  1. Another complete and total failure by the AAC. This conference is pathetic.

A conference is only as good as the teams in  the conference. So without a marquee team that travels in droves in non-P5 conference do you really think we are going to beat out P5 schools for bowl games?

Hopefully next time we are fortunate enough to have a bowl game against a P5 schools are fans can be motivated to actually get excited about the game. These things matter if we are going to build a bigtime program some folks believe we are entitled to have just b/c we play in Florida and can roll a few footballs on to the field.

  2. Media/pay site screwed the pooch? So when Taggart says publicly how excited he is to have kept Scott on his staff, when McGillis talks about it being Taggart's best recruiting job in the month of February to keep Scott on staff when two elite programs wanted him, we're supposed to leave that alone and not write anything, knowing that Scott could change his mind and leave? C'mon now ...

Not worth it Greg.... BW lives in his own reality that's separate from the logical world.

So did he leave? Kind of seems like my reality is actually....you know.... REAL!!!!! Not saying anyone was really wrong to report what they did, but they definitely missed the story. It's kind of the problem inherent in the 24/7 news cycle. Half the the stuff isn't true because no one has time to verify stories any more. Nature of the beast. Greg is usually better than most but the pay sites are rife with scuttlebutt and inaccurate info.

It was one of the pay sites that broke the story and the same site that reported that he was staying. This was ultimately confirmed by USF. Things changed b/c that same site reported that they were hearing rumors that this wasn't done and UM was still trying to hire him. 24 hours later Scott was a Cane. Seems to me that the pay site got it right.

  3.

Read this, and tell me you're not relieved he didn't come here. It's funny how excited he is about UK's passing attack, saying it'll be pattered after Texas Tech, #2 in the country. UK was 106. This guy loves himself. http://blogs.courier-journal.com/recruiting/2013/02/01/qa-with-new-uk-wr-commitment-jeff-badet/?odyssey=obinsite

you do realize it's a completely different coaching staff and they're bringing in a pretty good class, right?  There's nothing wrong with being excited.  He said they "have to work" to complete in the SEC.  Is he supposed to say "I know we're gonna suck and we'll never compete in the SEC but I came here anyway." ?

UK has a new coach?  And Staff?  That's news to me./sarc/

I'm good with him being excited, but not thrilled about him calling out USF as being upset, and giggling about it.  But, there were a few idiot USF fans on his Twitter, and he's enjoying what could be his moment in the sun.

Read Kemp's interview.  Much more mature.  Badet acts like the world wanted him, and says he runs a sub 4.4.  We'll see.  Again, he's a high school kid, so I don't care about the double negatives or the over boasting.  Guess the tone just annoyed me...but I'm over it.

I laughed at the comment that he ran a 4.37...

There are only a handful of NFL players that can go sub 4.4 nevermind 4.37.  I would be embarrassed if I was that UK reporter to actually report unchallenged that unreal 40 time.

  4. Wow!

USFFreak lives! Greta to hear from you!

Bringing Leavitt back is an interesting idea....but it will never happen. Nor is it the only way to cleanup this mess.

I just remember folks wanting to run him out of town before Paul Miller's lying a$$ ever stepped on campus....so I am not sure how or why things would change. Unless of course we think that USF will suddenly learn not to take their program for granted or realize that we are not entitled to anything.....especially as a program less than 20 years old.

  5. Not "news" to many as I am sure most have seen this with the season ticket package or announced elsewhere.

It was the Trib until, what, five years ago? Then the St. Pete Times became the official newspaper further adding to the meltdown at the Trib and McMurphygate.

Greg's work and coverage seemed to match that of an "official newspaper" in terms of volume and depth. It will be interesting to see the comparison in coverage. I saw some positive comments on Joey Johnston's coverage. Hopefully we'll see great coverage and less wheeling out of the ill-informed Fennelly.

A dedicated beat writer would help...

  6. Some of you guys need to remember how recruiting works. We have had kids who turned out to be GREAT BULLS who initially talked down the university and program. We have kids who turned out to be GREAT BULLS despite being committed to other higher prestige programs just hours before National Signing Day. We have also had kids that said all the right things through the recruiting process and screwed us at the last minute.

If you keep in mind that these players are typically 17 years old and not used to having a microphone being stuck in their face...AND...most importantly don't view it as their responsibility to lift this program to the next level......only then will you truly understand what the recruiting process is all about.

I hope Fraser sticks but not going to bash him for looking at all his options. I just laugh b/c some of you guys bellyache about the "no-names" we are recruiting yet go ballistic when those "no names" our coaching staff discovered start getting other offers. If anything else that means our staff knows what they are doing in evaluating talent.

    Grow up....

  7. So in other words, they don't have enough fans...something that most UCiF fans seem to forget.

What I find interesting is that they only have 15K season tickets. Throw in on average 10K students and their they are theoretically at 25K fans per game, of which only 15K are ticket paying customers. They claim to have an average attendance of nearly 40K fans/game. This would mean that they would have a "walk up" crowd of 15K per game.

Really? Don't think so, and all the pictures the Orlando Sentinel showing large sections at BHNS with empty seats confirms this.

BTW, O'Leary has an incentive in his contract based on avg attendance and season tix. That is why they changed frrom reporting actual butts in the seats to tickets distributed. I laugh b/c they used to bust on USF and other schools for doing the same things.  :D

  8. ...not only do they lose to a bad ECU team but they watch USF dismantle FSU on national TV. The same FSU program they once modeled themselves after...well that was before they became the halfway house for slow, poorly coached tweeners. The funny thing is that they cannot afford to buy out O'Liar. They better be careful or the bank may foreclose on the TinCan if they don't figure out how to get paying customers to fill rthe seats to watch Division I-AA football. Couldn't happen to a better fanbase....we may never see Knightlife and company again. LOL

Everything is coming to fruition just like USF fans predicted 10 years ago...

  9. an advanced google search shows that O'Liar is being really modest about his accomplishments:

He was an original member of the Jackson 5 until a resume gaffe got him kicked out of the family:

Famous NASA Astronaut before he was kicked out for lying on his employment form:

Al Gore stole his Noble Peace Prize

    NPP_GOL.jpg

George W, wasn't the first Bush to steal an election as this picture shows that he was Ronald Reagan's real Vice President selection

    RNC_GOL.jpg

Just as talented on the screen as he is in concert, Georgie had a very successful acting career until he took his method acting too far in True Lies

    TL_GOL.jpg

Not that there is "anything wrong with that", but did you know that O'Liar was the original member of the Village People?

    VP_GOL.jpg

Before the Jackson 5 & The Village People, George honed his skills with a 4 man quartet from Liverpool, England. **** that Yoko!

    WTB_GOL.jpg

As we all heard today, "they just don't get it", O'Liar has a long tradition as a tactful peacemaker and relentless negotiator as shown in the picture of the Yalta Conference
