In general classic is better than fads when you look back, but don't tell that to our mirror neon puke unis.

Personally, that's what I'm afraid of. Yes, there's the danger of this thing being compromised by too much concern for cost, but I'm a lot more concerned about USF trying to be too cute or modern or whatever and coming up some bizarre trapezoid thing that isn't even identifiable as a stadium. That's not how I want us to differentiate ourselves. When I come back to campus, I don't want to walk onto the set of some weird sci-fi movie.

I like the Huntington Bank Stadium... But it is expensinve.

Why not just do something similar to TD ECU stadium (with slightly better amenities) with the same capacity ($40k)? It was an excellent price!

This one works for me, too. Football, much less futbol. (That leak, I just can't shake that it looks like some ultra modern take on a soccer stadium).

Minnesota's stadium is a good "I like that one" for me. Not quite as extravagant as OSU's, but looks very similar in design with 10k less fans. Subtract another 10k (to get to 40k) and paint it green and gold, plus more shade application.

That's definitely closer to what I was hoping to see, i.e. something traditional, or traditional with a USF twist.

So have we discussed the latest leak of the renderings? Everybody hates in on 247. I'm partial to the bottom right. Why go traditional? I like this look.

Add me to those that don't like it. Reminds me of a soccer stadium or, hell, maybe even a D2 stadium. Not an FBS one, even for us. If we want to create a more traditional on-campus football experience then I feel we need an actual traditional on-campus stadium.

It feels like USF isn't even trying anymore. I'm inching closer to the "fold the whole program" camp. We're not even being given a chance here. How many players will portal out now? How many recruits can this guy possibly get? I'm totally, completely confused. It's almost like VPMK was sent to USF to fold the program.

I'm gonna quote myself, because why not. I retract my knee jerk reaction to this hire. Coach A isn't splashy, but after doing some reading on him, seeing the video released of him talking to the team, etc., I think he's a good fit and I think he can take us where we need to go.

At the same time, after seeing the video of Deion talking to the CU team, good lord I think we dodged a bullet on that one. I'm all about setting a tone of excellence on day one, but basically trashing the whole existing team and telling them you hope they all hit the transfer portal because that's more room for his guys, ****, what a great way to lose the team. Not exactly classy.

Very little. These changes are mere formalities except for pruning the trees of dead wood

I'd say bowls are and will still be a big difference (idiotic sponsorship/names of those bowls aside). That seems to be the one tradition we're still kinda holding on to in college football. And the greater number of schollies will attract slightly better athletes (on average).

To be honest, though, D2 is starting to appeal to me more than FBS or FCS at this point. Real regional conferences, regional rivalries, etc.

  8. Every time I read about west coast or midwest teams to the ACC, I die a little more inside. I know geography doesn't matter anymore (we're told), rivalries don't matter, etc., but shouldn't the name of the **** conference at least describe what it is? B1G and B12 are pretty neutral, location-wise, and SEC is pretty broad if you squint while determining where the line for South or East is. But, the A in ACC and all of PAC are pretty definite and specific. I really hope this crazy cross-coast conference crap dies out soon.

This sounds great, just like it did last year when you said the same exact thing but if for some strange reason we don’t go bowling again this year I’m sure it will be because all of these players are no good and there are still 5 ccs recruits on the team and just wait until year 4 that’s the year CJS will show us all and finally get to .500. I mean obviously not for his career as that’s going to take a decade with the hole he has dug for himself but for the first time in a single year and if not then well obviously year 5 he can probably do it.

You kinda have to have hope, though. No? Otherwise, what's the point?

I know a lot of the focus was on the OCS, rightfully so; but, when I heard MK say we were adding lacrosse, I got excited!! Lacrosse is awesome and I think it’s growing really fast so it’s good to get it going as a real varsity sport is a good idea. As a side note, I don’t think we ever get into the BIG, but ACC is big in lacrosse which may help, haha.

It's like Quidditch, but on the ground, right? Seriously, though, I'd have to look up the rules. No idea how it's played other than use broom/stick/net thing to throw ball into goal.

In my opinion we should shut down the football program because it's failed. A new stadium is the equivalent of fixing up a beat up old car that has 200k miles on it and doesnt run. At some point you just have to write it off as a mistake and move on.

How can an entire program fail? Has Texas failed? FSU? Miami? UF? They all won National Championships but none of them are now who they were when they did. Should they shut down? Miami is so not Miami anymore that the school hired a new AD and new coach and they're building a new stadium. Should they have skipped all that and just shut down? Not even Alabama has been Alabama for its entire history. They've had slumps like every program.

We were #2 in the country (ha ha, but BCS computer glitch or no, it's in the record books). We've beaten some huge P5/BCS programs. We've won six out of ten bowls we've played in. To say all of that doesn't count and we should fold is just weird to me. If you're an alum, why would you want that for your school and for future Bulls?

When I want to waste money I just buy spy puts or do elaborate 10 game parlays. Can't imagine donating to an organization that has failed so miserably.

So everyone should pout and bail now, when things finally appear to actually be happening? Won't that just ensure failure rather than help create the success? I wish we would've built an OCS 10-15 years ago, but I'll **** sure take one now vs. never.

For those that didn't believe we'd have an OCS . . . do you believe it's happening now?

College Football GIF by USF Athletics

Believe-ish. I'll feel better after June 30, 2022. And even better once the heavy equipment moves in and starts digging. But, this is the strongest push yet. I hope it happens.

Why would the big 10 not go with FSU or Miami?

In my fantasy long game, FSU and Miami would go to the BiG and we'd go to the ACC. The ACC is our natural conference and is the only one that makes sense in terms of travel, etc.

Having said that, I'm down for any P5 conference, including PAC-12 (hey, we are on the West coast . . . of Florida)

USF Reveals On-Campus Stadium Feasibility Study - The Daily Stampede

So these were the 4 original proposed sites . . . am I understanding the Board confirmed they are looking in the NE portion of this photo also?

Hmm. That's kinda a bummer. I was hoping for somewhere near where the track and field stadium is, as was mentioned in another thread. Maybe that's the NE portion? Unless they want to go even more north. I liked the idea of having the stadium near the IPF.

I really don't like B. That's not on campus. Granted, it's across the street. But, still.

link to the agenda that mentions June 30th as the deadline for the stadium scope, location, and budget

Great job, Bulloni. That's definitely promising. This PDF is a lot more detailed than the previous one. I like that snapshot of the president's direct report goals. Interesting that we're shooting for June 30, 2022 to finish the IPF. I'd heard it would be ready prior to next season, but nice to see a specific date. And scope, location, budget of the OCS on the same day? Woohoo! Fingers crossed we stay on schedule.

  17. I keep telling myself that I'm going to stay away from OCS news/threads and yet I always return like some dumb moth to the most poorly lit flame ever. The fact that there's nothing specifically referencing an OCS on the agenda makes me think the Dec 7th thing was just rumor, speculation, BS, misunderstanding, whatever.

Only thing certain is that one day USF may or may not have an OCS. Maybe.

Would have loved to have heard puc's take on him .......

This board never fails to entertain. Our hires are too young, too old, not experienced enough, too experienced so why is he settling for here ...... gotta love it.

Yeah, I don't get the too old/too much experience complaint. Some kids (I would guess most kids) want to play for someone who can teach them something, someone who's shown they can do the job at bigger/better places, who can maybe get them to the next level as a player. A young and hungry coach has a giant cloud of question marks all over them, no matter how hip or street or whatever they may be.
