First we would have to change the culture which would allow the coach and the school to have control and discipline on players.  We routinely shun that here.   Another thread here talking about how css should allow guys to blaze up, sure that is not an issue at West point.  

Next the players would need a different attitude. This year the team was not together as a team by mid season. Instead of tightening the bond it seemed we were not connected as a team.  

Just look to Tallahassee FSU from national champs to nothing.

Mack better start off with a 250+ yard game against FAMU to get out of the gate towards 1,000.  I hope, but would be a little surprised to see him get 100+ each game.  To do that we need to have a decent passing game that can open up the middle.  If we cannot hit receivers the defense will just pound the line and block up the run, just like last year.  Even in the Grothe era we saw this, he was not a pocket passer, but he could get the ball down field when they released the receivers to stop his scramble. 

What about the Hooters discount card? It looks like a one time discount this year since there's no expiration date on it.

Ranking factors. The remaining colleges were ranked on 21 factors in three equally weighted categories: educational quality, affordability, and alumni earnings from PayScale.com.

• Special value measure. Included: a "value added" grade that considered how well students at each school did vs. what would be expected given their economic and academic backgrounds and the institution's mix of majors.
• Focus on affordability. Among the factors considered: merit aid, parent and student borrowing, the length of time to graduate, tuition increases, and other measures.

So basically any school who's Alumni stay/live in an area with low CoL is already hurt due to the PayScale criteria.

We are lower than other Florida schools due to Graduation rates (the length of time to graduate,) which USF has now set as a top target.

Exactly, so many of these factors go against USF, UCF is ranking above because of the number of students that are on campus per se, not commuters as we are.  They tend to complete quicker and have a better completion rate.  However, we make more as alumni then they do generally.  It is a crap review, does not take into account the community connections, our patents, leading medical programs, etc.

I posted in another thread that Harlan said they are consistently looking at the option of an OCS, but when they build it, it will be, I believe he used the word, "spectacular"

 

From the annals of USF history, every AD since Jesus has said we are looking at an OCS, even before we had football there was talk of a stadium... lol

 

 

The only thing that would surprise me is if Breezy isn't coming back. 

the defense was pitiful this year. I miss the days of Wally where they played aggressive, attacking style football. not sit on your heels and let them take it to us.

 

 

If we had any semblance of offense, we would have won several more games this year.  Defense is the least of our worries right now.  They kept us in a few games that we lost. 

 

Being the least of our worries does not mean it was not a problem.  We still cannot tackle for crap.  A flag football team tackles better than we do.  Out turnover percentage fell apart at the end of the season as well.  We need to learn to blitz...

True, it is a diversion from all the "we suck" talk... which we do, but talking about uniforms helps.  Of course, I like changing it up, that way it won't look like us in the UCF highlight reel.

I'd like to see Tampa get behind the game. The multicolor lights downtown on the river should be turned to green and gold. Bay News 9 could wear USF gear and at least hint to it. Or do we have to be ranked first?

Bay News Nine has nothing to do with USF anymore.  They did not renew their contract 4 years ago and do not show any AAC games in any sport.  

All I think of is Fast Times and Spicoli and the kid in the trans am.  "dude, brother is going to kill us if you screw up his ride".....

And just because you are the official station doesn't mean you have to talk about us all the time. Where in the show's contracts does it say they have to talk about USF because they are the official station? All it means is that the station broadcasts our games.

Really?  did I say all they have to talk about?  and this was BOTH ways.  USF made, by all accounts this week, a major story and broke it on a competitor station.  uncool on our part.  

Dingman was nonrenewed for reasons unknown. The Kirk and Kage show isn't very good. There just doesn't seem to be any chemistry between the two. The afternoon show with booger and Ryan is basically a SEC circle jerk.

Dinger was great, and Kage just feels like a shock jock with a collar on waiting to bust out into some junior high antics.  He is bringing the worst out of Kirk.  Sports babe sucks, I swear she comes on and says "screw them, they want me on weekends, well, I will just talk and not really do any prep".  Jim is great, and Justin rocks.  enough said, getting off my own point.

Well, were it not for 98.7 FM ... what would the "official radio station" of USF be?

It's not like there's head to head competition for FM sports radio in this neighborhood.

 

And let's be honest. It's football season. That's what we talk about in fall. Maybe - just maybe - if you're interested in soccer you could fill a few minutes touting the success  of USF's team, but it'd be pretty hard to work up any substantive dialogue that fills air time. Think you'd get any callers wanting to elaborate on soccer? Golf? Women's basketball? 

 

As soon as USF puts a product on the field that warrants something other than criticism or ridicule, then maybe USF gets some traction. Until then, that old adage of "if you can't say something nice..." has merit. 

Dude, they talk about Pro wrestling every morning.  I believe somewhere in the mix they could give the **** USF soccer scores.  I mean, both of our teams were playing for the AAC finals.  I am not asking for this to be WBUL, but if you go to G'ville they will be chatting up the **** gymnastics teams and all.  Just a little love for the successes we have would help with the heartache football and basketball gives us.

Did I say it was the problem?  My point is beyond that, the point is the coach should be announcing this on the radio station that is THE VOICE OF USF.  I mean, this is just logical.  It would be like USF advertising Nike in the Sundome....

I am curious, does the USF athletic dept. and the on air personalities on 98.7 The Fan, know there is a contract that made 98.7 The home of USF sports?  

I mean, Booger McFarlane, Mr. SEC, takes every shot he can at our school.  Jessie Cage forgot that USF plays football in Tampa, and on and on.  

Coach T makes it no better when he announces Flowers will start on WDAE, and not his coaches show on 98.7!

No mention of the success of the soccer teams, etc.  

Seriously, this is as disfunctional as the rest of the program right now.

The Preds will have plenty more games this year.  Go to the USF game.... Fall weather, great crowd... 

Besides, I believe that this win is the power of the horns.  For years I had a set of Bull horns on my Pathfinder and we won.  At the 2011 Cincy game (homecoming no less) someone tried to take them and broke one horn off and kept it.  We have never been to a bowl after that, and well, we know how we have played.  I got a new set of horns and they went on the new truck permanently this past week.....

I would like to come up with a different name on the towel, since the "Terrible Towel", is copyrighted. Then tell me who to get this idea too so we could possibly get this done! What a site that would be to see a stand of nothing but gold towels waving. Any and all suggestions would be great.

I say we wait for the Rays to move into their new stadium, then take over the Trop, be a domed stadium, reconfigure for football, call us the USFSP Bulls, and bah bam.. St. Pete campus has sports, Tampa has sports, all we need is to relocate the volleyball team up to Lakeland, and everyone has sports, we have an OCS.. oh, crap, the Trop isn't on the St. Pete campus, nevermind.
