  1. Worst case: conference deal rumor is true, but we still have the fresh start. we are back to the early USF days and just have to get to work.

If just throwing out there things that have no chance of happening is valid, then the worst case scenario is that the moon suddenly gets pulled to the earth, lands right on Tampa and destroys the university. It's only slightly less plausible.

The point is not why the NCAA is coming, it's that they ARE coming. Once on campus they can look into whatever they'd like, they aren't just limited to the Bball case. If we have any cracks in the foundation, I hope they kept DW around to seal them up.

Please. This is just fear-mongering nonsense. There's no reason to believe USF is any more likely than any other school to have the kind of skeletons in the closet that you are pretending to be so afraid of.

  2.

I am so glad it doesn't have to do with point shaving. Like most, I had guessed that it was basketball related, and I can't get the image of our players half assing it out there out of my head. For a second, I thought they were dirty.

I'm glad that they are just bad instead.

The rub is, if Drew was as good at outside shooting as his father eluded to, we really needed that this year with this team.  Disappointing that he didn't make it onto the team but my guess is that it wasn't up to Heath and that it was the ARB that pulled the plug on him.  That ARB has caused us way too many problems with recruits who end up going to places like Louisville and Oregon and being very successful and solid student athletes.

Yeah, because if the guy's dad says he's amazing, he must be amazing.

  3. UCF beat Baylor... A big XII team.

I would not be shocked if UCF looks more attractive to the big XII. We have two wins and lose to an FCS school while UCF goes on to beat the big 12 champion and have a 1 loss season. UCF looks a lot more ready to compete and have an on campus stadium.

Wins and losses have nothing to do with it. Rutgers. Pitt. Syracuse. Boise State.

How many times does it have to be repeated?

And even if wins and losses had anything to do with it, why would UCF's two or three noteworthy wins in 35 years of playing football be enough to push them over the edge? Yeah, because the Big XII administrators are so clueless that they must assume games played within the past three weeks must represent the way things always were and always will be.

  4. The article was just updated with the following:

Note: USF Athletics responded to a previous version of this story with "We have no expectation of a Letter of Inquiry." That sentence of the story has been removed.

So now the story is LITERALLY just "bitter dad says unspecified, supposedly bad things about university that rejected his son."

Someone let me know when there's some real info out there.

  5. Pathetic on both parts. USF should have kept their hands clean

Shouldn't you wait until USF has actually been accused of something specific, and see what evidence there is to support the accusations, before you make this statement?

Right now, here's the whole story: Bitter father says bad things about university that didn't take his son.

From that, you get, "USF should have kept their hands clean" ... how, exactly?

  6. I don't want to be negative. I know nothing about this, but if the VD5 article is accurate, then we have a problem.

When the NCAA begins an "Official Investigation" they actually had been looking into things and feel reasonably sure there is something wrong.

The letter VD5 referenced is not the start but a mid point in things like this.

If the article is accurate about what? There is not one specific piece of info in that article, other than USF supposedly receiving a letter of inquiry "soon." Nothing at all to suggest what, if anything, is alleged, or how valid it is. Nothing at all.

A Google search for "NCAA letter of inquiry" turns up lots and lots of results from recent years - some wound up being major stuff, but most were pretty minor, nothing worth freaking out about. And several amounted to basically nothing.

There is still no reason to freak out at all, more info is needed to make a judgment.

Seriously though, nobody takes you seriously.

Well, maybe your mom? I doubt it though.

Wow an internet tough guy who works for the grammar police for a living.

Look, dude. I get why you're here - if I had the misfortune of being a UCF student or grad, I'd be desperate to find a source of intelligent or stimulating conversation as well. Sitting in freshman English classes and struggling over that tough third page of The Three Little Pigs must get repetitive after a while. But that doesn't mean anybody here is going to take your trolling seriously. Even someone who went to UCF must be able to understand what makes you so pathetic?

Just don't become butt hurt again like you were when UCF dominated your conference in the first year if the rumor is true. Maybe make-believe and fairy tales is how you cope with tragedy? Then you should go back and sit on your daddy's lap for another round of "story time".

OK, I take it back: I guess you, as a UCF grad, are in fact dumb enough to not see why you are pathetic.

  8. Surprisingly sound logic.

My only concern is with the nature of the package deal. It is as if UCF had to give some sort of permission for us to get in. I doubt the Big 12 is at the whim of UCF's preference on who gets in. I am sure them going to bat for us helps, but again I doubt it changes the fundamentals of why USF would be good as a package

Nothing the UCF moron said was true. Acting like it might be true only encourages more UCF morons.

UCF is not going to the Big XII. This should be obvious to everyone.

    An update and clairification....

You guys can believe me or not. I went to USF, graduated in 03 with a major in poli sci, lived in beta hall first year then Fontana. I love the bulls, have been to a ton of games since undergraduate and work at a small law firm in Tampa. I normally lurk, this is the first time I have info... And to be clear, I HATE UCif....

On to the news- talked to my buddy, here is some further background:

    - there are indeed NCAA infractions being looked into for MBB, but they are nothing major.

    - this put DW on the hot seat, but wasn't a fireable offense.

    - the Disney school is indeed in talks w b12 but nothing is final yet.

    - USF got wind because DW had an unofficial agreement with the Orlando School that we would be a package deal. The other day UCif called them and told them the deal was off, blaming it on the NCAA infractions.

    - when BOT found out about the broken agreement + infractions + b12, they had enough with DW.

    - this isn't out yet bc B12 and ucifers have kept it tightly under wraps. USF admin, now that they know, have no such obligation.

    - there is more out there, but my friend doesn't know yet....

No offense, but I dearly hope you and your friend are completely wrong.

He has no friends. If he did, he would have better things to do than come over here acting like a USF fan. It's hilariously pathetic, just like UCF in general.

  11. If UCF goes to the BIG 12 over USF it will be because they have earned it. No USF fans should be upset with UCF by trying to better their situation. UCF has improved. It was not that long ago when they were at the bottom. I give them credit for moving up.

Just like Rutgers "earned" its spot in the Big 10? And Pitt and Syracuse "earned" their spots in the ACC? Or like USF "earned" its spot in the Big East in the first place?

What, exactly, do you think UCF has done to "earn" a spot in the Big XII? Won three noteworthy games in their 35-year history of football? Please. Wins and losses have nothing to do with anything, but even if they did, UCF hasn't done ****. UCF isn't going to the Big XII. I wish people would stop this ******** - all it does is attract more flies as they come over here in search of validation for their sorry-ass school.

  12.

This didn't need it's own thread.

groupthink is unhealthy , moving posts takes it out of context. And it should be USif, a BCS Trophy is now added to the trophy case in East Orlando. A loud, somehow still arrogant dwindling fanbase over here that is in complete denial

It must be really depressing thinking so little of your own team that even after the biggest win its history (not saying much), you have to rush over to your big brothers and beg for validation. Obviously you know that a single win over a Baylor team that didn't show up doesn't make it not embarrassing to be a UCFer.

  13. And they call us UCiF? Speaking of that... I can laugh at the UCiF thing forever. There's no more "if" when beating 2 top 10 schools in one year and winning a BCS Conference title and winning a BCS Bowl happens. USF may be able to "if" that ever happens. There's no if with a trophy car full of trophies exists. There is an "if" when you have empty cases.

    ...?

We'll just chalk this up as further evidence that UCFers can't read. Your comment has nothing to do with anything that has been a part of this conversation. (Sorry, I know there are a few big words there. Get a dictio ... a book of words and what they mean and stuff.)

  14. Why? Most of your own are scared UCF going to the Big 12 is the reason for this and I pointed out reasons not to be worried.

"Most" are not worried - just a few vocal posters who are in a frenzy over the news of the AD being pushed out, and not thinking about the situation rationally. And that hysteria has calmed down anyway. Everybody knows your crappy school is stuck in this no-man's-land, minor league conference.

  15.

I don't think I have experience to be top ad but I would make a great #2

the pay cut wouldn't be so bad as I have enough passive income to more than make up for it

    woolard needed to go

I know a lot of you guys don't like smazza, but I love this guy. Almost every post he writes gets a little laugh out of me

I think everyone laughs at most of smazza's posts. The problem is, very few of them are meant to be funny.

I doubt it but I can see why the are favorable. UCF has won 10, 11 and 12 games in the past four seasons. They have good facilities and solid fan support. My brother is a high school coach in Georgia and says Tyler Harris is the real deal and with their WR's won't miss a beat.

As I said, doubt the big 12 wants them but they look much better than we do.

Yeah, UCF is suddenly attractive because of a quarterback recruit who hasn't even set foot on campus yet and because they won a bunch of games against sorry-ass competition (including this year's AAC). Right.

Youre being short sighted. They have won everywhere they have played, us, not so much. Make fun of their tin can stadium but other schools understand what that means to have. Also, say what you want but their President is viewed very favorably in athletic circles. More than anything, they had great tv ratings in Orlando this year, that is a powerful thing to show.

Winning and losing have nothing to do with anything. See: Rutgers, losers in the Big 10. See: Boise State, big winners, still on the outside looking in. Pitt haven't won **** lately, Syracuse ditto, both are now in the ACC.

And UCF's TV ratings were decent in the Orlando market specifically, but nationwide? Not so much. It's going to take more than a single season of a few games getting decent ratings to make them attractive.

UCF isn't going to the Big XII, and that's pretty much the end of it. Believe they are if you want, but time will prove you wrong.

I'm not saying UCF has gotten any invite or close to it for the big 12. But the TV ratings locally are the prime focus on evaluating a team and whether they can or can not bring a TV market. National TV is not a TV market. It's all about sets on that team in that market.

I agree, but UCF's local TV ratings were only remotely impressive for a small number of games for a single season. It's totally meaningless at this point.

I do disagree that nationwide ratings are meaningless though. Both are important, though local ratings are probably the more important of the two.

  17. My mom's dad's uncle's brother's great aunt told me something, but you'll have to find her and ask her, because I don't feel like telling everyone and ending up wrong and taking heat for it. But if i'm right i'll toot my own horn and tell everyone I told you so, even though I told you all nothing!  :stirpot:

Bingo. Hem wanted the ego-stroke of being able to claim he has inside info, but he doesn't actually want to share what he thinks it is. So instead he just started up a batch of ******** speculating, then whined about that same speculating.

How did you actually see this playing out, Hem? With people just saying, "oh, OK," and then forgetting about it for a week? Get real.

  18. Don't over think this.  Woolard got the hook because he was awful.  Under his stewardship, USF athletics regressed by all metrics.

    Teams got worse,

    Conference got worse,

    Revenues got worse,

    Fundraising got worse,

    Attendance got worse,

    Future prospects got worse.

In addition, Woolard was an ineffective administrator. . . . . nothing got done.

Sundome naming rights deal has been going on since 2007,

People left and were slow to get replaced (McGillis) or poorly replaced (Chris Freet)

Guys, Woolard was a disaster these last few years.  Why look for reasons, when the reasons are right in front of us.

    Excellent post.

It's Occam's razor - when dealing with the unknown, the explanation with the fewest assumptions is usually the best one.

  19.

Ghost of the past is also a ucf troll 95 percent of his posts have been about UCIF and Bortles. Got caught red handed son. Now move along back to Disney college.

Ah, that explains him being a total dumbass. My bad.
