You lost all credibility with the Bowden brothers...
Not so fast... they can win at our AAC level of play, they can recruit in FL and the south, and best yet won't bolt.
Joey Jones is my realistic pick.

I'd make the hire that gets us 2-3 great seasons.
1. Keeps recruiting up
2. Still winning
3. At that point, you're looked at as a great expansion candidate as a school
That is assuming that you can still win... there is an overwhelming chance that USF will fall flat on its face regardless of who we hire.
The odds of continued success are stacked against us right now.

I hope he falls flat on his money-grubbing face

Charlie Strong is not coming to USF, and for that matter neither is any power 5 big name coach. Sorry that is the truth. Larry Scott is a possibility but no, why you may ask? he has never be a coordinator let alone and head coach so nope. Here is my realistic names....Also they are all Jimbo guys or proven coordinators of head coaches....
1. PJ Fleck
2. Greg Frey
3. Calvin McGee
4. Lawrence Dawsey
5. Joey Jones
6. Neal Brown
Those are realistic names not fantasy, all have been either head coaches or coordinators at winning programs. I would love to see PJ Fleck, LD, or McGee as the head coach.
5- PJ Fleck - Yes (Who USF will hire)
- Greg Frey - No
- Calvin McGee - No
- Lawrence Dawsey - No
- Joey Jones - Yes (My Personal Pick)
- Neal Brown - No (He is a weenie)
As usual, I would like to see USF at least entertain Tommy Bowden or Terry Bowden - or both. But the likelihood of them doing this will be the same as them interviewing Jim Leavitt, so its a mute point.

If we hire "insert any coach's name here" then he will jump ship at the first offer he gets from a power 5 school just like Willie T.
Nope, there are older coaches with proven records that would be less attractive to the power 5 schools.
We need to stop hiring young coaches that are focused on money and big name programs.

Charlie Strong will leave the second he gets more money from a better school. So he would be the coach for 1-2 years assuming Strong could keep our team together and winning.
We need a long-term fix, otherwise this constant coach roulette is going to set our program back fan wise.

Will never happen as long as Judy is the President, but at this point I will trade you a Gentshaft for a Leavitt and a permanent/loyal coach any day of the week.

And here's why:
IF we can hire Charlie Strong:
1. Our defense next year instantly is top 25. And if thats the case we all know were going undefeated with flowers and company still in the game.
If we go undefeated next year putting up 45+ points every game BUT holding opponents to under 20. We WILL be in the CFP, no doubt about it. (given we will be ranked in the 20s high teens beggining of year if we win)
2. GUESS WHAT?? If we make the CFP next year and EVEN if Charlie Strong leaves, WE WILL be seen as the hot "Houston" team and we will get the best up and coming coach, which would continue to propel our success forward ala WKU.
3. In the realignment conversation we will all of a sudden be the hot commodity, which could increase our chances dramatically.
If we get Charlie Strong, and he keeps the same offense, I say watch out. Were going to the CFP, almost no doubt about it.
4If we hire Charlie Strong then he will jump ship at the first offer he gets from a power 5 school just like Willie T.

This makes me stand by my original opinion of Taggart as the modern day Professor Harold HIll.
JFC, no conference championship. no bowl win, ~.500 record, failed to win the games that matter and he flees without telling his kids or coaches.
Now that is a load of shiz... really pisses me off.
Again, this was a classless move by CWT. The players should have been the first people he told, even before USF Admin. Can't really be too surprised tho... he did the same thing at WKU. He was on the plane down to Tampa to collect his money and the WKU players were told later that day that CWT was leaving by some random Athletics stooge.
Real class act...
-
Just figured I'd stop by to say I told you so... I said that CWT would jump ship the second he gets us back on track. The only thing I was wrong about was the team. I theorized that CWT would jump ship to work with Harbaugh as a coordinator. Never thought that he would get an HC gig at a power 5 school based on one good season at USF.
If USF goes out and hires another hip young coach, like Strong, then we will be back in this same situation in 2-3 years assuming that the new coach can get us back on track in 2-3 years.
Also, I think its a bit classless of CWT to jump ship before the bowl game... I know that a lot of people do it, and get why they do it (i.e. recruiting at the new school, getting started, etc.), but that still doesn't make it better. Sends a message that he couldn't wait to get the hell out of here and basically used us. This really screws USF Athletics over in the realm of selling bowl tickets, and a big dump on school spirit.
I said it once, and I'll say it again... We need an older coach that is proven vs. some young or middle-aged coach looking for a pay-day.

USF can't fix anything...the ACC controls the game.
It is on their new ACC Digital Network...in 2019 this game would be on the main ACC Network.
One option for you is to sign up for Sling.com's Orange TV package for $20 a month and add the $5 Sports package...you get a 7 day free trial. Cancel next week.
Of course, you will need to remember your brand new Sling.com username and Password...go through the WatchESPN verification thing...it works pretty easy.
I know that the ACC controls the game, but in the past when the BigEast controlled a game and it wasn't on TV or on ESPN3, Brighthouse would pick the game up.
So with the Slingbox Sports Pack you can get ESPN3? Right now with my $20 package I have ESPN and ESPN2?
If this is correct then you sir are awesome.

I thought it went by provider not by tv package. Figured if you had an ISP that had it, you got it?
Maybe for other internet providers. I have brighthouse and unless I have the brighthouse TV cable package I can't use ESPN3.
So its either use pirate sites on the deep web, or listen to the radio.
-
Pathetic. If you don't have a cable TV package then you are SOL with ESPN3.
I haven't had cable TV in 5 years, not since Sling Box came out.
USF needs to fix this when the game isn't on TV.

I don't see how a bunch of hi-tech jobs will improve the standards in the area west of campus given that the people that live here lack tech degrees. So obviously these jobs aren't meant for them at all, which means that techies from other areas will be recruited to come in and fill those jobs. Maybe they think that these techies will buy houses or rent an apartment over in the west-side??
I also really don't expect to see techies with hefty salaries that will opt to live over on 131st street next to a crack house with prostitutes on every corner.
Hate to see more tax dollars wasted by failing to address the elephant in the room that nobody wants to address. Don't get me wrong, I love that they are trying to do something, but would prefer that they do something that will actually work vs. just being good in theory.

Stopped by Bealls today to see what kind of USF stuff they have and was surprised how little there was. I'm not sure if all stores are the same, but the one in Northdale area only had one rack of shirts. I'd say there was about 10 polo type shirts (2 different styles) and that was it! It was in a section of the store totally devoted to FSU and UF. This store traditionally has had a decent selection of Bulls stuff. I couldn't believe it. They even had a tailgate tent setup with a bunch of party stuff, but not one USF item. It kind of felt like 1999 when our stuff wasn't anywhere to be found. Frustrating.
Let's burn it down

USF should had just gone down to play it again sports, purchased some beat up 1970's helmet, wrote UCiF on the side and used that instead of spending $$ one.
-
There's a bunch of reasons as to why you can't get these seats.
1 - With the 3-game packs selling like fire, a lot of season tickets are going to be a no-go in many areas because you have 3-game individuals and groups taking those seats off the market.
2 - If memory serves me correct, the last time FSU came to town a bunch of FSU fans bought up season tickets enmass, only showed up to that one single game and then sold the rest of the tickets on stub hub.

If the BigXII has to add Houston, then that only leaves 1 spot if they decide to remain at 12. Given that the odds are not good for USF given that WVU is lobbying heavy for Cincy, and BYU is a wild card.
Hopefully, the BigXII chooses to expand to 14 teams.

$120 a ticket for upper level??
What do you think this is... Steely Dan concert or something?

3,000 new season tickets is a good start, but how does that mesh with the drop in season ticket sales over the past 2 seasons?
Are we back to pre-Skip Holtz levels?

This helmet looks better with some of the old 1980's USF yellow-gold

Make it happen...
As long as USF insists on doing the same stupid thing over and over, where we hire a young money hungry coach then we will need this clause in play.
