  1. In defense of Coach Smith, Miami showed that they were gonna stack the line to stop Hall. Their D-line was over powering our O-line. Our QBs were throwing very inaccurate passes mostly right into Miami's hands. Our receivers showed an inablility to catch. Add to that the fact that you are playing a great defense that is possibly the fastest defense in College, which eliminates reverses and bootlegs. With all of that, what do you call? I saw the O attempt screens, draws, short passes, intermediate passes, zone runs, power runs, etc. Nothing was working! I can't really fault Coach Smith's play calling on this one.
  2. Very correct, our only problem is our QBs are not accurate enough to pass. And if by chance they don't throw it ten ft over the receivers head or in the dirt, our receivers have not show the concentration it takes to make those needed catches consistently.
  3. My impression, first is that Miami has a very very good defense. And aside from the fact that our quarterbacks are very inaccurate passers, to me what really showed tonight was the difference between our OL and the UM DL. They seemed bigger, were faster, and apparently stronger. The run game had no success because we were consistently being beat on the line. In the pass game, again our OL let us down by letting guys get pressure. Before USF can emerge as a big time player, yes they need a better QB, but they must start getting the top OL prospects.
  4. One of the most important aspects is going to be Coach Smith's play calling vs. Miami's defensive alignments. I can't imagine the defensive coordinator for UM being extremely confident in having young and inexperienced DB's in their first game. Because of this, Miami may be forced to play a more basic defense and may not be able to use a lot of blitzing, especially if we throw out 4 WR formations. If this is the case, then, Miami won't be able to stack the line and we should be able to use our advantage which is running the ball. As far as PJ is concerned, yes, he must complete passes, but more importantly, if he can manage to scramble for a few first downs, then we should be able to sustain drives on them.
  5. I want to make it clear also, that most of USF's players are not I-AA talent as was written earlier. From day one, USF has been recruiting I-A talent, yes, in the begining there were some I-AA talent, especially with walk-ons. But even in the early years, I can say from personal experience, that myself and at least 30 or 40 other players turned down offers from I-A schools like Clemson, NCState, Louisville, etc. So please, do not dishonor current or former Bulls by saying they are just I-AA talent.
  6. Drivin down from Ft. Lauderdale with 8 others. On a side note, I heard parking down there is funky, anybody know any details?
