  1. it looks like a mini-Rose Bowl-- very flat and the farthest seats are FAR from the field, not HIGH above the field in the sun

if you notice, the tunnels for the fans lead to the OUTSIDE of the stadium. which means, there is no concessions area for the stadium.. so, unlike most stadiums, where you want to get food/drink/bathroom, it will lead you to the outside of the stadium, where the food and drink and bathrooms will be. that being said, i still think we would be more than happy with this stadium on campus.

  2. I hear "game manager" and "smart" a lot about this kid. which means, don't expect a lot of flashy play from this kid if he starts.

I am looking forward to pro-style offense, with RUNNING the ball being the priority. always envious of how UCONN and Rutgers were able to make the most out of less talent than we had

  3. i challenge you to prove to me his back to back 7-5 records lead to anything otherwise.

And I challenge you to examine what he actually accomplished in three years at a fledgling FBS school, dragging them from being a doormat program in less than time than any reasonable person thought was possible. Looking only at records when evaluating a coach is simple and deceptive. As to being another Shannon, their career paths have literally nothing in common.

Funny because the same can be said about Skip Holtz when he took over in ECU.

Looking at only records when evaluating a coach is simple and deceptive? OK, lets just ignore Skip Holtz's down-trending record at USF then.

I hope WT proves me wrong, but 3 seasons at WKU with his best records being 7-5 don't tell us jack. This hire was simply on DW's SUBJECTIVE evaluation of what he believes is a good coach, nothing objective. Too risky of a move, if you ask me.

  4. Welcome to Randy Shannon version 2.0.

    Great recruiter, average gameday coach.

and if you think this is a racist comment, i challenge you to prove to me his back to back 7-5 records lead to anything otherwise. as someone said earlier, he is just too UNPROVEN, which is why this hire makes me mad. DW had a chance to right the ship and knock it out of the park, with someone like Butch Davis, who has proven to assemble national championship florida programs as well as winning BCS games (sugar bowl). at the very least, would have assembled a solid coaching staff.

instead, we are stuck with a Skip Holtz-like hire.

  5. Can he recruit here???? I still haven't seen this answer yet.

There is no really valid answer until he gets the job and we see ...

lol this. I dont get the "Can he recruit FL?" questions for the candidates. We wont know until they get here guys.

I think the only coach we have any insight about recruiting in FL is Taggart.

Houston Nutt stole dexter McCluster from us remember?

    Butch Davis

  7. Davis is a short term solution, and Taggart is a long term solution. Given the rapidly changing college athletics landscape, I think we need to make an impression now, and Davis would be better in that respect.

I'm of the belief that as long as USF remains in the Big East that no Coach is more than a short term commitment. If a Coach has marked success as USF he will jump to the SEC, B1G, BIG12, or PAC after only 2-4 years. If the Coach isn't successful then recent history has shown they will be fired at 2-4 years.

That said, I'm not buying into the Taggart is a long term solution nonsense. We need a proven prospect to turn the program around and accept that as long as we are in the Big East we will never hold a high profile Coach for long. In which case Davis is clearly a better prospect and Taggart really shouldnt be in the conversation....

Despite his ties to Tampa, I think taggarts youth is a DISADVANTAGE for us because if he builds us up, he is still young enough that he will have more time left in his career to jump and get a better payday from a sec school.

In my mind, Butch is older and less likely to move around because of his age. He has made it known that he wasn't planning on leaving UNC. if it weren't for his firing, he would still he there. He tested the waters and hopped around, but he is at a point in his career where he wants to settle down.

  8. As far as recruiting, Butch is the best candidate. No comparison.

He recruited all the players that made up the 2001 Hurricanes. . . . . . they had 16 first round draft picks.

Its not just that he closes. . . . . . he has a one-of-a-kind eye for talent.

Too bad he's a dirtbag. But I'd get over myself.

Im sure being at Miami helps alot. I dont recall his recruits at UNC being super stellar

Being at Miami helps but it obviously doesn't help enough. Randy Shannon couldn't get it done.. Coker just rode the talent wave that Butch assembled to a national title before he was hired. Al Golden is no Butch either.

Butch is our only proven candidate. I think at the least we get to a 8-5 record with Butch like he did at UNC

  9. I say we go big and get Butch.. last time, we took a risk on an up-and-comer in Skip. Not to say that if we did this time around, it wouldnt work. But I feel like we have an opportunity to make a big splash here and we should. At the least, we know Butch can assemble a strong supporting staff.
