  1. PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT!

Please people if you are going to take a video turn your phone horizontal! If the video is good everybody watching the video will be seeing it on a screen that is wider than tall for the best enlargement. The only time the phone should be vertical is for videos of a tornado up close, skyscrapers, basketball players or things such as the Jolly Green Giant. People watching the video do not care about the floor and ceiling (pavement and sky, etc.)

An added benefit is you don't have those weird out of focus sides to your video.

  2. Let's play the "What If" game!!!

Next week ECU plays Old Dominion which of course beat VaTech. If USF had lost to ECU then ECU lost to Old Dominion a lot teeth grinding would be going on (good for dentist's!) in the bay area.

As it is some of these huge upsets will make for interesting this team beat that team which lost to that team then lost to that team which was beat by the other team  so Old Dominion should be national champions!

Maybe O.D. can claim the National Championship and hold a parade at DisneyWorld. Where have I heard that before?

  3. I would like to add that it does not really matter what gate you enter the stadium since you can walk around the entire stadium to get to your section. In fact since you have not been there for quite a while  I would recommend a stroll all the way around the stadium to check things out.

When we went to Pitt a few years back that was the design flaw I noticed at Heinz Field which is sort of similar to Rayjay, you could not circle the inside of the stadium.

  4. My wife and another couple he gone to Manatee / Sarasota watch parties for years (both Selmon's, Gecko's, Evies and probably some I don't remember.

We are going to try BigTop for this game  however our friends go there occasionally and do not see it as a good watch party location.  First they only have just a few smaller TV's. The bar itself is smaller which on occasion we have had 40 people at Evies so it could be crowded with poor tv visibility (they do have a patio area outside next to I-75). Check out the interior pictures on Google Maps. I have been there a couple times and don't remember if there is a sound system for the tv's or not. This is also a typical brewery that is not a restaurant but as I understand should have food trucks. Related to not being a restaurant is a limited selection of soft drinks for those who don't drink or bring kids. They do have vey good beer. My thought is whoever selected this location thought that what a good place to hang out and this would make a good watch party location without thinking  through the logistics.

I hope it turns our to be a fantastic place for the watch party but  I am a bit concerned. Hope they have the Big10 Network. We will certainly try it this time and hope it works out

  5. I hear where your coming from but it goes back to if the AAC and USF want to be considered "Big Time" and "P6" they need to provide better access to their product. Relying on another conferences network or a source you may use for one week above and beyond a family's normal media sources (and payment) is not a great way to grow and showcase your product. Casual fans will not go out of their way to hunt the telecast.

The point isn't can you view the game, why is it difficult, expensive or takes a free trial to view a single game with national and local interest.

You CANNOT ACQUIRE THE RIGHTS! They are not for sale! The Big 10 spent millions for their network. They want consumers to buy it...NOT sale the content.

Then why is Rutgers vs Kansas on Sunshine Network (Spectrum in Manatee County) on Saturday? Seems USF VS Illinois would have been a better choice.

I realize this could be a Big 12 thing since the game is at Kansas, but still....

But my point is this is impossible because of broadcast rights. Further, the university and conference have no control over non conf away games.

And my point is how did the Conference, USF, local television not anticipate that exposure of a team getting votes in both polls be good for the Conference, School, local interest be worth acquiring the rights to show the game. Television on Saturday's are littered with games that almost no one in the Tampa Bay Area could have an interest in (how does East Carolina at Va Tech sound on WTOG?). USF vs Illinois would be a ratings winner compared to some of these games. Television is a business searching for ratings.

  8. How it it possible that there is a discussion about going the route of doing this sketchy thing or or that slightly illegal thing to see a USF - Big 10 game. First how is it not  one of the Tampa Bay channels that is showing the game. It would have to be worth the viewership especially after the game yesterday, former Buc coach angle, Chicago, etc. Another thing is if the league wants to call itself "P6" how can they not arrange to have one of there higher profile teams visible on TV? Coach Strong yesterday called out the local press but next weeks game not on local TV or at least easily viewed is far worse. It is a ridiculous situation.
