  1. The sad part about it was the BE officiating crew. Worst ever.

Always said that the bookies/Jersey mob handled the officiating that game.  Still one of the worst calls in our history.  Not only did they take away the ball, but hit us with a penalty based on the review..... Many other questionable calls.  And if I remember right,  Rice was shut down by us every game after this.

  2. Trip, recently interacted with Delta airlines twitter account to resolve a flight delay issue. Quickly directed me to the proper department when their Web page was no help. It's going beyond voyeurism.

Yes, and how is Twitter working for US Airways?  Black Milk?  to name two.  If you could go to twitter, they could have had online reps on their site to help, where it is more controlled.

As head coach first thing I would do is ban the use of Twitter.... When have you EVER seen a person get rewarded for something they tweet?

Yeah and they should ban those darn newfangled tellyphones, too. No good ever came from a tellyphone call.oldfartconvention.jpg

Yeah, you can call it old fart... or experience.  Imagine how much easier Philbin's life would be in Miami if he had this rule?  Honestly, I understand the dissemination of information.  But you never will see a reporter on ESPN stating  "now, look at this tweet from Musclehead Schultz, now he drives it home with intelligence and flare and has set the world on a new course of understanding and enlightenment".   No, but tweet "disgusting" at the wrong time and see what happens.  What does a team gain by allowing it?  what do the gain by banning it?  Point Old guys...

perhaps you can translate for the literate.  The fact that every major  news org(incl ESPN) follows and gets real breaking news from Twittah, even Trip follows it(his dirty little secret). And ban Twitter, it would be like banning the rain. It's annoying sometimes, necessary for sure but  will land somewhere if you build a roof(ban it).

Yes, and what is the news when dealing with players, coaches, and tweets? what they say, what they screw up.  Problem is you see this as a first amendment issue which it is not.  You state "you play here no twitter accounts" don't like, too bad.  The team PR should be controlled, a coach, a kid, should not be making statements for the team.  It always is a negative.  To me it is easier at the pro level, and I understand reality.  This started as a "if I were King" issue.  However, I think it should be something the coach should be able to control.

This is the laziness of news sources today, and has burned them as well.  If it was not for Twitter the debacle of Masiello would have been avoided since the school had not put an official release out, but it got tweeted out first, everyone picked up on it.  There is a lack of fact checking when reporters rely on this information.

  4. I've always thought it would be pretty awesome to hear the HOT play an upbeat version of "The Old Folks at Home" or sometimes called "Suwannee River" (the state song of Florida) during our games. I don't think any other program in our state uses it and it would bring great state pride during games.

Just a thought but would love to hear what people think.

Not that I am a proponent of this point, but many have raised this as a racist song and would not be welcomed.  I like the spirit, but this would be on par with bringing in the tomahawk chop and an indian with a spear, oh nevermind...

Bucs looking at CB Mike Jenkins

Back in 2008, a lot of Tampa Bay fans wanted the Buccaneers to draft cornerback Mike Jenkins.

He was a local product, coming out of nearby Bradenton and playing at the University of South Florida. The Bucs had a need at cornerback that year.

But the team of coach Jon Gruden and GM Bruce Allen had their eyes on another cornerback and used their first-round draft pick on Aqib Talib. Jenkins wound up getting drafted by Dallas.

Now, there is again the possibility that Jenkins could join the Buccaneers. He’s making a free-agent visit to the team Monday. Tampa Bay has Alterraun Verner andJohnthan Banks, but could use a strong third corner.

Jenkins, who spent five years in Dallas before going to Oakland last season, hasn’t had the kind of career many expected. But Jenkins could be a nice role player as the third cornerback in Tampa Bay.

Actually, Allen and Gruden called Jenkins told him that if he was still available he would be a Buc. Their pick came up, he was waiting by the phone and the ****heads called Talib. Jenkins went to Dallas, went to Pro-Bowl, and Talib went to lock up. If I were Mike I would find another team then tell the Bucs, "just kidding". though it is a small one year deal, $1.5M. so being home would be nice to end out a career.

  7. I was at USF then, back when the student section was the lower tier of seats and they called it the "Rose Bowl".  the conference made the school leave the first 2-3 rows behind the visiting bench unused, we called it death row.  This was because the students used to ride the visiting bench so bad they would make players cry, seriously.  The Dome was different, you were elevated over the benches then.  We put up tombstones there for each win.

Even then we had only so-so student attendance,  but better than today.  First and foremost you HAVE to get the students involved.  You look at every big time program on TV and the students pack the arena.  Without that you cannot have energy in the program.  There is no reason for us to not have that.  We have shifted quite a bit from the commuter days, and the students needs to come over, hell it is free.

We need to step up and get a name, someone that ESPN will talk about for a couple days, follow progress, want to see what he can do with the team, etc.

Side question, does Heath leave with his dad or man up and stay?

  8. Is anyone else just laughing out loud in their living room like me???

No, I am puking.  just like the team.  I swear, Judy should call Heath and tell him not to get on the plane, he is fired.  She could coach better.  I think he has taken a Zen approach to the season, just sit in a circle and think about what it is like to play.

  9.

FIRE STAN HEATH NOW!!!!!!! Don't let him fly back to Tampa, Fire him NOW.

College coaches are rarely fired mid-season. How many former coaches do you want on the payroll?

Fired for cause, impersonating a basketball coach.... How long do you want to be embarrassed by this ****** play?  Fire him, revoke about half these scholarships...

And replace him with who? A Stan disciple? You aren't going to hire someone outside mid-year and the school won't commit to a new basketball coach until a new AD is hired.

I get that you want him fired, but use your head.

Fire Stan let Wells coach the remainder of the season.

Start the search now for new head coach( be the first to start looking)  make the hire when the season ends. And coaches start looking and become avail.

Terrible idea. Let's start the search for a new MBB coach without letting the incoming AD weigh in on it? Any prospective AD would look at the administration and run away as fast as possible.

So wait until after JULY 2015?  Makes sense....

They are not waiting for DW's contract to expire before the hire a replacement. I would expect a new AD in place no later than the summer.

You can expect that, but it will be 2015 before they hire someone.  There is no transition needed here.  They will take a long time.  Woolard's announcement now was nothing more than to placate us fans into believing there is change on the horizon.  Hell, we will average 12,000 in the Ray Jay next year, and maybe 2,000 in the Sundome (of home fans).

I am using my head.  Perhaps it will be a wake up call to all the dead weight putting on our uniform twice a week and not giving a ****.  Go with Marsh, hell, let Howard coach.  Point is, HEATH changes NOTHING.  He runs the same defense, NO offense.  Allows his players to play weak, no energy ball game after game.  He sits on "collins is hurt".. Hell let COLLINS coach, he is better at on court strategy than anyone Heath listens to.

I understand that there is no good coach sitting waiting, but you have to shake this up, or just like football there will be no program to attract a topline coach.  We are regressing on all our major sports and this will go down the toilet into obscurity and we will be the laughing stock of the AAC.

What exactly do you hope to gain by firing Heath? Will this team make the NCAA let alone the NIT with anyone else coaching? Focus on hiring a new AD and let someone QUALIFIED make those decisions.

You realize Woolard does not retire until July 2015 right?  so waiting on a new AD, what AD will you get with a cellar MBB and Football program, neither of which plays in a post season tournament in two or more years.  Here, your first task is to fire the basketball coach.  What I want is to be able to have pride in the teams that represent my school.  I want to go watch a game that I paid my hard earned money for and feel that half that effort I put into making the money to buy the tickets is being expended by a coach that is making millions to sit there, smile and shake his ******* head.
