All I'm saying is this. We go undefeated next year and strong leaves, we'll be the tallest midget. We go one loss next year and strong stays we'll probably still be the tallest midget. The difference between a 13-0 USF and a 12-1 USF is not very big on the national scheme. However strong staying an additional year....that has greater impact than that one loss imo
-
Id rather strong stay. That would mean 2 years being a one loss maybe 2 loss team. But if we finish one loss next year end up highly ranked the next year with strong staying well, then you're in the national title convo. Who cares about being one and done, we would just be an after thought later, seen as a fluke. if strong leaves were looking at a rebuilding year. At least one. Continuity is a big deal in ensuring long term success

Outside zone is our bread and butter....

Might thoughts exactly.
How hasn't he watched his NEW team play a least a full game in replay by now? Seems a bit apathetic.
5 hours ago, The Great 8 said:I find it ridiculous that he, allegedly, hasn't seen more film. This is his full time job. People make this move all the time, and manage to do their day job. Not evaluating what worked, and what didn't, in a top 5 offense is just lazy, arrogant, and stupid.
I don't think you get hired to be the OC at Texas if you don't know what you're doing. It couldn't possibly be this guy is actually just working on different things or his own timeline or his to do list is ordered differently. All the pro analysts on this board obviously nailed it right on the head, the guys incompetent without even coaching one game. You would think this board is filled with Fortune 500 CEOs with how adamant everyone is on how to run a program

The whole fast paced high scoring offense makes our defense bad thing is simply false. We have a bad defense that has absolutely NOTHING to do with offense.

We should be up by 3 TDs this game should've never been this close

Forward progress was stopped shouldn't have been a fumble

At 5'9" he is not playing QB. Maybe slot or RB or both.
so Tags was not recruiting him to come here at QB?

I think the thing noone is taking into account is the fact that he is most likely no longer Taggarts prized recruit/go to at the QB position. Here he was gonna be THE GUY ala QF but at Oregon, you already see Taggart visiting the number 1 qb in the country in Hawaii, so it Tags lands some high profile qb I think that changes the game entirely.

All you guys thinkin I was in la la land....watch out, the Charlie strong hiring happened and that was the biggest domino that needed to fall.
To reiterate:
Our defense next year I believe will go back to Tom Allen levels, if not better given Strongs defensive aptitude and our guys will be juniors and seniors.
Our offense will be better IMO as the Oline will have gelled and most players are coming back.
I don't care what you guys say. If we win our bowl game, we WILL start next year in the low 20s High teens. ESPECIALLY because of all the buzz around Strong.
If we go on to play mean stingy USF defense like we used to but putting up video game numbers like we have been, we WILL be TOP 7 by the end of the year.
And at that point, a few upsets one way or the other....which cfp is always good for, were in the thick of it.
Im telling you, next year may very well play 3 ranked teams. Houston will be ranked when we play them most likely, the AAC championship game will probably have 2 ranked teams, and there's always one team that's good for a surprise run...Ucf temple navy being most likely.
So there you have it, you may think oh but there's too many IFs in play, yes.....of course there always is. But guess what?!?!
this is the closest we have ever been in USF HISTORY to making a run, and on paper it looks like we got a pretty good shot, and in CFB a prettty good shot is more than enough to go all in.

How long do these things usually take? Should we be expecting to know within the hour.....

REAL QUESTION: IF CHARLIE STRONG IS HIRED TODAY, DOES HE COACH BOWL GAME?!?! IF NOT IS HE STILL THERE IN SOME CAPACITY?!?! THERE ARE 20 DAYS BETWEEN NOW AND OUR BOWL GAME! THOUGHTS?

Did I miss this, or did we consider hiring Strong before Holtz? Did I remember correctly that Louisville grabbed Strong before we did?
We hired Holtz the year before Strong was hired by Louisville i believe.

Why would a Texas booster be taking Charlie Strong to Tampa?
There could be some boosters that still legitimately like and support him.

Someone on twitter said generally CFB coaches only go to the cities after contract negotiations are basically settled over the phone. Is this true? If so we could be looking at our new coach in a few hours

The fact that Strong is in Tampa today meeting with USF suggests to me that notwithstanding xCWT's offer Strong is inclined to accept the USF position if offered. If he's 50/50 or leaning DC at Oregon, why bother traveling to Tampa unless it's to seal the deal and meet some players?
Hes in tampa today?!? how soon could we expect an announcement if so??

Believe it or not.....
The whole thing USF has going for it is that mentality to stick it to the man (P5 and status quo) and forge its own destiny in every way possible.
What that means is:
Taking Dual threat QBs other programs say arent prototypical and believing in them(ala Flowers)
Hiring black coaches (still not entirely prevalent in CFB)
THE TRUTH IS:
Some of these kids, often times great ones, like Flowers, have had very hard upbringings and situations, and the most attractive thing to them isnt to sell them on this little good ole boys, white man's dream of college football, at the tennessee's, alabamas, of the world.
SOMETIMES the reality to say F that, Im going to the school that is breaking away and daring to not paint this fantasy world but the coaches/staff/players come from where I have come from....means WAY MORE.
USF needs to do whatever it can to remain in that niche, because there we have a shot to be special.

We might need to bring in a few more recruits in this year. Unfortunately we will be losing a few or a lot of transfers before next season. Get ready for those announcements in the off season.
ALL depends on the HIRE. If we can get a guy that makes a GREAT impression on the players and leaders like Flowers STEP UP and rally around him, I could easily see everyone staying, especially since they know next year could be THE year.
Watch game replay tonight?

Anyone know of any way to watch the replay of the game? Either online or through cbs app or Hulu or YouTube? Anything? Wish I could've seen it live but didn't have the opportunity. And I still haven't looked at the score for the sake of enjoying the game fully! So please no spoilers!
