IIRC Golesh came in last year and said something like it was a sin to have that many db’s. I think it was 17? We’re now at 22? Not complaining, just asking.
Agree with others that he was talking about safeties and that we only had like 2 CBs.

Too much bitterness on this board. I'm grateful for Taggart's time here in the PAST and ready for a few more quality transfers for the 2024 season. I'm hopeing they rrach put to Gentle Hunt from FAMU.
No bitterness. Create another thread to talk about Taggart. We just inked two SEC CB transfers. Seems like something to talk about in the...*checks notes*...transfers thread.

Second SEC CB transfer of the day.

This thread is like the Realignment thread. All kinds of terrific transfers incoming and this thread is a discussion of the Taggart offense.

Better than all of them except UCF.
We do have to keep in mind that recruiting rankings are not all they are cracked up to be. We had a couple of guys drop from 4* to 3* after they committed to us. A recruit gets points for being recruited by and committing to P5 schools over G5 schools, and big schools like Alabama instead of less big schools like Cincy. So it is really hard to say whether UCF had a better class. Though they probably did, it probably isn't nearly as big a gap as the recruiting pundits have us ranked.

It really does feel great to be average, odd as that sounds. I suppose because there is hope where there wasn't any for a good while. It really is exciting to see all these steps forward, even if we are not yet where we want to be.

My (limited) understanding is that Hill is expected to play LB.

Signing Day
GOUSFBULLS.COM
Wednesday, December 20: Signing Day for University of South Florida Bulls FootballI have not followed closely this year, but that seems to be a terrific list including some of the bigger names.
Side note, the Gramatica name alone feels we are back on track.

The depth chart that Syracuse released Monday listed redshirt freshman Braden Davis as the expected starter for the bowl game against South Florida. Davis completed his lone pass attempt in the regular season.
100% pass completion percentage on the season. Sounds like a beast!

Never made sense for the league (FBS) with over 100 teams to have less playoff spots than the NFL. Even less sense that playoffs didn’t previously exist at all.
Made plenty of sense. ADs and Presidents got to take all kinds of free trips sponsored by bowl committees, and they were afraid bowl games would go away with a playoff. President gets no $$$ from a playoff. ADs might now that the money is getting so big. So it was a perk they got for free. Why bite the hands that feed you?

Did not see this coming.

Disclaimer: Have been Bulls Club football donor since 1995 (they were taking donations two years before football games actually started) and only want the best for USF.
UCF - 2007 - $73.9 Million 45K Seating
FAU - 2010 - $70 Million 30K Seating
USF - 2027 - $300 Million 35K Seating (assuming $40 million is being used for the TGH center for athletic excellence)
Only difference in the design and look between these (+FIU) that I can tell from our renderings, is that we are going to have some green and heard we may put a thin layer of concrete on the stands like FSU has done.
The thought all these years was that it would be best to do it right or don't do it at all and not put the same erector set steel beam structure that every high school stadium (along with FIU, FAU and UCF) in Florida has done for the last 30 years.
Why was "no erector set steel support structure" not the first design rule given to Populous? (translation: no bounce house)
Exhibit A (FAU Stadium)
You will notice that our rendering shows the same type of steel support beams going down into the middle of those buildings.
It is a horrible look for the $70 million that it costs FAU 13 years ago but it is inconceivable that we are doing the same for $300 million!
Exhibit B: (UCF Stadium - "Bounce House")
Renderings revealed on Tuesday show the same design (steel beam support structure)
Expect to have similar corrosion issues over time.
From the renderings shown:
Both North (blimp view) and South (practice field view) stands show steel support structure.
Fact 1: This is a bounce house and will feel unstable just like UCFs.
Fact 2: This will have corrosion problems just like UCFs 10 years down the road.
Fact 3: Reluctance of donors/corporations to give as much as they could when they see the renderings of something that should cost no more than $150-200 million actually cost $300 million.
Fact 4: Renderings show a stadium (even if you tripled the cost of FAU and UCF for inflation) that should not cost more than $200 million. Was the design to bury a $100 million worth of gold at midfield to come up with the $300 million total.
I have been in FIU, FAU and UCF stadiums enough times to know that we don't want that same thing.
Those of us going to the Boca Bowl in two weeks should take note walking into and under that Stadium of what we are going to get three years from now at four times the cost. Only hope is that our USF folks approving the stadium design come up with the same conclusion: "300 million for this, get populous on the phone".
Is this why contractor was fired?
Were the renderings correct?...pretty sure graphic designer would not replace concrete structure with steel support just to get drawings out.
Mike Weatherford said we don't want a Bounce House, we want something better.........well the renderings show a Bounce House, plain and simple.......very disappointing.....correct it before it is too late or we will have to keep putting lipstick on the pig for twenty years like UCF is doing now.
If you think the two stadiums are the same, no one can help you.

70% of construction projects miss initial deadlines. It was never going to be 2026.

Playing in the minor-leagues always helps. Records are great but sometimes the environments are different.
USF football has spent most of its history jn non-power conferences. So I am not sure.your point.

In his defense we have beaten SC State and UNI and got beat soundly by Maine and Central Michigan. The team is lackluster at best, not hating, simply stating this team sucks at the present moment. I hope this will change but no reason to believe it will no matter how much poncho plugs this talentless bunch of misfits.
Yes, but he has said the same about every USF team daily for the last 20 or so years. Even a broken clock, and all that.

We hired the wrong coach. This was to be expected. When we get to conference play it will be even worse. ASUN talent in the AAC.
In 3 years we will be looking for another coach
The day you post something positive I will pass out.

Golesh gets an A+ for this season. In future seasons, who knows? But anyone giving him a lower grade is beyond parody and deserves Jeff Scott for eternity.

I'm all for adding on to 3500 pages, but how the heck did this realignment rumors topic turn to cheating by Michigan? They aren't going anywhere.
GO BULLS!
Go back a couple of thousand pages and you'll find topics far less related.

So catch me up. Do we join the ACC next year, or in 2025?

It will definitely be interesting to see if they sprinkle some in now and how they do, but I would have hoped if they were ready to really help the team they'd already have played ........ although maybe that's the "luxury" of being able to piece together 4 wins without burning eligibilities, I don't know.
I would imagine that at least a couple of guys not ready two months ago could be ready now. Would like to see maybe a young WR show some skills.
