give the guy a call. Chances are about as close as you can get to zero, but at least give him a call.
-
Wants to stay in Florida- Check
Could probably recruit decently in Florida - Check
Lots o' NFL connections- Check
USF has millions to offer him-
Oh darn. We seem to be lacking by far the most important part of that checklist.
Don't get me wrong, Gruden would be a rocket in getting us some of that national recognition back, but it ain't happening.
-
A field goal is what a team settles for when the offense can't get the ball in the end zone, Had they done that just once out of those 5 times, they would have won.
Offense is so far down the priorities list right now it isn't even funny. Does our offense put us in a position to win every week? It isn't pretty, but they sure as hell do.

Time to go Skip...get the picture.
Or at the very least... DO SOMETHING.
Last week: We can't stick with the status quo.
This week: Status quo officially stuck to.
WTF
Exactly. I cannot believe Cosh wasn't fired, can't even comprehend it at this point.
-
"Trying to build something here more than wins".
EXCUSE me?
-
BJ on now. I feel for this guy. He may not be an elite qb but he plays his ass off and deserves better.
That is the biggest tragedy of all of this, BJ was ready to give all of us something pretty special this year.
-
Wow, not looking like Cosh will be fired.
-
You are a lying sack of shiite. A great QB would have trouble winning since he cannot play defense. You credibility on the board is absolute ZERO since this is what you wanted. Now go back and shake down a homeless guy for $70K since that is what you are best at. You do not know football. Oh yeah, glad to see that great USC team take it on the chin... again?based on lack of recruiting last couple of years
lack of development of players
failure to land a top qb recruit
look at our competition year in and year out
rutgers;lousiville and cinncinati out recruit and out coach usf year after year
they get better florida players than usf
you cannot win in college without a top qb
bj is not a top qb
bj is not to be blamed for the cuse loss
i freely admit i was wrong about holtz but it is now time for him to go and it is sad because he is a nice man.
i know football quite well as i have coached it at every level accept college.
actually what i do best is make money and i am doing quite well at that --thank you.
BJ is not to blame for ANY loss this year. He put us in position to win every single game, that's all you can ask of the kid.

Questionable indeed, but like all sports you need to always expect the officials to screw you over and win by enough so that they can't.
Men's Soccer had a downish year, but a great job as always. If I have a complaint it's that they need to stop taking so many matches to OT (where you will usually lose to a fluke bounce or the Russian roulette of a shootout) and score more freaking goals! Offense looked anemic at the games I attended.
