  1. You know...the more I hear, the more I have to lean on the side of the HHS coach.  But honestly, what's done is done.  That's how Taggart did it and we're better; HOWEVER, imagine IF Taggart would have catered to old school coaches in the direct AREA and COUNTY around USF?  Making them, their team and parents FANS of the local college program and the great man that was leading it.  Maaaaaybe more butts in seats?  More local interest in the local college product?

I dunno...networking is key in life.  Period.  So I LOVE everything I hear about CCS.  It's a GOOD TIME to be a USF BULL!!!

The Pope is the Pope... they will remember playing at the Vatican on New Years Day more than a non-essential bowl game versus a 6-6 USCe team. Granted, I'm Catholic... but it's the Pope. He's more famous than Mr. awesome himself, President Donald Trump. That's all you need to say.

Ummmmm...Uab played for the pope too.  Soooooo...ya.

Southern Cal's marching band travels to every away game.  Th pope watches movies and music videos they're on.

These are the types of experiences our band should have.  Travel to away games and show up EN MASSE to a bowl game vs an SEC team.  My $0.02

Playing for "the pope" is cool...I'm catholic too.  But...cmon man.

And if they had still gone to see the Pope, you may have more agreeing with you ... Perennial NY6 programs probably don't schedule something like this with their bands ... You're making a mountain of a molehill in regards to this program.

While I do agree with you over the mountain/molehill, being in this with the likes of marshall? and UAb?

    Not too prestigious...

Meh, cry me a river.  Like you wouldn't have been interested in traveling to Rome to rep USF.  Glad our Athletic Department isn't as selfish.

Traveling to Rome can be done with the purchase of a plane ticket for a few hundred bucks man.  It aint that deep.

These kids had to PAY for this trip.  Not like they couldn't do it on their own.

We wanna be a REAL school who cares about football and brings our A-game to away trips in the country?  Or we wanna be half assing it?

Never liked the idea of the band ditching the football team like that at the bowl game.   Marching band is for football entertainment.

And this is coming from a former band member.

    Couldn't agree more.

They cleared it with the team ... and the band was represented quite well at B'ham .... besides, you can't be dissin' the Pope.

While they did "clear it with the team"

It was "cleared" over a year ago.  There was no telling, if/when they were planning or booking the trip, the team would've been in bowl contention at all.

I'm just glad(not really) we didn't get a NY6 bowl and showed up with half a band.  :/ It was bad enough having the skeleton crew in bham...but also represented abroad at half strength.

I drove up with other band alumni and was very excited to see this years FULL SIZE HOT Band.  But no...they're in Rome with marshall(?) and uab(?!) .

Save that money and recruit with your FULL band at major competitive marching band events in the Miami and Ft Lauderdale area perhaps.  And while you're at it, send a small pep band to one FAR away game(temple woulda been good this year), to hype up the hundreds of bulls fans who show up from NYC/Philly/DC alumni associations.

There are better uses of money.  My only argument.

Former band member, and long time HOT supporter and enthusiast.

  6. Heres the trick gents...wait till a month before, book on a tuesday and you should find a flight around 250-350 to SFO or maybe even SJC from Tampa, round trip.  I'll probably try and make it as I'll be living in New Mexico at the time and I have a free place to stay in San Jose. :)

Alrighty then, I'll try and see if I can get down for one of the Costa Mesa dates.

And how is it that - if you're expendable for LA - that they don't just do without ya altogether? Eh? Eh?

    LOL

Expendable?  Lol nah.  They got one of the best guys on the planet subbing for the show in LA.  He's like...been the trumpet player on most of the movies we've watched in the last, you know...30 years. lol
