  1. And this is what we get for having our President involved way, way too deeply in USF Athletics.  We are essentially neutered by a crazy woman who knows violation about athletics.  We truly won't improve unless she gets her fingers out of the athletics pie or the BOT has finally had their fill of her micromanagement and gets a replacement in here who can effectively manage that side of the university through great hires and letting them do their work.  If they don't get it done (AD level only) then get them replaced.  The AD is in charge of the coaches and their hiring and firing. KNOW YOUR ROLL!!!!

Did I miss something where it said Judy has anything to do with this search or are you just making that up on your own?

  2. I know it doesn't happen often here but I thought I might make a positive observation on our Athletic Department.

Compared to years past, I thought the gousfbulls.com site did a great job covering all the practices with the videos and the articles. Previous years you might just get random player/coordinator 5 minute interview with suspect camera work and a half assed write up every few days. But this year I thought it was a great format to showcase each position with a different video every practice that showed players in some drills, player interviews, and interviews with the coaches. Also, having Jim "The Voice of the Bulls" Louk as the narrator during the videos brought a polished feel to them. The write-ups seemed to be improved as well as they were nicely written and gave plenty of insightful information. All in all I would say that the coverage on gousfbulls.com felt like it was more professional and coming from a real D1 University, instead of just haphazardly thrown together.

+1 for the Athletics Department (don't let it go to your head). Hope to see you all out there tomorrow! :04-cheers:

  3. Anyone know if and where the RVs can park on campus for the spring game? Also, can the RVs park there tonight and camp out?? So hyped for this Spring Game!!! GOING TO CELEBRATE THE USF VICTORY UNTIL THE SUNDAY MORNING HOURS!!! FIVE STAR PIZZA DELIVERY AROUND 4AM!!!!! GO BULLS!!!! HORNS UP!!!!!! \m/!!!!!!!!!

I like where this is going...

  4.

And Iraq was a slam dunk. Sometimes we get fooled, even our govt. Glad usf caught it in time. Judy should still be held accountable for the state of our programs though and I feel one little slip and she could go too.

Enough! Why? What has Judy Genshaft done to you? Is all you freaking care about USF athletics?

She successfully led a six hundred MILLION dollar drive for the USF endowment fund and then revised the target to a BILLION!! Under her watch we're a top thirty research university and a Tier one Carnegie! We have the first Medical simulation center in the COUNTRY at the CAMELS over in downtown! Engineering is up! The big donor medical fields are up!

All the while, in a university with an annual budget of nearly 2B dollars, you insist on blaming her for the operations of a $40M dollar department! What is she supposed to do? Should she have overriden Woolard when he hired Holtz and Taggart? Should she have overridden him when he hired Heath? No! That's Woolard's job, not Judy Genshaft's! Perhaps she could have fired him sooner, but that's it. What else could she have done? Judy Genshaft has a lot of important responsibilities on her plate. She can't just pick up the phone and be out there recruiting new head coaches for football and basketball. She has a lot bigger things to worry about, like improving the six year graduation rate, hitting fundraising goals, etc.

Some people just don't get it.

    /thread

     ^ this. Well said.

  5. USF basically had it's hands tied on this. I think they really wanted him just like we all did, but once you are presented with information like this, you HAVE to cut ties. Because if you don't, you are looking at a PR nightmare down the road when it comes out that you KNOWINGLY hired a couch you knew didn't graduated and lied on his resume.

  6.

The city of Louisville is actually about twice the size of the city of Tampa.  So, anyone in shock that Louisville has a nightlife is just ignorant.

Of course metro Tampa is about 3 times the size of metro Louisville, but metro Tampa is 2,500 square miles.  There's a lot more going on outside of Tampa than outside Louisville, but Louisville certainly holds it's own.

Downtown Tampa might have the single worst nightlife of any metro area in the top 50 in the country.

It hasn't picked up with all the residential going in down there now?

Nope. Seminole Heights has seen 10x the nightlife growth in the past 5 years.

It's kind of hard for Downtown to establish a nightlife because you have Ybor nightlife to the east about 1.5 miles away and the all the South Howard bars to the west about 1.5 miles away. There is nightlife, just not directly downtown.

  7. We all seemed to give our search committee a vote of confidence based on their qualifications.  I'd like to trust that Jeff Vinik et. al. knew, from the inside, what our department needed and got the candidate that would best fill those needs.

I'm going to do what I can to support Mr. Harlan so that he is successful.

    ^This

I agree 100%. Innocent until proven guilty in my book.

  8. We lost for two reasons:

    1) Some UCF fans were running an illegal script which had us way ahead of UTPA for most of the week. Since we appeared to be safely in the lead, nobody was casting legitimate votes. Then when the illegal votes were thrown out, we were suddenly losing to UTPA in the final day of that round of voting.

    2) BYU had the opposite happen. They appeared to be in a tight race with NDSU for most of the week, but it turned out most of NDSU's votes were illegal, so the morning of the final day of voting BYU jumped up to a 50% lead on NDSU. When this happened, they turned to voting for UTPA in order to knock UCF out of the contest.

I'm sure most of you don't really care, but since there was a thread on this topic I thought I would share what happened. BYU is taking this thing really seriously so they're probably going win by a large margin.

Any links or sources to prove this? Sounds like a lot of conjecture...

  9. I don't mind them, I think everyone said the same thing about seattle's when they first came out, now people seem to like them . I'm wondering if it is just the 2s that look digital. The names and the other numbers might look different. I will wait to reserve real judgement till I see them in real light and all angles.

  10. I have optimism if for nothing else, looking at what is coming from the S&C coach. Makes me wonder how we ever competed under Holtz, if they had to teach how to properly lift when they started workouts last year. I think the spring game will give a basic idea of where we have gotten to.

To that point, I know I'm going to listen very carefully to what CWT says during pre-season. Last year he said on multiple occasions that "we have to get bigger and stronger", and he was right. If he is saying the same thing again this year, it could be a very long season.
