He recruited them. No difference than saban or ucf having better players than who they have played. Obviously cjs had better players than who he played at Clemson and he wasn’t even the play caller. Obviously Willie taggart had better players here at USF than who he played. It’s called recruiting. You could have brought anyone in for 6 months to run the offense last year with our talent and they wouldn’t be good. Not his fault ccs didn’t recruit well enough. Bell has recruited every where he’s been. Why he’s won.
Fair point...

Bells offense is pro style/spread. No different than lane kiffin at fau or bama or LSU or any of the top offenses. Just got to be able to recruit your guys that fit what you do. Just because your qb can’t run doesn’t mean your not spread. Kerwin’s QBs at Valdosta st ran for 18 tds and over 1000 yards. Pro style under center QBs don’t do that.
In hindsight it seems like Kerwin just had better athletes at Valdosta compared to the other teams he played...

That's Noah Johnson
He hasn't gotten a fair shot yet...I think the next game should either be Noah or Cade...

I do not agree, this is a rebuilding year. They are not winning the conference championship, so why not explore the talent you have to see who you can coach up.
Because if you keep doing what they are doing nobody can get into a rhythm and develop...so you essentially just waste time as the coach's can't really see what they have...you MIGHT be able to do with two qb's...more then two though and you essentially accomplish nothing...we have just seen what happens when you throw every qb out there...nothing...nothing happens...

He has to decide on one qb and move forward...

I love it how some have already given up on Marsh, as if he's the second coming of Pat Julmiste or Ronnie Banks, despite having thrown a whopping 21 passes as an 18 year old true freshman. By the way, I remember QF playing poorly in his first start too, and having to be rescued by Mike White. I wonder how that turned out.
I, for one, would like to see more of Marsh before making any judgements. Preferably against a non-top15 team to see how he does. It's clear to me, he likely has the best (strongest) arm on the team, can get the ball down the field, and can give our receivers a chance on deep throws. Which is what some of you are complaining McCloud can't do.
Stop with the rational thought...he may end up being another Banks...but waaaaay to early to tell...isn't that the great thing about being a pessimist though? If things don't work out it's a "told ya so" and if they do it's a "hey glad I was wrong"

Tulsa now can claim they are the national champions by the transitive property and demand 1 for 1s from the big boys.
He did look better than Marsh as a true freshman though. I think we need to play Fortin, Marsh, and Smith only for the rest of the year. Find our 1a/1b for the future.
Absolutely...I would revise that and settle in one guy, whoever that is and let them develop...this is a throw away year anyway...

The receipe for the offense is a 3-3-5...Gabriel's eyes were bleeding trying to read that coverage....

They have a very Strong d line...will rush 3 and get pressure and play man to man covg.
They have a strong o line and a 230lb running back.
Yea we arent winning that game.
This...especially the rb piece...and a qb that hits his receivers in rhythm...but those rb ate them alive

UCF lost...that is all...

Every week people find something minuscule and pretend that if you stare into the sun for exactly 10 minutes, put a plastic bag on your head and tie it off at your neck, bang your head against the wall and then play the clip backwards while starting the dark side of the moon you can see the improvement brought upon by our new coach. Why you may ask would anyone do all of that in order to see something our current staff is doing better than the ones we **** canned? Apparently because we need it so facts, results and stats be damned. There used to be a time when having expectations beyond what is a term worthy performance was actually the norm and not a fringe idea but I completely understand how we have gotten to place where we can’t expect anything but showing up and being nicer to the media from out coaching staff but it doesn’t mean I have to like it.
Lmao...fair enough...

Who is saying we have improved on offense? I think we can all agree there are pieces missing that will either come by experience and/or recruitment...work in progress....

And...we were missing a bunch of starters...

Today I was impressed by the play of our defense. They were on the field a lot and held a good team to 21 points. It was also nice seeing some of the freshmen coming up big. It sucks losing, but the defense did well.
Agreed...we are bringing in pieces...its gonna take time...

He certainly did not show any speed the one time he ran to the right to avoid the rush...I could measure his speed with a sun dial
I'm not saying he is fast...he doesn't have to be...

My biggest physical concern with Marsh is that he looked slow when trying to run. I also did not see any mobility.
He seemed like he had quick feet and was able to avoid pressure pretty well...unlike McConcrete...

Very mixed bag at QB. After watching them all play, I can't fault the coaching staff for having difficulty choosing one. Varying talents mixed with varying drawbacks. Hard to see an obvious #1. BUT, I am very happy to see Marsh play. He looked more mature than I would expect a freshman, and his raw talents and decision-making shows he gives us a reason to be hopeful for the future at the QB position.
I personally would've let him continue to play...why not let him learn...

Sweet...I wonder what prior qb (qb's) set the record...

You have to go with Fortin or Marsh...McCloud is going to keep doing this...give them a shot...

The grass isn't always greener...as they say...

Defense played pretty well...great seeing a lot of freshman step up...hopefully we see some separation at the qb position in the second half
