Already are a laughing stock and have been for the past decade.
We'll get a new coach, and two things will happen in less than 3 years - A) he does well and moves on to more money B) he looses horribly and we are right back to where we started
We've had two B's and one A
And we are on LIFE SUPPORT as a program right now. Literally on Critical Life Support.
Sir, kindly remove your defeatist attitude from this program

Can someone tell me a single thing KB accomplished this season that makes him worth keeping in any capacity?
-
We don’t need a search committee. Kelly has a great football executive pedigree. I trusted he would make the right move in scrubbing Charlie, and he did. I trust him with leading this search himself.

Dan Campbell or Darren Rizzi if we go NFL...
I like the Kendall Briles or the OC from LSU, unless he brings a pro-style here. The co-offensive coordinator from Clemson is interesting but I'm also bullish on Lane and Willie.... We have some good options gents...
While I’m a fan of both from their Dolphins tenures.... No.
And Lane is incredibly wishful thinking. Not gonna happen.

It wouldn't surprise me either way. I could definitely see Arkansas or Ole Miss trying to make a splash with him, but I could also see a lot of ADs not wanting to bother with someone so high risk.
What is Kiffin’s current high risk?
All that matters is winning championships, and Lane is about to go 2 for 3 in that regard.
Career rehabilitated.

Things in our favor:
1) He's making $950,000. Assume we're going to pay whoever the next guy is $2-$2.5 million.
2) Florida, where he's been coaching.
3) Another step closer to being attractive to a P5 job. If he's already thinking that's going to take a few more years, why make $3 million when you can $6 million?
Things against us:
1) Pretty much everything else.
You don’t think Lane will get P5 offers? I hear he’s a top candidate for Arkansas

I'm all in on Lane. Why wouldn't we want a guy who's all about himself and looking for a promotion? The only way he's getting back to the big time is by kicking ass at USF.
Lane isn’t jumping from G5 to G5

I guess I was more disappointed with Holtz because his success brought him here. He was on the rise and failed. Strong was sub .500 at Texas and we brought him and most of that sub .500 staff here....never felt good About it
I think I’m also more disappointed with Holtz than Charlie. The only thing Skip has over Charlie is victories over big name programs. Especially that Notre Game victory, as fluky as that was.
Skip sunk us at the worst moment for realignment.
That said, Charlie stings more given he followed up arguably our finest season as a program and dismantled everything.

I’ll say this, Charlie is leaving us with more talent than Skip did

Even still, there was no better opportunity than freaking UConn? Just doesn’t add up to me.

This. We need a young offensive minded coach. Even if he leaves early that means we were successful.
Anyone know who the OC is at SMU?
Rhett Lashlee, who was an Auburn OC under Gus for I think four years. Not sure why, but he left Auburn to OC at UConn, a hell of a downgrade. Was he force out of Auburn? After one year of UConn, he jumped to SMU

How was our defense? You know that head coaches are responsible for both, right?
Taggart indeed was responsible for hiring the horrible Chuck Bresenahan. Then he got us Tom Allen for a year, who produced an incredible defense. Allen leaves for Indiana (and they had a relatively great 2019) and Willie chose Raymond freaking Woodie as the replacement.
If we could have paired the Allen’s defense with Willie’s final year offense, we would have been unstoppable.
If Willie does return, we need to make DC our top staffing priority.
EDIT: I still don’t want Willie back, but if we do go that route, we need contractual guarantees that he sticks around for 5+ years this time, lest he pay us a sizeable buy out.

CWT would bring his FSU recruits with him.
Just saying...
You think that players considered caliber for a P5 team that won a national championship in the last decade would follow Willie to the G5?
Its not like when Willie took a couple recruits to Oregon...

That’s a no for me. He needs to be a head coach at a smaller school first
Like when he went 4-2 at Miami?
Or does interim for half a season not count?

Just because something has been done doesn't mean we could afford it. You are making an assumption as much as those making the assumption we couldn't afford to fire him.
For the sake of the program, we very clearly couldn’t afford NOT to fire him.
And clearly, MK felt the same.

People and institutions do things they can’t afford all the time.
Because they know short term pain is worth long term gain.

The Ravens beat the 49ers, and Charlie Strong is fired. Today is wonderful.
Dolphins and Buccaneers also winning today

Ok but to tell people to screw off because they were wrong??
Not because they were wrong, but because they married themselves to a ridiculous stance that would continue to degrade this program.

Well I'm not surprised and not angry. When you can't see that Nick Robert's will get you fired then it's nobody's fault, but his own.
I hope Kerwin Bell gets the job.
You’re still here?

Why the hostility? We are all Bulls Fans with different opinions
“Don’t fire Strong because we can’t afford it” is not only an ‘opinion’ I didn’t recognize, it’s now been proven incorrect.

HE GONE
Everyone who said this was not possible, much less on a ‘church day’, can officially screw off, now and forever.
Especially Corey/G5Bullcrapper

I’m not sure why it would make a difference to MK.
Larry Scott HC?

An indicator? Sure. One of several indicators at any given moment. Context matters though. We’ve seen it with Skip, who couldn’t recruit and maximize Florida talent, despite his success before and after USF.
