  1. I think that this would be a great opportunity to waste UCF"s money and time. If you have the time, waste an hour or three messing around with them. that's time they can't sell tickets, get donations, or talk to their existing ticket base. We have at least 10k ticket holders right? If each of them just spent 1 hour on the phone with a UCF representative, they would be occupied for the next three and a half years.

Am I the only one who's concerned about how much money this tournament cost? Was it really even worth it?

Given the "CBI leap" for teams that play in the CBI one year and then tend to go to the NCAA tournament the next year, I feel it's worth it. Paying $40k plus gate for the semis and one finals game is a sound investment in terms of publicity. Of course, winning the darn thing will be great publicity for the next six months. We'll be one of only four teams in the country to finish the season with a win, and you can sell USF as a winner until we take the court again. This team doesn't lose anyone outside of Lang either.

Not to be a downer, but 3384 was distributed tickets including comps and students.  I'll bet we sold a max of 2500 tickets at an average of $14.50 (tickets were $17 and $12) for a total of $36,000.  Still not bad for this type of pay tournament with teams ranked over 90 or 100 out of 351.

    GO BULLS!

Given you can lose a lot more on a bowl game, I consider losing 50k to 70k on a tournament where we can sell the brand and winning basketball a small cost. Assuming we win, you can sell "CBI tournament champions" all offseason. A young team that won something could sell quite a few tickets next year.

There was a tweet I saw earlier that basically stated DePaul would have to hope that either WVU or USF lose in the next round in order to host. Apparently, they did not have a very good attendance number last night.

Given Rideau's injuries, may be a tough road. Of course if we win against Utah Valley all bets are off. USF is pretty close to them in ranking so the question is who the opponent is. If it's Loyola Marymount or Brown I feel confident they come here. I think West Virginia would be a road game unless attendance is insanely high against Utah Valley. Depaul is a toss up depending on their attendance performance.

This was a coaching masterpiece.  I defy you to find any basketball team at any level and take their top four players off the roster and have them compete and win.

Short term pain, long term gain for this team.  This will pay huge dividends down the road.

    Great job CJF and staff.

Every time you think CJL is done he pulls another rabbit out of his hat. These girls worked so hard to win that I believe it's changed the course of the program. They fought harder than many of the more experienced and talents we've had in the years since Courtney Williams and Alisia Jenkins left. This season and every painful loss to Cincy and UCF-and to UConn won't be forgotten. I think we will look back at this season as the year USF WBB went from being a really talented team that underachieved in the post season to one that starts making big runs to the next level.

Potential matchup with West Virginia in the semis

We have to beat stony brook and Utah Valley first. Stony brook will either struggle without their coach or be motivated to win this tournament as a testament to him.

Utah Valley is one of the two best teams in the tournament (they are in the 90s).

Wonder how long until UCF surpasses us in this ranking too or if that's just in sports..

Jokes aside, they will take a very long time to pass our med school. Even as they've done well on athletic fronts, their academic growth has lagged far behind ours, and unlike in sports, they can't construct an erector set imaging lab and try and compare it to CAMLS.

No one on that list is really under consideration.

USF has hired an outside firm to handle this... that firm can talk to anyone without worrying about Florida's Sunshine Law... people who move around at that level of academia do NOT want their current job to know of their interest in USF.

When the outside firm provides a final list of options to the Board of Trustees, then we will hear about them.  In fact, their 'application' (which is required for Florida) will not appear until after they have at least been put forward if not selected.

News reports are that a decision is expected next week. The search firm is asking for public applications now since there will be public interviews.

Thankfully, Coach Paschal was given the time to build the program and things turned out very well because of the patience that was afforded. I'm not sure that same thing would have been allowed to happen in this day and age.

Then why was CBG given a six year deal? I know we are essentially ahead of schedule, but that tells me administration expected a long rebuild.
