But would firing him just push us back 3 more years? We don't have endless millions to pay coaches to not coach. The contract extension was unforgivable.  We did the same thing to Skip...

Push us back to what? We are at rock bottom here (though no doubt we will find a way to dig deeper against SMU and UCF). You're prolonging the inevitable by keeping him around, and pissing off the diehards that are honestly the only fans left because USF is not even an afterthought in college football.

As to your example, when we fixed the Holtz mistake we got CWT, which worked out pretty good for us.

  2. Jamey Chadwell from Coastal Carolina if we are getting an up and comer. Looking at third straight 10+ win season and we can double his salary.

Scott Frost if we are going a retread. Was a great offensive coordinator and turned UCF around in no time. Can recruit. He took his dream job and failed, but any retread we get has failed in one job.

  3. Nothing wrong with being excited by the Scott hire at the time. He was a hot name at a national championship program in the south. Potential was undeniable.

But after year two the proof was there. MK made a straight up foolish mistake extending him, and now he absolutely must go.

  4. I appreciate the positivity but unfortunately we are what our record says we are.

We are 1-5 and any thought of a bowl game is just begging for disappointment. Jeff Scott is a poor coach. There is proven talent on this team but he is not the guy to lead them. And this is coming from someone that wanted to give him a full three years.

Best thing that I can say about this squad is that they gave me hope in two games this year (Cincy and UF). Last year I only felt that excitement against UCF, and that was an ugly one.

    You just contradicted yourself...

He is an exception...that is not a contradiction.

If it makes you feel better a can say we are 1 for 3 on up and coming coaches, and I guess even that is debatable. I liked Taggart (he brought us our best team), but he was sub .500 if I remember correctly.

He also went doo doo style at Nebraska.

    So what? USF isn't Nebraska.

The list of coaches that fail at one location and have success at another is plentiful. Sometimes fit matters. While Frost seemed perfect for Nebraska at the time, he obviously wasn't (I also think they have underlying issues).

Frost will get hired somewhere, and he would be an improvement over CJS. To me, that is unquestionable.

Frost now has the same stink Charlie Strong had after failing at Texas. Just say ‘no’ to rethread coaches.

Also “we already have a coaching staff.”

    lol hopefully not for long.

We can't win with calling coaches up from smaller programs either (Taggart being the exception).

Someone that went 12-0 and turned UCF around from a winless season isn't a bad option right now.

Leavitt lost at least three conference games every year... not sure that is a "deep tradition of winning".  Yes, under CJL the Bulls won some OUTSTANDING games. Auburn. WVU. L'ville. FSU.

But had some AWFUL losses as well.  The 2004 Homecoming game against Army.  The Voodoo 5 loss against U Conn.  The loss on the road to Kansas under Charlie Weiss.  The 31-0 shellacking from Rutgers.  That freaking Sun Bowl.

CJL built this program.  For that he deserves a statue at the OCS.  However, USF never finished higher than 3rd in the conference, never won 10 games, and was 5-10 against ranked opponents as I-A/FBS.

Also, CJL never had a team finish ranked in the final AP or Coaches polls.

Your objection to USF being a winning program under Leavitt is showing that he was 95-57 and 4-2 in bowl games?

Sure, there were some bad losses. But I NEVER felt going into a game that USF would get throttled like I do now. Since Leavitt was fired, we have fluctuated between having bad talent and bad coaching, with the exception being a couple of Taggart years.

This program has slowly declined to where we are now. Rock bottom.
