  1. I have no problem with the Alumni Assoc. or someone doing that.

Mr. Douglas Manheimer, chair of the Florida State Athletics Hall of Fame, personally invited the Sound Machine to play at the game. "We had heard a lot of good things about NCCU's band and were impressed with their performance at the Honda Battle of the Bands," said Manheimer. "Since the Chancellor of NCCU, James H. Ammons, and the Band Director Jorim Reid are FSU graduates, we hoped as members of the FSU family they would accept our invitation."

But the Chancellor and Band Director at NCCU were FSU grads.  Special case here.

I would just rather support our program if funding were to be involved.

  2. I've never heard of a high school band being a sub for a college band IN the stadium.  Maybe little pep rally things or something, but not AT the game.

High School or College, the band sounded pretty good during the game. They were there, I watched the game.

Besides, you won't get all of the school songs and YOUR band!

I think a couple of school songs is better than the ZERO school song we would get if the HOT doesn't make it.  When you don't have a great budget you shouldn't dismiss things so easily w/o exploring them.

I didn't "dismiss" it, but its not my call anyway.  We would have to pay them anyway, I'd rather support our program.  In my eyes, either send our program or SAVE the money and make the program less dependant on rentals and such, so they can afford to attend more trip in years to come.  Either way, I'd like us to boost our stuff up before paying for some second rate HS or college band to play a few songs at this point.  But, just my opinion.

  3. UCLA and Florida State have already purchased a total of 21,500 tickets for their fans, leaving approximately 17,000 tickets for the game.

The previous Emerald Bowl attendance record was 29,000 two years ago, but Cavalli said about 35,500 tickets have already been sold, with another 3,000 complimentary tickets already committed to various officials and organizations.

  5. It would be cool for the band to go... always has a positive effect on the game.

Anyone have an extra $60,000?   :-[

why not get a local (from Auburn) high school band like FSU did for their NC State game?

I've never heard of a high school band being a sub for a college band IN the stadium.  Maybe little pep rally things or something, but not AT the game.

Thanks for the idea, but I wouldn't do it...

  6. because it held the honor of hosting the first ever entire Brett Favre game I watched (Southern Miss, 1990)

    Did Madden write this?

I wasn't entirely excited about this matchup, only because these two teams seem like they should be in the same conference. It's bowl season, I want interesting interregional matchups, not bowl games straight out of Conference USA circa 2004. To make matters worse, ECU fumbled the ball on the second play of the game, leading to the game's deciding touchdown by USF one play later.

Let's face it... it was was circa 2004.  Back when we whoop ECU then... nothing different.

None the less, we are bowl champs for the first time.  We have time to REALLY make a name for ourselves.  This season opened the door.  Think of it as leaving our "past" behind us.
