  1. So you’re saying that white coaches are just more qualified? How else do you explain the drastic differences in %s?
  2. Whatever % of them that don’t make good coaches is probably the same regardless of their race. Are you suggestion that black players are less likely to make good coaches? Based on what evidence?
  3. If this thread was created by a troll, why are you wasting your time here?
  4. That's not the relevant pool. The coaching pool typically is made up of previous players. There are several exceptions (e.g., Mike Leech) but for the most part coaches are previous players. The pool is the 53% not the general population‘s 12% (e.g., women, children, non-players).
  5. With all due respect that just isn’t the case. 53% of FBS players are black. Has been that high for decades yet there are only 13 black head coaches in all of the FBS. Without Deion joining the fold this year it would have been 12. Clearly not AG’s problem to fix, I’m simply responding to your comment that this is settled business. It isn’t and still will be in the minds of parents hence why I think that showing up with all white staff is tone deaf.
  6. I created it because it is the case. Which one of these guys do you consider to be a POC? Looks like all white guys to me. I even posted the photos. Hopefully, AG hires at least one of the speculated POC coaches mentioned in this thread but until then it’s all white guys. If that offends you, then go back to making your hypotheticals and pretending they are real.
  7. You’re not dealing with reality. You keep trying to compare something that actual happen to these hypotheticals you keep creating. At the end of the day, AG’s staff is currently all-white, Deion’s staff is as diverse as his players are. Your what-if analysis is pointless when we have actual data on what has happened.
  8. Why would that thread exist? The football coaching team Deion is building is super diverse. The coaching team looks like the players. You’re making it seem like the observation that Alex G only has hired white people came out of nowhere.
  9. Maybe this will be the case. Just hasn’t happened yet. It isn’t just about the #s the roles should be considered as well.
  10. They aren’t just football players. They are kids that are there to learn how to be men. Football is just the setting. What impact do you think it has on POC when they look up at leadership and none of them look like them. What do you think that does for their self-confidence and future aspirations? As a black parent, why would I believe this is the best place for my kid if black coaches aren’t employed? Who cares what he says, look at what he does and who he hires. If you ever play sports you’ll know that the coach is like your away dad while you’re on campus. If the coach is already showing bias for being around white coaches, why wouldn’t I think he has the same bias for mentoring white kids?
  11. This post is BS. You equating diversity with incompetence. They are not linked in anyway.
  12. First off, nobody pulled any race cards. I simply pointed out a fact that literally you and most of the commenters couldn’t handle. All Alex G’s coaches have been white up to the date of this post. He named 6 key coaching spots and every single one is a white male. There is 1 non-position coach left and both OL and DL is filled. I’m not saying that he won’t add more POC at some point but it hasn’t happened and key roles are getting filled. Regarding your point about waiting until the damage is done to say something. IMO that is dumb. Awareness should be raised while there is still something that can be done. Maybe an email to MK or AG is warranted before we continue down the road we are on. Your hypothetical is BS. I would prefer that my kids go to a school with diversity instead of one with just people that look like me. You, and several others in this thread, have been trying to twist my POV using ridiculous hyperbole and hypotheticals because you don’t seem to have anything intelligent to add to the conversation about the point I made. Alex has to walk into black, brown, and white homes with a team composed of all white dudes and try to convince the parents he is going to take good care of their kids. Most kids aren’t making the league so it isn’t all about football like many of the people here seem to think. They have no idea of the commitment that is made to the parents and what that expectation looks like. It has very little to do with winning when your kid isn’t a high stared recruit with league or nothing aspirations. I want him to succeed but I don’t think he is going to win many hearts and minds of people showing up with a team that looks like a boardroom from the 1970s.
  13. Of course it is. What are you suggesting? Feels like you are suggesting that this group represents the best of the best and making it more diverse would lower its quality.
  14. You said that not me. I honestly find it a pretty silly thing to say since many of our students are black and we are pretty bad at football. If I remember correctly we were 3 away from being the worst in FBS.
  15. To be clear, approximately 40% of the coaching staff at UT was non-white males. So the potential concern I’m raising didn’t exist at UT. Furthermore, it is a better school from a football perspective.
  16. Then why are you here posting on page 9?
  17. Has he really recruited anybody? This is his first head coaching job and he has been largely in the shadows. I’m concerned if he doesn’t show up to some of these parents houses with a diverse coaching staff he is going to run into issues.
  18. “Diversity is inherently racist”. I disagree. I believe that diversity makes teams better. “what if it was all black?”. Then it would be equally not diverse.
  19. Didn’t need to rush. It is still true. Hopefully that will change at some point soon.
  20. More gaslighting? Lol If you don’t believe in diversity, fine. I’m not asking you to change. But I’m not going to respond to your obvious attempts to gaslight me because you have nothing intelligent to say.
  21. All? Why not some. I’m certain there are many donors, stakeholders, and parents that don’t care at all about diversity, equity, or inclusion. You need to go no further than this thread to see that. Nothing but a bunch of gaslighting, assumptions, and angry people for just mentioning the fact that the coaching staff is all white men.
  22. It is the case. Do you really think it is over? Wish I could live in your world. That is besides the point. I don’t know Alex G or any of his team. I simply know what has been announced. As of this moment (may change in the future), his staff is all white men.
  23. You are missing my point and making another. I never said anything about racism just that having an all white staff may make it difficult to recruit POC. Think of it another way, if you were a black student getting recruited by an organization. One org has people that look like you in leadership roles, the other does not. Assume all else is equal which are you going to want to work for? Not that you want to work for people that look like you, just that you may think (right or wrong) that the one that is all white won’t promote you.
