True, but the buyout's not very big...

Do we know how much it is?  Really enjoyed watching that team play last night.  I've said it before, but I'd much rather lose a fast paced, higher scoring game than watch we've been seeing with Heath.  Same goes for football.  Would rather lose 42 - 35 that 10 - 6.  Winning is always preferable, but at least seeing some offense from a USF team would be, ummmm, different.  Baseball managed about 16 hits in the last 4 games.  A far cry from what we saw earlier in the year.

Sorry, not trying to hijack.  Just rambling thoughts.  Back to White.  I'll take him if it can be done.

    Here you go

"White signed a contract extension on April 1, 2013 that runs five years. If White leaves Louisiana Tech for another coaching job, he would have to fork over serious cash to Louisiana Tech in the form of a buyout: $500,000 before April 1, 2014; $400,000 before April 1, 2015; $300,000 before April 1, 2016; $200,000 before April 1, 2017 and $100,000 before April 1, 2018."

    Thx

Steve Massiello is dead to me.

    In no order

    1. Mike White

    2. Tony Barbee

    3. Shaka Smart (probably a lateral move for him) so maybe not here. Marquette or Wake Forest

    4. Archie Miller Probably up for big job now

    5. Steve Prohm

    6. Fill in the blamk

Danny Manning would probably  be a lateral moved to USF so I dont see it

Didn't Archie just sign an extension?  Is it easy to get guys out of their contracts?

I assume USF can upgrade the pay over Dayton, right?

    Thx

It's not always about the money. 7 years ago USF almost doubled the pay over Winthrop but couldn't pry Gregg Marshall out of there ...

But wasn't that because our facilities were horrible?

    Thx

  5. I get that some of you have never been involved with the hiring process and believe that USF botched this.  USF never made an announcement.  the information was leaked (which needs to stop).

Search firms and recruiters are often used in hiring professionals, so harping on that isn't getting anywhere.

Potential employees don't agree to background checks until there is an offer of a job.  I hired someone that we had to let go of because he failed his background check.  It happens (see O'Leary, Notre Dame).

Unless you know what came up on his background check it's really unfair to slam USF for this.

I think I may have to take a hiatus from the board until this is all settled.  For those who claim to be USF fans, you guys are sure quick to jump on USF about anything.

    Great post!!

I am sure USF could hire Billy Donovan and some portion of the people on here would moan about something!

    Thx

  6. I'm sure AC was down when Stan was fired. And I'm thinking AC can transfer and play immediately because he sat out this season -didn't play enough games. There are a lot of schools that he can go to with his talent.

Josh will probably follow his dad or leave. So if AC leaves, we'll have no proven PG next year.

AC is one of my favorite Bulls of all time.

I don't think AC can transfer to a Div 1 school and play right away.

    Anyone else know?

    Thx

  7.

I'd let this top 25 class that he just brought in play out before you start calling for his head. With the addition of top shooter Troy Holston, this will be a good program in a couple years.

Remember how many freshman we are currently relying on. Most of our starters are very young.

Wasn't Holston at the game last night? What are the odds he still comes to USF after watching that debacle?

    He already signed a LOI.

    Very good odds!

    Thx

  8. Since I just recently saw Bill McGillis' tweet, I'll throw this in:

    Bill McGillis â€@USFinsiderBillM3 Jul

Unreal physical development by @USFMBB's Zach LeDay. 215 lbs when signed with USF. Now a chiseled 240 at end of freshman year. BEAST.

I expect LeDay to step up and start to become a key player for us. Good to see that he bulked up since last year. He came on stronger towards the end of last season. Even though it was mainly because of other injuries, it was good playing time for him at least.

I'm curious to see how the incoming guys do like Egbunu, Perry and Bo Ziegler. We need a good big man and Egbunu could be that guy as long as grades don't stop him.

But what I really need to see from USF Basketball is a good game plan. Last year was hectic. We had two plays: Throw the alley oop or throw up a three. It was chaotic and injuries didn't help. Hope we can establish a better identity than that and have a better game plan.

Either way, I'm pretty excited for this year. We really need to have a good year to keep up recruiting though.

I think I saw Omo at the University Collection shopping center last week, and if it was him, he appeared to have lost a decent amount of weight.

How can you "think" you saw Omo somewhere? 7'3 and 330 lbs should stand out!

    Thx

committed to tx. guess that education didn't mean that much. I wasn't alone getting fooled on this one.

Or maybe he just figured Texas is one of the best programs in college football, has almost unmatched exposure, world class facilities, and is one of the best universities in the country.

Compared to Stanford?  Come on.  If I was a kid coming out of college and had a chance to go to Stanford, it would be a no brainer (great football school and world class education).  Stanford is a one of the best universities in the world, not country.

It would be a no brainer for you. Everybody has their own criteria for choosing a school ..... and of the worldwide universities rankings, Texas is in the top 10 of the "BCS" programs, top 30 overall ... I think his education will be just fine.

True, everyone has their own criteria.

I just know that an education from Stanford carries a ton more weight.  A quick glance at wikipedia shows Stanford is ranked across the board in everything.  I am sure if someone is hiring and they see a Harvard/Yale/Stanford/etc degree, they move to the front of the line.

I visited Stanford last summer and it is a gorgeous campus, I would never leave if I went there!!

"The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) ranked Stanford 2nd in the world in 2011.[118] ARWU ranked Stanford 6th in Natural Sciences and Mathematics, 2nd in Engineering/Technology and Computer Sciences, 6th in Life and Agriculture Sciences, 13th in Clinical Medicine and Pharmacy, and 6th in Social Sciences worldwide. In its subject rankings, ARWU placed Stanford 4th in mathematics, 6th in physics, 3rd in chemistry, 1st in computer science, and 6th in economics and business.

The U.S. News and World Report (USNWR) ranks it fifth among large universities for its undergraduate program in 2012.[119] In the 2012 U.S. News graduate school rankings, Stanford also placed in the top 5 for every discipline in which it was ranked, except industrial engineering, where it placed 6th, and fine arts, where it placed 36th. Specifically, Stanford was ranked 1st in Business, 4th in Education, 2nd in Engineering, 4th in Medicine, 2nd in Law, 1st in Biological Sciences, 4th in Chemistry, 1st in Computer Science, 4th in Earth Sciences, 2nd in Mathematics, 1st in Physics, 1st in Statistics, 5th in Economics, 2nd in English, 1st in History, 1st in Political Science, 1st in Psychology, 5th in Sociology. Within engineering, Stanford placed 1st in aerospace, computer, electrical, environmental, and mechanical engineering; 3rd in civil engineering; and 5th in chemical, material, and bioengineering.[120]

The 2011 QS World University Rankings placed Stanford 7th in arts & humanities, 2nd in engineering & technology, 3rd in social sciences, 6th in natural sciences, 4th in life sciences, and 11th overall.[121] In specific disciplines, Stanford was ranked 8th in English (5th in the United States), 11th in modern languages (7), 10th in history (8), 8th in philosophy (4), 7th in geography & area studies (4), 5th in linguistics (3), 2nd in computer science (2), 2nd in civil & structural engineering (2), 5th in chemical engineering (3), 2nd in electrical engineering (2), 4th in mechanical, aeronautical, & manufacturing engineering, 5th in medicine (3), 5th in biological sciences (3), 5th in chemistry (4), 6th in physics and astronomy (4), 5th in metallurgy (4), 4th in mathematics (3), 6th in environmental sciences (4), 8th in earth and marine sciences (6), 3rd in psychology (2), 6th in sociology (4), 1st in statistics, 7th in politics and international studies (4), 5th in law (3), 3rd in economics (3), and 5th in account and finance.[122]"
