  1. Brion Carnes situation was different. Carnes said he was committed, but he took a visit to Nebraska against the wishes of USF coaches. When Carnes had the falling out with USF, he committed to WKU. Then he decommitted when Nebraska gave him an offer. If he had still been a USF "commit", he'd have dumped USF when he got the official Nebraska offer.

Committed players take visits all the time. It was a big issue when holtz rescinded his offer. Had carnes left for nebraska, then thats fine. Because at least we would still have a good relationship with his high school. Instead, he burned that bridge

Holtz informed Carnes that it was a deal breaker if he went to Nebraska. Holtz needed a QB commit and either Carnes was committed, or he wasn't. Carnes decided his own fate on that one.

And as for our relationship with Bradenton High School, I think CWT will do ok down that way.

yeah we needed that schollie for Gumby.

no way we needed that relationship with the #1 high school program in the country.

Bradenton is the #1 high school program in the country? I would disagree there

  2. When i played i would get it in my head that whatever happens my guy is not going to make the tackle. Silly looking back but it worked for me.

The problem is, it looks like sometimes they don't know who their guy is.

Ding ding ding. This is an over looked aspect. Hard to block someone if you don't know who your assignment is. I did see our RG get knocked on his heels by a blitzing LB which was quite embarrassing

  3. Football isn't the only sport.

    Many think that it is.

In football, we are no where near the top programs to be thinking "football" is the only sport. We don't have as many boosters, community support, market appeal, and most important of all...money.

Overall, DW is doing a good job. Can't fire him because who is going to come work for an organization that fires people based on pleasing unrealistic and overly-emotional fanbase?

Can't fire CWT either...same reason...who would want to come and coach our not-so-popular and not-so-good of a team knowing he will be on a short leash (more like a twisty tie?) There will be more appealing job openings after the season.

USC (if Kiffin gets fired) might have more of a shorter leash, but c'mon...it's USC Trojans.

WTF?? Having competitive athletics with a diverse and GROWING fan base is now deemed as unrealistic. You sir are one of the very minor few, thankfully, that think this way. You, GaUSFBull, slick1ru2, HeldAccountaBull, Triple B, etal, should begin forming your DW love-in to applaud the facility upgrades that came 5+ years after UCF upgraded their own, which included an indoor practice facility and an OCS. Frankly, the late upgrades are the only thing DW can point to as an accomplishment as AD, however, I and many others feel that it would have been accomplished sooner and more impactfully with an AD who properly viewed mens BB and football as the money sports that fund all others.

We do have competitive athletic programs.

The "upgrades" is not the only thing DW has done right. And no, I am not a DW "lover."

Based on your reply, you and the so-called "others" are unrealistic. Sitting behind a message board calling for people's head based on irrational emotions over a "football game" does not make you and "others" true fans or die-hard fans, or whatever it is that you guys call yourself. People's livelihoods are dependent on their jobs. Good people. Your livelihood is not dependent on winning a football game...at least I hope not.

Doug's job is dependent on our athletic performance. Therefore, Doug's livelihood is somewhat dependent on each football game. No one is saying he isn't a good guy, but outside of spotty basketball success, and our recent softball accomplishments, he hasn't deserved a much longer leash.

  4. There's not a QB in the Country that would be good with this o-line and recievers that won't fight for the ball.

Manziel could beat McNeese with Plants OL
    Not in my opinion...
    Not a chance
It was an exaggeration, but I could list 15 QBs that would make this team at minimum 1-2.

There's probably 30, that doesn't mean they'd do much better.

If they could beat McNeese or FAU than to me, thats a hell of a lot better than the dumpster fire we have now

  5. I would much rather see White than Bench. Bench didnt show me much more than Evald or Floyd. To me, Bench playing decent against FAU isnt much more than Evald looking decent against NcNeese. I know the redshirt argument but this would be a pretty good time for white to step in. 2 weeks to watch film on an good opponent but defense isnt necessarily their strength. And honestly, what are the chances he stays all 5 years anyway if he does get the RS? With baseball always being a possibility and the possibility of him leaving early, I would much rather see what he has now than him just be a huge question mark next season. Its not like true freshman cant come in and make a statement or at least show potential. Not to mention it will further enforce the mindset that we will not accept losing to these schools and changes will be made. Just my two cents.

  6. I said it in another post, and I'll say again.

    GROW A PAIR.

Not one kid anywhere, in any sport is forced to be there. They are blessed with a God given talent above John Q Public and EVERY SINGLE ONE of them CHOOSE to be where they are. If they don't like it, there are two choices.

so if they were blessed with a god given talent above john q public why is john q public booing them for something they themselves couldn't do?

never understood how someone who doesn't have nearly the ability of another could criticize them.

BTW it does more harm than good.

So every coach out there that wasn't a hall of famer shouldnt be allowed to criticize his players at all? Just accept mistakes?

  7. Don't understand why he would be trumpeting USF at every turn if he was Bama bound, but the way our luck has been lately I can't say I would be shocked if so. If we can have a respectable season this year I think it will go a long way with these guys.

Taking "Finally found the school that I want to commit to" at face value would indicate it's not USF ...

This was my take. He's at Bama. He FINALLY found a place he wants to commit to. IF>>>he stays of that mindset, Bama seems his choice. I think he could be a 4 year starter here, and play in front of his family. If he's truly a beast, he could start at Bama, too...but most likely not till his jr or sr year.

According to Scout, Bama has 4 LBs in this year's class already. If he projects as a DE, they have zero DE commits, it seems.

    http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=9&c=8&toinid=745&yr=2014

Hopefully this is just a swoon at Bama (plenty of good reasons, obviously). But hopefully he ends up here...seems like a better than 3 star.

Or it could mean he was very interested and FINALLY made a firm decision on where he wants to be. Doesnt necessarily mean its a new place at all

  8. I'm all for starting a lax team but we would get stomped by everyone... Do we really need anymore punishment right now ?

Our club team beat UF this year. Assume makes an Ass out of U and Me
This is like saying the intramural basketball team at usf beat UFs.

Wish I had a cool demeaning line to say but you already made a fool of yourself.

Trying to make a point from a team winning in a pickup game of lacrosse...el oh el

The point is we have a good club level team and we are competing to say the least at the club level. FSU has a great club team and is probably better than some NCAA level teams. We competed with them last year if I recall correctly

  9. Wasn't EJ Manuel injured for part of 2011, and that's why Clint got playing time? I still remember that beautiful pass he threw on his first drive when he stepped up in the OK State game

That was against OU when they were #1 and if I remember correctly it wasn't that great of a pass. I believe the defender misplayed the ball and fsu scored. Could be wrong though I was in the stands
