There is something out there called The Greater Fool Theory re: crypto currency. You can look it up. Haven't read a lot about it but as long as some fool is out there willing to pay more for something intangible you'll do just fine.
Only if I can get the time machine working. I'm too old for this kind of stuff now. I like growth, but not anywhere near that much risk.

I am actually adding Basketball, conference realignment and how bad we have been over the past 3 plus years. Maybe not long but this ditch is deep as hell? Better?

Bitcoin and especially Ether and almost all crypto have been en fuego and have been outperforming the market. I am pretty confident we hear nothing about anything and we get smoked manana, happy homecoming everyone!
I bought Ethereum, Lightcoin, and some coin I can't even remember the name of right now back in 2018 . . . right after they all peaked. I thought there was a dip! But, nope. Then crypto went into the toilet for a couple years and I offloaded them at a loss . . . only to watch them all catch fire again. Sigh. USF and I have a lot in common.

One only needs to look at the Women's soccer last night... there are students that show up to on campus events. It is a convenient distraction and a great atmosphere AND A SHORT WALK!
Soccer isn't my thing, but I totally agree. For me, it's WBB. Best deal in town. Tickets are cheap, the game is good, and it feels good to be on campus again.

This whole stadium thing is beginning to feel like the Yahoo Finance boards where the pumpers constantly speculate about whatever stock they're pushing that "this is the week we go to the moon".
Stocks might be generous. It might be more like ****coins at this point. LOL.

Based on the time and the event I personally did not hear that as a promise…just one guy (ok, one important guy) who was giving some motivational words about a stadium. But hopefully something happens soon enough.
I guess. I'm just getting fatigued by all this. I've been vested emotionally and financially in USF since August of 1990 when I matriculated. Not as long as some, but long enough. Went to grad school at USF, too. I'm getting tired of seeing USF falling over itself time and time again. I stopped coming to TBP for a long time because I just couldn't deal with seeing USF botch one thing after another and then come here and read about it, too. I came back when UCF got announced as going to the B12, and then there was the OCS statement, and I naively thought, "hey, things look like they're changing. Maybe we got this now!" But, it's starting to feel like USF is going to be USF no matter what. We don't got this now.

The question is are people going to complain more if they are given tidbits that may change as contributions and major gifts are brought in, or if they have to wait until a major donor signs a deal and they know what it is they will be able to present, along with a timeframe.
Personally, I would prefer that they wait. I'm in the software business and hate selling "vaporware".
But, it wouldn't be vaporware. It would be crowdsourcing the funding for writing the code, marketing, distro, etc.
You say, "this is what we want to build, details to come, but we're going to start fundraising on this date." That shows an actual real life commitment and gives them time to work out details like what this thing will look like, where it's going, who's building it, parking, timeframe, B12 demands, whatever, and gives supporters the ability to start contributing. Supporters see something is being done, they're empowered to get in and help, and the likelihood of the product making it to market is increased because funding is coming in.
I don't really care what the stadium is going to look like. I don't care who's providing the steel or the concrete. I don't care who's contracting for the concessions. I just want a date stated where I can start contributing, because that will make this all real. And I don't see why that hasn't happened almost two months after Weatherford made his statement.
I guess I should just stop reading this thread because the more I think and obsess about the statement, the silence since, and the usual USF way of doing things, the more pissed off I'm getting. And I can't be the only one.

I don’t recall the dude promising anything. It was more like USF needs a stadium and now is the time.
"And I'm here to tell you we are going to do it" - Will Weatherford.
That sounds like a promise to me. Or just BS talk from a sleazy politician.
Of course, he didn't qualify "going to do it," so I guess he's got an out there. "We are going to do it . . . " a) when hell freezes over, b) 100 years from now, c) in your dreams . . .

Yeah we need more of that right now.
More BS, false hope, or outright lies?
I'm not that old, but back in my day, if you said you were going to do something, you did it. If you committed to something, you followed through. You didn't promise something and then ghost your core base.

I love that Weatherford said what he did. I totally disagree that he should have said nothing.
There are people like him and CJS and VPMK who are trying to paint a very optimistic picture of the future. Some will call it reckless or naive. I say... eff it I am in.
It's confusing for casuals and frustrating as hell for fans/alums who genuinely think an OCS is the way forward for the program and for USF. To make a statement like he did and then follow it up with crickets for two months, that's just a bad, bad look. That's USFing it in the most USF way possible.

In all fairness, he was not the first person to mention the OCS.
Coach Scott had alluded to an OCS during the kickoff luncheon downtown a few weeks prior to Will Weatherford saying anything.
So, is an OCS coming or are Coach and Weatherford just giving us the benefit of their opinions? Is there an official USF position on the OCS?

We also heard unconfirmed rumors from some questionable sources posted in the conference realignment thread that more B12 expansion to be announced in November. I’d be fine if USF wants to announce the OCS at the same time as the B12 announcement. That would be just fine.
Either announcement would be huge. If I had to choose one at this point, it would be the B12 invite. But, it sure would be nice to get both.

Nah, I would rather wait until the season is complete before giving judgement and support these players who are working hard. Not in denial, but if I am going to **** on the team in the middle of the season.
Agreed. I'd also say we need to give CJS a couple more seasons. Has he shown anything that makes me think he can turn it around? Not really. But, there were extenuating circumstances. More than that, though, we need some **** stability in coaching. This carousel of (bad) coaches has destroyed the program. We can't afford to reboot the program yet again, especially if there's any way at all we're in play for the B12 right now.
If somehow we boot CJS without having to pay him off, what then? We bring in another unknown (either washout/scandalized from better program or an up-and-comer from D2 or whatever who may or may not have the chops for this level) and we're back to square one. Rebuild culture, rebuild game, loose recruits, gain recruits, yadda yadda yadda. Three more years of trying to crawl our way back.
This isn't basketball, I don't get the people who think we can just plug in a new coach and go 9-2 the next year. That just can't happen. And if it were to happen anywhere in the world, it **** sure wouldn't happen at USF. Have they all forgotten about the curse?

What I don't get is the radio silence. Weatherford, I thought, stated that info was coming soon. Well, 2 months is soon to me. It's not soon in a geological sense, granted, but with something this heavy being announced, you'd think that soon would be, well, sooner than 2 months of total radio silence.
John Lewis has confirmed-ish in a few threads that an OCS is actually being worked on by athletics. What is reasonable, then, for more information coming "soon." End of the year doesn't cut it for me. 4-5 months later before another statement is not "soon" to me.

Well I think they would if they could. I agree with what you are saying though.
I guess, but this just makes me wonder why they can't? I doubt this thing is already paid for, so what would be so hard/risky about announcing the start of fundraising on a certain date? That they're not makes me think this thing isn't a serious possibility yet.
I agree with E.T., Weatherford should never have said anything.

Welp. I guess that's that on the announcement. Frustrating. I guess the USF position is that every last detail has to be ironed out and locked down before this thing is ever even discussed again on the basis of someone somewhere possibly asking something that they may not yet have an answer for. Interesting strategy. This school is killing me.

I'm hoping for a win against Tulane, losses to everyone else. Better than last year.

remember the old conversation that FSU would Never agree to let another FL team into the ACC
I believe you are correct
If the B12 can have 47 Texas schools, the ACC can have 3 Florida ones!! LOL.

Talking to a FSU guy over at the grocery. Of course we get talking some football. He say's, you guys were so good what has happened at USF? Yes, another proud moment. I explain that we have had a series of coaching turnovers a couple of which drove us into the ground. He then talks about the 3 leaving for B12. He said the talk at FSU has been to start moving towards some expansion in ACC. Coastal Carolina has been in the conversation??( I think NCST and UNC would be a NO) He mentioned a couple others but none started with a USF. Interesting...produce section conversation.
If Coastal Carolina gets into the ACC and USF doesn't, I think I might literally die. The ACC is my dream USF destination. That affront would be more than my heart could take.

Urinal vs Sink? probably doesn't matter since the sink will be catching some pee during halftimes when the lines get long ..You know they do.
Haven't seen this at a football game, but definitely at pretty much every concert I've gone to. Sink = urinal.

We should have an entire toilet stall. But, a urinal at minimum.
With charging ports built in so we can post to TBP while on the throne at halftime.
So... do we think we'll get the OCS announcement this week?

That's got to be positive. I guess the more people of influence saying we're going to do it, the better. But this week has got me downshifting my enthusiasm by several gears. I'll believe it when I see it, ultimately. But, I haven't totally given up. I still think an OCS will make a big difference in students' and local alums' game day experience and it's a huge statement by the university. Hopefully it happens.
