For sure.  It's improved here lately but it certainly will require increased enforcement of guidelines and proper etiquette (that's for one of the guys - now long gone - that thought if it wasn't specifically spelled out in the Guidelines they could do it).

Antonio has not ever visited the site.  He is very clear in stating he will not associate with an entity that disparages USF, the team or his teammates.  So for those that haven't learned how to comment intelligently and without adding personal insults, you'll be gone.  I have no problem saying that.  Ultimately, if we have to choose to support our student-athletes or an anonymous guy on the site, it will be our players.

The site was formed over 20 years ago to support the growth of USF Football (for years at great expense).  It remains the mission.  If you can only tear down, there are better places to be.

Also wanted to mention without too much detail, what Antonio is inquiring about on twitter is a sort of add on of very low impact things that he can also do for NIL with us.  So the NIL money raised by the site is involved on top of him involving himself in a different manner.

And let me tell you this.  Antonio is a terrific guy and just about everyone knows that.  He wants to be involved with fans, he's gregarious and has thought a lot about his role in the program, in making a lasting contribution.  A podcast with him, also a possibility, would reveal a lot.  I hope we can help him get his message out and support him as fans!

Sounds great where do i give money to help support this?
    Awesome work here!

I'm not a big football x and o guy but I hear announcers talking about getting low in short yardage situations.  Don't like his chances of getting low.

He will take up a lot of space.  With that wingspan, he could occupy two OL and free up some space for the other DL to do some damage.  It will be interesting to see how he has progressed and what situations they use him in.  Looks like they are rolling with Bags and Cheney to start, hopefully Sease is decent and the two greyshirts are coming along as backups.

Pinder is still on the online roster, so that means there is a chance they can work through this and get him back.  With the way the university is treating athletics now, I at least feel there is a decent chance they get him eligible.

Why learn and grow when you can transfer out to a school that guarantees you a job next year? Timmy is not eligible to play at any other school this year I believe because he was not in the transfer portal before the date to play this year. He should have played his four games and tried to earn the job. If not asked to be redshirted so he can transfer and not loose a year of eligibility while working out, practicing, and  competing with the team  to develop his skills. So if he is off the roster and is not eligible to play at another school this year, does he still continue with team activities? Hopefully the coaching staff can talk to him and daddy to explain the best situation for Timmy's development at USF or another school.

Timmy is officially off of the roster now. That ship has sailed. Would love to know how this all played out.

  4. Big Timmy fan, but there are plenty of examples where a true freshman QB has come in and won a lot of games.
Flowers here at USF. UCF had milton and Gabriel.
Gabriel at UCF was basically in the same exact spot as TMC was in last year and won 10 games. At the end of the day winners will find a way to win.
If we take that game at UCF last season this would be a different story. But we lost way more than we won last year, and we have a guy who turned around a team in the same exact situation last season. The choice here was pretty easy.

The donations part is what blows me away from the numbers discussed. How long did it take us to fund the IPF once they announced it? And then within a year of announcing we're formally looking to build a stadium, we're talking about near $100M raised for the OCS? We've got like $10M in donations publicly announced, I'm curious who is throwing down the bigger chunk of change, or how many different donors are ponying that up. If they're looking to finance $100-200M, that makes me think they've already got someone with a big chunk lined up and they're expecting or hopeful of others.

Last I heard they were at about $25M in donations without actively asking us normal fans for money yet.  Once they have plans and make it official, I would estimate that in 1-2 years of fundraising they can get $10M out of the normal fans, and most likley raise $40-50M through large donors/corporate sponsors/naming rights sales.   Once they announce this there should be quite a snowball effect with the alumni/corporate base.   If the wins happen on the field then fundraising will be even easier.  The avenues to get money with a stadium are much wider, they are going to be able to extract naming rights revenue, concessions contract revenue, parking revenue, etc.  Just eliminating the albatross of a stadium lease will bring in added revenue.

This makes our market look like a better investment to me with more upside and lower up front cost.

Once they get the stadium announced, USF would be wise to blast out the half billion number all over athletics social media. Football broadcast notes should be plastered with it. Should be one of the first things announcers talk about on tv when talking about USF.

They need to generate national and local buzz and that spend is thebway to get it started.

We have a new IPF, real OCS  plans ongoing that happened out of nowhere. I agree. Not sure what factors came in to play, but it's a good sign at  the speed of it all. And b4 anybody replies to this with "If only this can translate to wins" or "CJS better start winning"....yes....we all know.

On a positive note, if CJS does not start winning at least we now have better facilities to lure in a new coach!

I feel like this season will be a lot better than expected. If Scott can finally get wins this year, it could be transformational for the program.

But at the end of the day, the IPF and Stadium being done in such a short time should put the program on the map for expansion. Not many schools could show this level of commitment in such a short period of time.  Once the stadium is approved, we are looking at almost one half of a billion dollars invested in athletics programs in a span of 3-5 years. Thats got to be up there in total new investment for athletics.

Interesting. Wondering how much private fundraising has been done if all the $300+ million estimates have been accurate.

Just guessing here- but thinking that the breakdown will look like this- Total cost 300-325M, factor in 25M in cost overruns.  $170-200M financed, 70M in donations, then remainder in state or developer funding for mixed use of stadium (retail/class/etc).

Still blows my mind that through all these years, past administrations while in the Big East haven't been able to get this done.  The speed that this admin has been able to push this through has been insane.  This is going to happen.

  9. Exactly.  The same people bashing him now, will be bashing the admin if he turns things around and leaves for more money.

We should know what bad coaching looks like.   Skip was a bad coach- didn't develop talent and did not know how to recruit in the Big East.  Strong was a bad coach, failed in all aspects and totally mailed it in.

Scott came in to a terrible program with terrible morale filled with entitled players, plus the covid season.  Unlike Skip and Charlie, he has players that are developing- Horn, Dollison, Timmy, Weaver, Battie, etc.   And he has brought in some promising recruits.  All things Skip and Charlie could not do.  Not to mention he seems to be in lockstep with the admin and while we are terrible, we are entering a period of investment in the program that has never been seen before.

If CJS gets fired, there really is no answer.  Maybe bring Willie back. But we tried the up and coming coach route and the retread "successful" coach route- both failed miserably.  At some point we have to let a guy get 4-5 years in and build something.

Ugh, I had convinced myself not to ever get my hopes up for USF football after the last couple of years but I got to say I'm feeling really good about this upcoming year. We have a proven QB, a rebuilt defense, a veteran O-line, a slew of awesome running backs.

This SHOULD be the year it all comes back together. Let's hope Scott has figured it out.

    🤘

Every year I make it to about July without optimism.  Then around July 20th I start thinking "maybe things will click and this will be the year!"  Most years I go into the games about 60% positivity and can manage the eventual gut kick.  This year I am at about 90% confident in a turnaround.  If this team comes out and poops the bed against BYU it may break me.  Expecting a win or a close 2021 Tulsa like loss.

That's obviously what they were told by the builder. It's a good life lesson for the players, things don't always go as planned.

..... and if the players are feeling a little down about having to wait just an extra couple of months for a nice ipf, someone should tell them the tale of the trailers and practicing by car headlights.

The only players who would have been promised anything with the IPF would be guys who came in last year.  I think 2 extra months would be expected with a large project like this.  On the flip side, they are awarding a stadium build in less than 20 days.  This admin is not getting nearly enough credit for what they have pulled off in the past two years, sure the previous people have set us back but we are on the verge of a $350Mish investment into the program.  This is some miracle level progress being made, and this staff deserves all the credit in the world.

  12. Not a bad review, but he has the defense relying on Cheney, there is no mention of Pinder or Gordon at LB in the Middle.  Adding Cheney and Pinder at DT is a major upgrade for run defense, and DJ Gordon playing inside of Boyles and Grier should also be transformational on D.  If these additions are even halfway effective, the CB's and Safeties will not have to cover WR's for 5-7 seconds every play due to no penetration by the front lines.

I still think that the defense going from 123 in the nation to even 80 will result in a 6 win season.  People are overlooking how much Glenn Spencer's defensive strategy set this team back- I mean the opposition was guaranteed 3 yards on almost every run play when he was in charge.

I think you left this  :roflmao:  off of the end of your post.😎🤘

Everyone laughs at the prospects of USF going to ACC or Big 10, but somewhere out there is a tape of our home games against WVU, FSU, GT, Wisconsin, BYU, Kansas, Louisville etc-  The seats are filled.  In some cases the upper deck is filled.  When we are good its filled with USF fans, when we are bad its filled with away team fans.

The Bay area is unique in that it has transplants from all over the country, and a road trip here is not just to go to a football game or Disney World- the area has so much to offer. This school in a better conference is a money maker, especially if there is a stadium that the school controls on campus.  Games against P5 schools will sell out no matter what, and the influx of cash and visibility that a conference offers will make the team better.

If the Big 10 is out there looking at FSU or Miami and the GOR is prohibitive they can look down the road at USF and see a school that has an admin ready to spend to invest in the program.  Invest in USF and by the time the ACC GOR is done they are ahead of FSU and Miami.   Big 10 was willing to bet on Rutgers, is USF a worse bet than Rutgers long term?

  14. I take the under on all.. I think that we are going to see Battie and Joiner utilized more in both running and passing games.   I think a lot of Mangham's success was Wiess not utilizing the speedier more explosive backs we have.  Mangham's longest rush was like 25 yards.  If Bohannon wins the job and is accurate defenses will be forced to play back- That is going to give the two faster backs a lot more room to shine.   I think Mangham is going to fall into the Darius Tice mold this year of a short yardage guy who scores some TD's but he will not be the only source of TD's like he was last year.

If Bohanon ends up being a one and done I'll take it!!! That means he would have given us a great year. It's sad that we've been burned so many times that nobody is excited about a transfer QB that led a P5 school to a 10-2 season and participated in their spring camp (which means he came in here is game shape unlike that UM transfer we had).

I think the reason Bohannon picked USF is because its his best chance to come in, have a decent line with solid returning WR support, and pump his stats to get drafted.  There had to be some promise given to him that the attack would be more pass heavy than what he had at BU.  If Trickett uses dual RB's for passes and goes heavier on the bubble/jet screen action with Horn/Dollison/Battie/Joiner it is not hard to see him pass for 3000+ yards and run for 3-400.  If that happens USF wins 5-7 games, and  GB gets credit for coming in and helping turn around the program.

His trajectory has the potential to be like Kenny Pickett- puts up a ton of stats and gets some highlights in his last year that gets analysts attention.  NFL scouts seem to love older "mature" college QB's.   I dont think GB can turn into a 1st round pick, but if he puts up the stats, he can easily go in round 4-7.

2023 season QB competition will be the one that determines who transfers, because if Brown is as good as everyone is saying, TMC will have to be great to get the spot instead of 4 years of a redshirt Brown.

It may be fair, but I think (hope) Mangham believes he's better than that, or those silly star ratings are wrong.

I hope the TD's are harder to come by for Mangham this year, I feel like Battie is a better back and the hype that Mangham has takes away from the opportunities for Battie and Joiner to shine.  Mangham is a short yardage back- he should be used like we used Darius Tice when we had Mack and Dernest Johnson.

I get your point, but I doubt she's working that long.

One of her top goals is a Stadium,  if we are being told that the stadium target date is 2026 or 27,  that puts her at 76 or 77.  If she gets the stadium approved and construction started, she has cemented her legacy at USF and can either retire at 74 or 75, or stick around for the stadium to open.

Winning is the right way, there is not a college football heaven that is going to reward us for losing as good people here on Earth. If he wins then great but if we win 4 and he is talking about process he is never going to win because he doesn’t recognize that winning is the right way no matter how you get there and if the right way is costing you wins it is by definition the wrong way.

Did you listen to the interview before posting the negativity?  The right way is something that hasn't been done here since the days of the guy everyone here loves so much, Jim Leavitt.  Since he left there has been zero attention paid to any depth or continuity.  Scott is building this team with the next 3-4 years in mind as opposed to a hair on fire win now approach.   There also seems to be attention paid to staff development- not just coaches on field, but off field analysts.

The guy has a lot to prove this year and I am not saying give him a complete pass, but we have the best class we have seen in about 8 years on campus now with 4 more transfers coming in after spring.  If these kids go out and perform, I hope you keep this same energy praising the staff on what they have done.

So yes, winning is the right way, but building a program to win long term through player and staff changes should be the real plan.
