  1. Here's information on Tailgating....unfortunately it's not very close to the stadium. http://www.nevadawolfpack.com/ot/mackay-stadium-gameday-guide.html
  2. In his defense "C" and "S" are close on the keyboard. But I understand that they're your rivals. But he was quickly corrected on that thread.
  3. The Aces are a lot of fun. It's a beautiful ballpark. It's a shame you won't be able to make it out in September though. Just a heads up there's a big fire to the north of us so smoke has been coming into the city the past few days, it's nasty.
  4. We're still going to run the pistol and are going to be a run first team. But bringing on Rolovich adds a new dimension to our offense. Our QB doesn't really have the arm strength for long downhill passes. I'd expect to see a lot more swing passes this year. Our WR corp isn't very deep so we'll probably run a lot of 2 TE sets. But Rolovich is an offensive genius and Ault hired him to be the offensive coordinator/QB coach. For Ault that's a huge thing as he's traditionally been the QB Coach/OC. Here's a really good writeup on Rolovich coming to Nevada.
  5. Our new QB, Cody Fajardo is a playmaker as well. My understanding is he is further ahead in his passing skills then Colin was at this point in his career. He's deadly accurate. In the spring game he was 19-22 and those three misses were due to passes being dropped. Last year he only threw for 6 tds and had 6 interceptions. But he was a freshman. He also ran for 10 (I think) touchdowns. He did have some durability issues last year, he missed te Boise game and the final game along with various series in all the other games but didn't start until the 5th game last year and didn't play any meaningful time until our 3rd game against Texas Tech. He's put on some weight and has a season under his belt, so that will help. We were good last year but could have been a lot better. If Cody had some more experience we probably would have finished last year 11-2 instead of 7-6, we lost 4 games we shouldn't have (7 points or less).
  6. You're welcome. I figured some of your fans may enjoy it so I wanted to share.
  7. Yes I have an account there. Most of us are reasonable and welcoming there. I signed up here awhile ago but had only posted in your travel forum. I figured I'd post this information here as I wasn't sure how many of your fans check that forum.
  8. Really looking forward to you guys coming to Reno for the game in a month. Should be a good one! For those that are coming to Reno for the game we have the Great Reno Balloon race that weekend and it's quite a sight to see. Here's some information about it. Also here's a pretty cool time of the event. That morning there is Dawn Patrol which is a light show with the balloons, it starts at 5 am. All of this takes place right across the street from the University so you can head to this event then walk accross the street for the game at noon.
  9. Careful with that. I don't think that it's legit. The Grand Sierra has it's own website where you can book rooms. They do have condos that people can buy, but they can only use them for a couple of weeks a year, otherwise the hotel rents them out like normal rooms. The owners can't rent those rooms out. I don't want to see is one of you guys get taken advantage of. Mustang, I appreciate you looking out for us, and I have no doubts your warning was meant with very good intentions. My research seems to reaffirm that they are legit, please share your sources for your thoughts as to why they are not. Here is my source: http://www.flyertalk...-31-2012-a.html Note the two free nights are only valid in the summer, long before we get there..... Easy way to check would be to simply call the hotel and ask them (not just the person who answers the phone, but maybe a sales or marketing person). You could also mention the rate from the site I mentioned and ask the hotel to match it (but realize, as noted in the link above).... many people note that renoluxuryresort.com not only has the best prices, but also access to the best rooms (since they were once condos, they may be nicer than hotel rooms). While being careful is important, I still think this is a great deal. Here is a yelp review of the discount room site: http://www.yelp.com/...ury-resort-reno Kayak also seems to consider it legit: http://www.kayak.com...sort.416653.ksp Also look for promo codes for the site I mentioned, (like they have one out there now on their facebook page) .... see if you can save even more money. Mike, It sounds like you've done quite a bit of research into this. I have no horse in this game, except hoping my team wins the game in September. My sources are more from internal dealings with the Grand Sierra, unfortunately due to confidentiality rules I can't get into more details than that...sorry. But I checked your sources and it seems legit, so it probably is. I only care about your fan base not being taken advantage of. Obviously I don't stay at the Grand Sierra (GSR for short) since I live in Reno, so finding the best deal isn't something I generally search for. I will say this the GSR is probably one of the most family friendly casino's in town. They have a mini golf course, go carts, a giant swing, http://www.grandsierraresort.com/amenities/all-ages-fun/ultimate-rush-thrill-park, an arcade and bowling alley. It's only about 10 minutes from the stadium as well. If you guys are bringing your family that's probably your best bet. I look forward to meeting some of you guys at the game.

  11. That would be the Ichthyosaur IPA, in my humble opinion. You can find it at Great Basin Brewing Company (two area restaurants) or in six packs at several local grocery stores. I'll take a six-pack of Cigar City Jai-Alai IPA for Pack Backer and mugtang for all their help. Sign me up!
  12. Honestly we're not really in a position to look down on anybody...we're pretty much last in everything that matters. But Californians drive us nuts. And Utah is always good for a joke. From a college perspective our rival is UNLV and they're always fun to make fun of. If you ever encounter somebody from there refer to the school as Nevada Southern University. Nevada and Boise fans usually have some heated discussions which intensified after their kicker choked. But they're your guys problem after this year. Good luck with that btw They're already my problem sadly? Everyone here has blue and orange glasses on... Mad about this game though I have to be the best man at a wedding in Spokane, WA September 8th I was looking forward to catching my first USF game since I moved back out West in '09. I wanted to kill him when he told me what day it was on.. Oh well have at least one game with in flying/driving distance starting next season each year... That's a bummer. I know USF doesn't come out west very often. Tell your friend to reschedule his wedding. This is important. Assuming BSU and SDSU follow through with their big east plans you'll probably get to a game at least ever other year.

I love this kind of snide smack talk. What do they call you guys? Puppywolves or some such? Few here will admit it, but our biggest rival now is Central Florida. 90 miles up Interstate 4, we both recruit the same area. They have a HUGE (and well-deserved) inferiority complex versus us. If you ever meet one, ask them if they're from UC "iF". LOL They simply refer to us as "Reno" or "UNR". We advertise as being the University of Nevada, although the school is technically the University of Nevada-Reno. UNLV was once called Nevada Southern University so if/when you make it over to our board and see NSU you'll understand. Our board btw is www.silverandbluesports.com

  15. I can pretty much guarantee that won't be the case. The game time temp will probably be 85 with humidity of 20%. We're in the desert and 5,000 feet up. The air is thin here. That's our one major advantage. Teams that come from lower elevations get winded especially if it's a close game. Well good luck to you guys and I'm sure as the game gets closer more and more of our fans will drop by. Is it time for football yet? Hey Mugtang, thanks for the info. This was actually part of an inside joke on our board. Coach last year blamed.one of our losses on the lack of humidity at gametime. Hopefully we won't be blaming another one this year on altitude! Haha. That's awesome....he really blamed a loss on lack of humidity? Not execution of the game plan or himself or the players? Wow..... I guess this is what I get for being an outsider trying to comment on a board I'm not familiar with.
  16. Hi everybody, Nevada fan here spying on the competition We're pretty excited to have you guys come to town in September. It should be a good game. A few things you may or may not know, we're one of the few colleges that still sells alcohol at the games. The University itself is a beautiful campus, so hopefully those of you who come have a chance to check it out. The stadium is nothing to get excited about....30,000 seats worth of bleacher seats :/ I wanted to respond directly to a few of the comments here. I'm flattered by this but I doubt it will ever happen. We don't have the market size i.e. SDSU to warrant such a move. And our AD has gone on record stating we won't split our sports into separate conferences i.e. FB in BE and BB in the Big West. I can pretty much guarantee that won't be the case. The game time temp will probably be 85 with humidity of 20%. We're in the desert and 5,000 feet up. The air is thin here. That's our one major advantage. 17. That's an option but Vegas is a 9 hour drive from Reno. There is some public transportation but nothing to get excited about. We do have plenty of taxis in this town. You can definitely find enough stuff to do locally for 3 days. I would recommend getting a car even if you come into Reno. The Lake is beautiful...especially that time of the year. You can go up to Virginia City and easily spend a day there. The Grand Sierra is it's own resort. If you're bring kids then that's a great option. They have an arcade, bowling, driving range, go carts and a bunch of other things.
  18. You can't go wrong there. If I remember correctly they were voted one of the top 10 casinos/hotels in America.
  19. I'd recommend staying at either the Atlantis or the Peppermill. But you'll get a good experience at almost any of the casinos in town. The only casino I wouldn't stay at is Circus Circus, unless you're bringing your kids with you. Most of the major casinos are located close to the freeway which puts you 15 minutes from anywhere in Reno....including the University, which is only a mile or so from downtown.
  20. Your best option is going to be to fly into Reno directly, stay here and gamble all week. . But if you fly into California and drive up, San Jose, Oakland and Sac are your best options. Smaller airports, easier access, and they're not nearly as busy as SF. I believe they're also cheaper to fly into. Either way we're looking forward to you guys coming here in September. It should be a great game!
