  1. For what it's worth, the University of Southern California doesn't play on campus - although the stadium is only a few blocks away. They have a 98-year lease for the Colesium and part of the lease they run the day-to-day operations, they also have to pay $100 million for renovations, maintain the building, and they still pay $1 million per year in rent for the right to do so.

How about that?  Paying rent while also paying to operate it and paying to maintain it!

(The parking lots at the Colesium are also used by a couple museums -- and the museums will get some of the parking revenue on an annual basis, something they have been doing for quiet some time.)

Not a few blocks away, it is across the street from USC campus.... just have to cross Exposition Blvd.

  2.

Actually, 20% of FBS schools play at OFF campus stadiums including P5 programs like Oregon, UCLA, Washington, NC State, Baylor, etc..

    http://www.footballgeography.com/list-of-fbs-stadiums-sorted-by-distance-to-the-campus/

Washington is on campus. Baylor moved to campus this year.

NC State and South Carolina play "off campus" in facilities that are designated as athletic complexes for the university. They're also literally blocks away from campus.

Oregon's stadium is "off campus" because it's in a giant University of Oregon athletic complex that sits across the river from the campus. It's walking distance. In fact a lot of people tailgate/park on campus and walk over the river to the game.

Correct, Washington's stadium in on campus.  Also, Baylor and Oregon have on campus stadiums but its on the other side of a river, connected to campus through a pedestrian bridge

  3. can we at least.. BRAINSTORM on where it would actually fit?

Step 1) Where would we put it?

Step 2) Does the location have enough room to fit the stadium, plus 20,000+ parking spaces?

Step 3) What kind of a conniption fit would the local residents have, when they realize that a stadium is being built within earshot of their house? This stadium is going to host other events other than football. (Concerts, motivational speakers, etc)

There is quite a bit of empty real estate west of the Embassy Suites (where they used to do the Christmas car rides), ya'll thinking about putting it there?

Obligatory aerial with the former Orange Bowl on our campus, at scale.

Also,  the entire campus would become a parking lot on game days.

  4. I don't see the advantage?

Where are the UF / FSU med schools?

On campus... but they're not in major metropolitan areas.  I believe we are looking at the model used by Tulane, UofArizona, and Ole Miss.  These schools have their medical schools in urban core but some also have some aspects still on campus.  I believe I read that for our situation, we would send 3rd and 4th year med students downtown.

  5.

The only thing that would make me downright giddy about this proposal is seeing some concrete plan to connect downtown to USF with a better public transportation option beyond HART bus service. This doesn't sound so stupid to me.

Make a straighter connection to downtown with the Hillsborough River connecting with the Tampa Bypass Canal (which I've never actually seen anyone ever use) and BAM!  Problem solved with City of Tampa public speedboat transportation.

They are currently building a pedestrian greenway under the crosstown to connect the river to channelside and eventually Ybor:

  6. Played there on Monday, was in the best shape I have seen in a long time, The greens were rolling nicely.  Still a beast to score on.  Well worth a visit, they are doing their best to get people to give them another go, at $20 for a Monday afternoon including cart, it was a bargain.  Think the weekend fee is only about $30

Check out GolfNow.com... I use their app and can usually get on the Claw for $15, varies on time and day.

  7. @USFOracleSports: A fight broke out after @USFMSoccer lost to Tulsa 4-3 involving Lucas Baldin and the Tulsa goalkeeper. More coming in tomorrow's recap

The Tulsa goalie thought it was a good idea to approach the Goalmouth section after the game and ran his mouth.... Lucas saw this from the sideline and rushed after the goalie to give him a piece of his mind.  USF team stormed over to the confrontation and the next thing I see is the Tulsa goalkeeper running out of the crowd like a little girl.  Their goalie was a punk, delaying kicks towards the end of the match well beyond ten seconds.  Their coach was also classless, turning to the home stands to shout out that his players never miss penalty kicks and yadda yadda....  Apparently the guy can't handle away games

I laugh at how a few years ago wins didn't matter, it was TVs.

Now UCiF escapes a bunch of cupcakes and suddenly they're hot.

Yeah, beating Penn State, #6 Louisville, and #5 Baylor on the road really hurt UCF's image. I'm just glad we didn't have McNeese St and FAU to overcome on our schedule.

The reality is UCF is now a nationally known brand. Get used to it and get a life.

Not national by a long way, maybe feels that way in the Orlando-Oveido-Sanford area.

People still confuse UCF with USF as much now as when USF routinely stomped mudholes into UCF.

Don't forget to include that coveted Bithlo market also

Kidding aside, I agree.  Would be nice to see a grand signature building.  Polytech has the ****** shaped building:
