Stinks especially because if I'm not mistaken we're still waiting to hear what the big news with Quinton Flowers was. Could be seeing a worst case scenario of both Porter and Flowers leaving and no QB in this class.

We didn't need a QB or RB in this class anyway.

Not sure we NEED a QB, but it'd be good to get one.  Not sure either of them is a true QB, but many here are closer to their skills than I am.

Don't think we need an RB either, but obviously, if we could land a stud, we snag 'em.

     WE NEED A QB

At the risk of getting tarred and feathered by the Taco Bus faithful, Taco Bus has nothing on TacoSon off 56th street. They just got done opening up a TacoSon in St. Pete as well. TacoSon is legit, check it out:

And to stay on topic, yes, I'm ready. :D

TacoSon better than Taco Bus? Even Cosh wouldn't make a call that bad.

Cochinita pibil is the best ive had. Just got back from Mexico, tacoson still had the best imo

  3. That's not the point. It's of course fine to want your team to get better, to be competitive, to win titles. But the fact is, USF has NEVER been that team. One conference tournament title in basketball, no conference titles in football, where does the sense of entitlement come from? It takes time. Woolard has had time, so it's time for him to go, but to expect his successor to come in and turn things around immediately, or even with in a couple of years, would be incredibly stupid.

Even the bad hire of Skip Holtz can be forgiven (though not the contract extension), because USF hardly has the pedigree to choose from elite, can't-miss coaches. Even the Floridas, Alabamas, and Notre Dames of college football make bad hires.

That's not the point. We have been going the wrong way. At least stay stagnant.

  4. What gives us, the USF students / alums / fans, the right or even the thought to expect anything better than average results in conference play over the long run?

The sum of all conference play is average, so for every conference member above average there must exist a conference member below average.. If all conference members demanded above-average results in conference play across all sports, by definition there could be no conference.

Why should we be so arrogant as to think we are better than our conference mates? Is it our history of success? Our rich and generous alumni donors? Our long record of sellout ticket sales? The huge group of advertisers beating down our doors to sell advertising at our sporting events? What?

Who is okay with mediocrity? What company strives to be mediocre?

  5. South Florida's Doug Woolard has a similar arrangement, only without the limits. They were removed in June 2012 by university president Judy Genshaft, who also is a member of the NCAA Division I Board of Directors — the group of college CEO's that governs college sports' top competitive classification.

In a letter offering Woolard a three-year contract extension, Genshaft wrote that she also was providing additional annual performance incentives "to demonstrate my intent and desire for success."

Woolard, who had been limited to $30,000 per year in bonuses during his first eight years at the school, now is eligible for bonuses "in equal and cumulative amounts to the performance incentives which are earned and paid to the head coaches according to those respective employment agreements."

South Florida's head coaches have incentives totaling almost $2.5 million.
