  1. As it currently sits, it's the USF Baseball and Softball Complex, with the baseball field (I guess) named Red McEwen Field (although they never officially renamed it) and the softball field being nameless.

The name just seems a little cumbersome. What about renaming the whole complex the "USF Ball Grounds"?

So it would be "Red McEwen Field at the USF Ball Grounds" and "<insert name *cough*Eriksen*cough> Field at the USF Ball Grounds".

  2. Somebody in USF Public Relations needs to make it their mission to make this page rock

    This.

Our page has always lacked uniformity and accuracy.

Another issue is the use of "South Florida" on the athletics pages. UCF is always referred to as UCF, not Central Florida, why are we not always referred to as USF. Our athletic department has asked (although never demanded) that "South Florida" never be used.

  3. racists.....

I've never liked MLK plaza. It's nothing against MLK, who was a great man. I've always found it strange that the focal point landmark of our campus is about a man who never set foot on the campus or had anything to do with the university. It seems almost like a token gesture, like how nearly every city and town in the south has named a street after the man.

  6. USF hosts FGCU and FAMU in the Las Vegas Classic on Dec.17 and 19, respectively, rounding out its non-conference home games. The Las Vegas Classic continues on the road Dec. 22-23, as USF will face UNLV and Santa Clara. UNLV or Santa Clara, and the Bulls finish off 2013 at Bradley on Dec. 28.

Aside from the atrocious writing in this paragraph, I've confirmed this information to be wrong.

USF will be playing Mississippi State on December 22 as part of the Las Vegas Classic. That same day, UNLV will be playing Santa Clara. The winners will play each other and the losers will play each other on December 23. So there is a chance we will not play UNLV.

  7. I believe there might be a mistake regarding the Las Vegas Classic.

Typically how it works is that you have 4 power teams and 4 lesser teams. The 4 lesser teams play at 2 of the power teams. Then the 4 lesser teams will play each other in a bracket in Las Vegas, and the 4 power teams will do the same. Meaning if USF is playing UNLV in its opening game in Vegas, we would be playing either Santa Clara or Mississippi State the next day (depending on the results).

Sunday, Dec. 22 at UNLV/Santa Clara

Monday, Dec. 23 at UNLV/Santa Clara

    Saturday, Dec. 28 at Bradley

Plus what should be a home & away conference schedule against all the teams.

Aside from Oklahoma State, Alabama, and perhaps UNLV, I don't see this as being a terrible strong schedule. Luckily we still have Louisville, UConn, Cincinnati, and now Memphis for conference play. (Sorry, FGCU I think is a flash in the pan, especially with their coach gone).

  9. Outrunner seems to have a source in Kiefer's org or is the source...

    Thanks for the information Outrunner.

No. Its called google. I searched all the other teams schedules and pieced ours together. There's about 220 men's soccer programs and around 40 left that haven't announced their schedule.

  10. Last update. I think I've got most of it nailed down, minus probably a game between the 12th and 20th of September. Plus we'll also have an exhibition against Tampa and maybe one more exhibition match. Looks to be a fairly solid schedule.

I will update the more dates I find, but it looks like we will not be playing any ACC or Big East teams.

Since I just recently saw Bill McGillis' tweet, I'll throw this in:

    Bill McGillis â€@USFinsiderBillM3 Jul

Unreal physical development by @USFMBB's Zach LeDay. 215 lbs when signed with USF. Now a chiseled 240 at end of freshman year. BEAST.

I expect LeDay to step up and start to become a key player for us. Good to see that he bulked up since last year. He came on stronger towards the end of last season. Even though it was mainly because of other injuries, it was good playing time for him at least.

I'm curious to see how the incoming guys do like Egbunu, Perry and Bo Ziegler. We need a good big man and Egbunu could be that guy as long as grades don't stop him.

But what I really need to see from USF Basketball is a good game plan. Last year was hectic. We had two plays: Throw the alley oop or throw up a three. It was chaotic and injuries didn't help. Hope we can establish a better identity than that and have a better game plan.

Either way, I'm pretty excited for this year. We really need to have a good year to keep up recruiting though.

I think I saw Omo at the University Collection shopping center last week, and if it was him, he appeared to have lost a decent amount of weight.

That would be really good news, not just for basketball, but for his general health as well. I know he had a number of joint issues due to his weight.

And if my fading memory serves me correctly, I think his weight issue was a result of another health problem that, I think, may have bee corrected. What will also help him immensely is going up against big bodies in practice on a regular basis. Just hope Egbunu gets there in August so they can start banging against each other.

I think you're right. I seem to recall hearing his size came from an overactive thyroid and I think he had surgery on it, but I'm not 100% sure about all this.

Regardless of his basketball abilities, he has a heart of gold and its good to hear his health is improving.

Where's that logo on the bathing suite? --I keep looking but can't find it.

[by the way, Bulliever, if you lose another advertiser, don't blame us!] ;)

Google searched for bad words....  I think we'll be okay (if we get a new advertiser), who knows.

    Wisconsin-Green Bay

Dang.  That was too easy I guess.

Nah, I'm just a fan of logos and mascots. I think most would not get it.
