In other words, the line should do quite a few favors for a linebacking corps that does have to replace two starters but returns key backups and does get DeDe Lattimore back for a 17th year in St. Petersburg.

Is it just me or does that sentence make no sense? If I'm reading it right, there's only one explanation...

[Happy Hour] DeDe Lattimore back for a 17th year in St. Petersburg. [/Happy Hour]

  2. Love to see it happen, and I'm not saying it won't, but an owl is a little bit different from a bull.

That being said, unless they train it to do something War Eagle-ish, I'd imagine having a live owl at the games is only slightly more entertaining than if UC Santa-Cruz would start featuring a live banana slug courtside.

Still, not quite as unfortunate as poor SCC's football team...

  3. Listening to cwt speak yesterday, I left feeling the best players will play.

I wonder if any coach, anywhere, has ever indicated something different ...

If I'm not mistaken, I think there were armchair rumblings on this board and/or amongst general fans during both the HCJL and HCSH eras that our coaches were too loyal to one player or another (particularly seniors) especially after a poor performance.

No particular link or scenario i can recall, but i seem to remember things like people calling to bench Grothe in favor of BJ Daniels or to use Darrell Scott more.

Whether favoritism existed or not, I won't even venture to guess nor do i wish to open that can of worms to discussion.

Regardless, if by "the best players will play," you mean this coaching staff is the best we've had so far to evaluate talent and put players in the right place to succeed both as individuals and a team, i cautiously agree.

No particular reason, just a feeling. Though it could just as easily be me getting sucked up into more "Beat Florida! That's why I'm here!"-type hype.

  4. Just read a new article today where Litton was talking about recruiting for USF. WTF???? I swear some of these kids don't have a shred of integrity

    ...

    Juice@CL14_

I want to apologize to USF but I will be decommitting and opening my recruitment up for my senior year.

QB's don't wait thru Sr year to commit cause usually all the spots r gone,

So he commits grand theft and quits on his teammates and that's totally ok with you, but decommits from us and NOW his character is in question?
No wonder Rutgers is recruiting him so hard. He sounds perfect for them.
  5. Joe schad and Bo weekley said strong had turned him down yesterday

I hadn't seen anything about yesterday. Most recent I saw about Louisville was Schad's July 13th tweet:

"TCU, Louisville had contact but then backed away from Michael Dyer. Hoping for a new school within 10 days."

Anybody got anything more recent with Louisville?

  6. What does that say when the insiders start leaving?

That being an AD at Southern Miss pays better than being an assistant AD at USF.

Seriously, though. I think the whole point of being an assistant AD is to eventually become athletic director. It probably wasn't going to happen for him at USF. I don't see Woolard leaving willingly any time in the near future, and if something were to happen where we would need to fire the athletic director, I'd think they'd probably want to get rid of him too and start fresh.

Not to mention the year that they stomped on our logo and damaged the Bucs locker room after beating us...that program is absolutely classless.

Lol, what irony in having their former coach with the Bucs.

Should have made him cut/paint the field and clean the locker rooms and bathrooms before allowing him to sign his contract. "Everything you're telling us sounds good, coach. But we need you to show us how much you love the Buccaneer organization."

  8. Not an exciting schedule, to be sure, but apples to oranges.

Warner: Private, Christian, Lake Wales, 1100 Students.

USF: Public, State, Tampa, 40000+ students.

They didn't have a pro football hall of famer pushing their program. They didn't state (to my knowledge), that their aim is to compete in the highest level of football. I'm sure they're content playing safe, family friendly, by the book, sportsmanlike football. Or, as we now know it, Skippyball.

With that said, they do have six D1 schools on their inaugural schedule. While they're not playing top-level FCS teams, does it really matter? Would we have won a National Championship already if only we had beaten The Citadel in '97? The outcome of Mercer vs. Southern Virginia will mean just as much.

If we started out with their schedule, we'd probably be close to the same place. But like I said before, different expectations. We wouldn't have built a schedule like that because we wanted some exposure to some of the better teams at our level of football.

Should have an announcement from Tampa Bay Tech corner Tajee Fullwood in just a minute. House packed w/ proud relatives, friends, teammates.

The collective hands of TBP members are poised above the keyboard, ready to flood the forums with either "Taggart really pulled in a solid player" or "Fullwood wasn't that good in the first place." :D

  10. How do kids get into Oregon and Arizona - both major PAC brain-train schools - after having been refused entranxce by USF???

Kids, one of these is not like the others, and it ain't because we're academically better. :wtf:

If what you mean by "both major PAC brain-train schools" is that Oregon or Arizona are in the top half of the PAC-12 academically, I'll have to disagree with you. However, saying that both are currently better than USF, I don't think I can argue against that.

  11. http://college-football.si.com/2013/06/17/david-cornwell-alabama-waterfall/?sct=obnetwork

    Cecil Hurt @CecilHurt

That's right. A waterfall. RT @DavidCornwell5: That waterfall in Bama's locker room is about to be legit! C'mon who has a waterfall. No one!

I say put a salt water aquarium in the Bulls dressing room. Fill it with sharks. Mote has an aquarium at the SRQ airport. Even the ER I worked at in GA has a salt water aquarium. Waterfalls are for sissies. Imagine the reaction to recruits of sharks in the locker room.

I think the intention of the waterfall is to go with the 'Roll Tide' theme so it's not a bad idea. IMO a saltwater aquarium doesn't tie in well with USF athletics since we're not Rays or Marlins or Sharks. Sure it's a Tampa thing and a Florida thing but it's no more USF than Flamingos are (shudder).

  12. I'm simply saying that the head coach chasing every available transfer should hurt Floyd's feelings more than a college girl, who once interned at some unknown level in the Athletics Dept. in the past, making a joke about his fumbles. Just because someone once worked for the Jets doesn't mean they can't ever call Sanchez "buttfumble" on their Twitter account.

Oh, well. If he can't take hurt feelings then he shouldn't play college football. The things that are said and done to a quarterback on any given Saturday are much worse than some blonde twit making a snide comment on twitter. As far as Coach T pursuing transfers, he's gonna have to learn to live with that. Job one for Taggart is win. If he doesn't have the pieces he needs to win, it's his responsibility to go out and find them, feelings be damned. Coddling and worrying about hurt feelings is for Holtzs. No player is more important than the rest of his team. Floyd is just going to have to do what he came to USF to do: compete. If he can win out against Bench, then he'll play.
