I don't expect the true renderings (coming out in April) to look very much like these early designs. Maybe certain themes will remain the same?
Of course everyone is free to do what they want with what was released (including pick them apart, like in this thread), but I'm inclined to just wait and see what the more advanced April 2024 designs look like. Ultimately, whatever the nicest stadium we can get for the money is, I'll be happy with that.
I welcome the discussion. I'm not suggesting we shouldn't discuss based upon what was released. But I trust the people in charge (including professional engineers) to know what they're doing and to have USF's best interests at heart. If they screw it up, there's not much I can do about it anyways. Highly unlikely it'll be worse than what C. Florida has.

Oliver Luck probably wouldn't be interested, but... maybe someone should give him a call.

OK, now that makes more sense.

This time last year we were coming off season with one win, had just hired CAG, the stadium was still "I hope USF sees this through," we had no food, no jobs, and our pets' heads were falling off.
Now, present day, we've increased our win total (especially against FBS teams), CAG seems legit, we have a clear path to an OCS, and are going bowling in a few weeks!
Metal support beams or not - let's be thankful for the progress we've made.

I'm not 100% sure what you mean by "holes", but only area that seems to be "open" is the student area. The rest of the stadium seems to be contiguous.
Yes, the South side of the stadium will contain suites, loge boxes, and premium club seats.
There will also be a field level club area, which would likely be on the East side of the stadium.

Looking forward to the replies arguing that unless the OCS cost $500 million and is in effect the equivalent of an NFL stadium, it might actually hurt USF's chances - should have stayed in RJS. 3... 2... 1...

With any luck this mistreatment will hasten the departure of FSU from the ACC to the B1G and open up a spot for USF.

I'm not surprised that people are picking these CONCEPTUAL designs apart. And I won't be surprised that we'll have people complaining no matter what is ultimately built.
Looking forward to September 2027.

I think the stadium looks cool as hell.
Biggest disappointment is it appears there will not be much shade. As a Dolphins Season Ticket holder the shade we have at Hard Rock is a game changer. Worse part of Ray Jay is the heat. I would use some of the resources towards that.
East-west orientation and location of the tower should build in a significant amount of shade for the home side, plus the design will allow for adding additional shade structures later. I'm satisfied the issue has been addressed and not simply ignored like it doesn't matter (you're right, it very much does).

It does matter as we can only hope we end up in a conference that triples our current TV/post season revenue at a minimum. Without that extra $15-$20 million per year, it might be a rough road ahead.
Not only that, but we'd have way fewer teams to compete against to get a playoff spot. So there's that, too.

I don't believe we see renders today
I believe we get an update that's it
It's possible, but that would be an awful tease. Will Weatherford directly responded "see you Tuesday" to an X post begging for renderings at College Gameday. I think we do see something.

People are complaining right now and threatening massive changes but I bet by Wednesday everyone will have moved on (except for FSU fans, who will play this out in an endless loop like they do with their war chant aka the “tortured native”).

But not as cruel because you’ll only have to wait until tomorrow for the real deal!

I'm not sure it was that creative, more like right place, right time. ACC wanted to get into Texas on the cheap and SMU had the location and oil money, neither of which we have, to make it happen ....
This. 100% this.

Sole source, build team change. WW watching GD. My non-source tells me this is all related to shade/non-shade at the stadium. Cost per shade was outpacing budget. Time to look at different shade.
Obviously not clear yet, but if this change is to ensure there is some kind of (cost-effective) shade at the stadium, it’s absolutely the right decision (even if it delays the stadium a year), if the alternative was no shade. Would much rather they do things right than quickly.

Looks like we’ll be getting renderings on Tuesday, otherwise this would be an awful tease

the question is: Is the OCS still on schedule?
Yes, it appears so. Looks like the purpose of these changes is to give USF more control of what is built, and at what cost. But it's still on schedule - construction starts in 2024 and ends in 2026 in time for the 2026-27 season.

Any news on Traylor? I know Fritz took the UH job, so is Traylor on anyone else's radar? Or is he coming back to UTSA?
