WKU got a freebie touchdown.  The guy fumbled the ball through the endzone, but since there was no camera directly on the line, it couldn't be overturned.  However if you look at the replay they did have, his foot was beyond the 2 yard line when he started fumbling, so there's no way he actually crossed the line in possession of the ball.

Any idea why there weren't any cameras on the goal lines? It's not like goal line reviews are uncommon, and they're calls that are critical to get right. Even based on the views that were shown on the video board, it looked like there was enough to overturn the td. The momentum swing between a td and touchback there was huge.

  2. Don't assume complimentary parking anywhere in Miami Beach, be ready to pay. I'm thinking parking on site is reserved for those staying at the hotel, as this is pretty typical in highly dense, urban areas. Folks staying at some hotels in certain areas have to pay a fee, just to park there. You may want to call to double-check with Eden Roc directly.

^This. One would hope that if they're having an event three, there's a plan for guest parking, but I wouldn't gamble on it. Calling the Eden Roc is the safest bet. There are some public lots and garages around, check http://www.miamibeachfl.gov/parking/  for some info.  Looks like there's a garage about 3/4 miles away at 42nd and Sheridan.  Either way, be prepared to pay.

We'll be staying about 2 miles south on the beach, and I think we'll probably just walk to avoid the hassle.

  3. A CCG against the 3rd or 4th best team in the conference won't help the B12 and you never know how things will play out from year to year. Right now they have the purest indicator of a conference champion and part of me hopes they are never forced to go to a CCG ...

In an ideal world, I'd agree with you Trip, that 10-team conferences with round-robin scheduling is the best way to go. However, the other P5 conferences all play an extra game, and if the B12 wants to keep up, they will have to as well, eventually.

  4. historically..... the more attention USF gets, the worse it does

Keep us off the radar, don't pay any attention to us, let us do our thing

We're too blue collar to be getting involved in all this "hype" BS.

USF needs to keep working, keep the noses out of the "hype clouds"

I think (hope?) that the days of that M.O. are behind us.  As others have said here, this is more than a turnaround in the win column; there is a real culture change taking place at USF.

The only way we ever get the respect and recognition we all want is to execute when we're in the spotlight, and I think this team comes out on Thursday ready to show the nation that they have learned how to win.

  5. Memphis will beat Temple.  They're much more explosive on offense, and I don't think Temple can stop them.

Problem is, after losing yesterday, Memphis is out of contention for the West, while Temple still controls its own destiny in the East, so the motivation is all on Temple's side.  Will that translate to a win? I don't know, but I think it would have been better for us if Memphis had won yesterday, so they'd have more to play for next weekend.

Possible, but not probable. You are more likely to get to your 9 win prediction with a regular season loss and a bowl win. You are not out of it yet hang in there.

I think you may be mis-counting.  We have 5 wins and 3 games left, plus a bowl, and we'd need all of them to get to 9 (unless we also make it to the conference championship game.)

It's mathematically possible to get to 9 wins with a regular season loss, but it's less likely than winning out. Temple would have to lose to us, Memphis, and UConn, we'd have to back into the ccg and win it, then we'd have to win the bowl game.

Of course, I'm an optimist. I say let's win out, hope temple loses to Memphis, win the ccg, and win a bowl game to finally get to that elusive 10-win season.  Dreaming, but it's still technically possible.

  7. A question for everyone saying "the law is the law," and I'm asking in good faith:

Do you have any problem with the fact that it appears that the officer also broke the law in this search and arrest? His stated probable cause for searching the vehicle was that he smelled marijuana, but there wasn't any. He can't make up a reason to search and then go on a fishing expedition for whatever happens to be in there.

Unless there are details that aren't being reported (admittedly possible), this has profiling and illegal search written all over it. IANAL, but this seems like a charge that a decent lawyer could get thrown out. I hope Mr Antoine is able to stay in school and get into treatment, rather than go to prison and have his life ruined for a dumb mistake of an 18-19 year old.

That might be a new record for TBP. Only took one post for someone to piss all over something positive. Congrats puc!

Thanks but I'm pretty sure it's only a tie for the record. I can't be the only one that thinks no one at Alabama or FSU is staying up at nite worrying about graduation rates. Even UNC which is a flagship for academia was making up fake courses for their athletes, the game is measured by who has the most points at the end of the game and how many times you do that it comparison to other teams. Graduation rates really aren't a factor in that in less you are grasping at straws for reasons to celebrate. CJL had APR's that embarrassed some but no one talked about those around the water cooler, yet everyone knows we are at the bottom of the football food chain and they don't even laugh at us any more they look down on us with pity.

We're all frustrated with the results on the field over the last few years, but these are still student athletes, at least for the time being.  Apis posts something positive about the academic side, and your immediate reaction is to trash it.  You apparently believe that college athletics are more important than college academics, and that's fine, but most of these kids work their butts off, both on the field and in the classroom.  I happen to think these students deserve some respect for their academic accomplishments, and not some "fan" wishing he could trade them in for "illiterate criminals."
