  1. UCF's current streak is 13. They have not announced an opening week game but I have to imagine they are looking for a 1AA to open the schedule instead of FIU again. After that they are in the Big House of Ann Arbor then host Maryland. Their 17 game streak should be safe.

EDIT: FIU's opening weekend is already booked with Indiana, unless UCF picks up a noteworthy opening week game from a P5 it looks like they will have booked a 1AA into that timeslot. Maybe they are saving the date with FIU for "Jiffy Lube Rivarly Week"? That game was much closer. :GoBulls:

  2. Let's be real here, unless you are working on the double jinx there is no reason why we (the fans) should be worried about this game. If you are secretly Coach Willie then please stop posting on this forum and keep the boys focused and fired up.

UCF is allowing almost 200 yards a game on the ground. They are giving up 50 points a game over the last 4. They do not have a Brandon Marshall or the hype of avoiding the sweep working for them. This team gave up 2 months ago.

  3. I am not sure that's true - I belive its the highest ranked G5 team that would be selected. While its logical to assume that would be a conference champion, I'd have to think there would be a higher ranked G5 team than a 9-4 USF team is everything broke our way.

The highest-ranked champion from the "Group of Five" conferences (The American, C-USA, Mid-American, Mountain West, and Sun Belt) is guaranteed a berth if the group's top team is not in the playoff.[50]

  4. To all my critics, I'd love to be able to review all your commits that you have made over the last 2 years. My opinion hasn't changed, can you say the same?

This isn't abortion or gay marriage. Drawing a line in the sand on the issue of coaching and/or play making ability is senseless.

So no, I cannot say my opinion hasn't changed. This team has strung together 3 solid games (against struggling teams), and hopefully they can continue to put up W's.

  5. You obviously started drinking way to early today which has caused you to forget everything that has happened since CWT took over. I'll give him credit for being a good recruiter. And it's that talent that has made CWT look good these last 3 games. Because the coaching and offensive play calling have been horrendous during most all the games. He has lucked out so far this year because Flowers is no QB. He should be playing running back cause he's so inconsistent with his passing. With a good QB the leading rusher should not be the QB. He had to step up since Mack didn't play and the other backs didn't produce. Which proves my point that he should be a running back. IMO keep Taggert for recruiting but we need a new and better head coach.

So you are saying Matt Grothe wasn't a good QB? Pretty sure he lead the team in rushing 3 straight years.

  6. First of all, the racism statement is complete nonsense. Second, where in the world are you getting your numbers from??

    1. Grothe had 9 passing TDs through his first 7 games and 7 INTs not 8 and 8. He also added 7 rushing TDs during his first 7 games. So he had 16 total TDs vs 7 INTs.
    2. How many of those 137 attempts are the jet sweep which is 100% completion percentage for Flowers? 25? 30? Say he actually throws the ball downfield on those and his completion percentage which is worse than Grothe's in the chart above ends up being even lower.
    3. Flowers has 14 total TDs (10 passing) vs 6 INTs (wrong number in the chart again).
    4. Grothe had 1,388 yards passing through 7 games in 165 attempts. Comes out to a 8.41 yards per attempt. He also completed 104 of his first 165 pass attempts. Comes out to a 63% for completions.
    5. Grothe's record through his first 7 games was 5-2.
    6. Flowers has completed 83/137 for 1,046 yards which comes out to be a 7.635 yards per attempt.

So here is the REAL break down.

    Completion %: Grothe 104 completed, 165 attempted pases = 63%

                          Flowers 83 completed, 137 attempted passes = 60.5%

    Pass Yards:    Grothe 1,388 yards

                          Flowers 1,046 yards

    Yards/Att.:      Grothe 8.41

                          Flowers 7.635

    Record:          Grothe 5-2

Flowers 3-3* Let's be honest, would be 3-4 had Taggart ran him out there for the final possession of the SMU game.

Good try though. I really like what I've seen out of Flowers. Every game Taggart seems to trust him more and Flowers has rewarded him by playing really well. You obviously got way ahead of yourself above, or purposely fudged numbers.

You can't read. I said starts not games. Grothe came in on relief duty of Pat Julmiste in his first appearance. Even if you include that first game instead of the atrocious 7th start Matt had (versus Cincy) they are VERY SIMILAR. Competition is pretty even as well, arguably Flowers has had a tougher schedule to this point in their careers. Like another poster said Grothe thrived on bubble screens and made his share of dumb mistakes (his pick versus FIU almost lost us that game).

Update your numbers after the next game (when Matt's stinker vs. Cincy would be included) and we are right back to my #'s, unless Flowers gets hurt.

All numbers I cite are from sports-reference.com game logs.

Stand by my statement if Flowers is white the sub-conscious would favor supporting him instead of trashing him.

EDIT: In his rookie year Grothe had no RB's, but I would take the WR core from back then any day of the week. The overrated Amp Hill would be our best receiver today and he finished like 6th on the team in receptions

  7. I think some of you are suffering from a deep seeded racism when it comes to this topic. Over the first 7 starts QF compares very favorably too the best QB in USF history:
