  1.

If we didn't pay her well, she'd leave for one of those "better" schools, and we'd be worse off.

It seems that there are better Presidents out there - that will work for less...

If she can earn a $750k/yr income - for her work - then by all means

    ...define "better"?

At most major state schools the President doesn't have to fear that the state legislature is working against them and can spend more time implementing the University's strategic plan....instead of worrying of having their budget guttted but 70% b/c they didn't play nice with a local hillbilly politician.

Judy has not been perfect....I think she mishandled the Jim Leavitt and athletics in general....but her first priority are academics and she has done a FANTASTIC job in advancing our University. That makes all of our degrees more valuable.

  2. Wouldn't be shocked if one those coaches will be ours next year.

If we go after any of those guys, our aim is too low. We should go after Urban Meyer or Mark Helfrich. Maybe if the Philly Eagles have another bad year, Chip Kelly will be available.

It is too low. We just shot low with Taggart and the return has not been great. Go get a guy who has won and proved he can win in college football over a period of time. Hopefully none of the talk even matters and Taggart is the guy, but I'm certainly not holding my breath.

    Like Skip?

Yup. Like Skip. I can't stand Skip Holtz, and don't think he is a very good coach, but I'd rather bring in a guy who has won somewhere consistently instead of someone who had a career record of 16-20 at Western Kentucky. What Taggart managed to do there was impressive, but does that mean he's ready to take the step that he was hired for here? Doesn't look like it.

As much as the Holtz years pain me and I think he's most at fault for our downfall, I still think at the time it was a solid hire. I was skeptical from the get go with Taggart and 2 years in I still am skeptical.

Taggart inherited a dumpster fire in terms of talent...including a huge vacant hole at the most important position on the field that was/is QB. I doubt many coaches on the list above would do very well with A freshman QB at the helm.

For me at least I would rather take my chances with a coach that can recruit and learn the finer points coaching on the job than a guy like Holtz that was never a great recruiter and a questionable game day coach. Worst case scenario if the guy that can recruit gets fired he leaves a good roster for the next guy vs the Holtz type of coach that couldn't do either and leaves the next guy a complete reclamation job.

    Ouch...

  4. Wouldn't be shocked if one those coaches will be ours next year.

Why would any of these coaches come to USF if they are likely going to get fired after three years?

secondly why would we hire anger young coach as many fans obviously have patience for a coach learning on the job?

Unless we completely tank this year taggart deserves at least another year if he goes 6-6.

I just laugh b/c many of same ppl who were knocking Leavitt for only win 8-9 games/year and wanted him fired are the same folks telling how much they miss him on CJL's new Twitter account. smh...

  5. Why bizzare?  Apparently since the team is going to be going (back) to the spread offense, and Mike is primarily a pocket passer, the fact that he is looking for a pro-style offense team is quite logical IMO.  I like Mike and wish him all the best wherever he lands.

While I agree that it's not exactly "bizarre" I don't think the change to a spread offense was the major reason but rather just White's ineffectiveness and inconsistency as passer. While White is not a running QB...a lot of "spread" offenses put up crazy numbers with a pro style QB that can get the ball out, make quick decisions and most importantly be accurate. At least Bench and Flowers can use their legs if they can't throw the ball whereas if White isn't making good decision or good throws can't extend plays with his feet.

I wish Mike well and feel bad that his development was hurt by Taggart having no choice but to play him his freshman year when he wasn't physcially or mentally ready to play. Hope the kids get a fresh start somewhere and does well.

  6. I've been a season ticket holder of 8 seats since day one. I understand that some folks are upset at the change but you can't make everyone happy.

for me at least, I have always viewed my season ticket costs as a donation to USF. I was surely not paying Green Jacket level fees for the pleasure or value of watching USF play Hofstra or Southern Piss back in the early days. Instead I have always viewed my combined ticket costs and donation as doing my part to grow USF football. My years of 'loyalty/patience' paid off during our 'glory days' in the mid to late 2000s and that prompted me to increase my donation as my income and disposable income grew. Nobody forced me to do this, instead I did b/c I believed/believe that this football program was worth investing.

Bottom line should be simple: if the new plan makes sense for you great...take advantage of the opportunity and go to as many games as possible. If it doesn't don't feel guilty or angered by the changes. IMHO, the new administration is trying undo the damage, neglect  and sheer incompetence of the last AD....while trying to sell a product that is not very good on the field....right now...and playing in a lesser conference situation. The biggest thing is if you want this program to rebound and recapture it's huge potential of just a few years ago..then everyone needs to go to games. you don't need to buy season tickets...just simply show up on game day get your ticket from the box office or scalper and cheer on your Bulls. Taggart and company need to turn it around ASAP....but we need fans old and new to do their part as well.

    my $0.02

  7. CWT is a Dead Man Walking, what did you expect?  That's just ONE of the major reasons Taggart shouldn't have been given one more month on the job.  At the end of next year, that's where Taggart will end up, as a position coach at OSU, which is where he belongs.

Dead man walking unless he has a winning season next year, which I think can happen and USF needs to happen b/c the last thing we need to do is pay another coach not to coach and start from scratch again with another head coach.

  8. It all goes back to Judy just like us getting stuck in this crap conference does....but hey go ahead Judy apologists

Tell us what P5 conference Judy is responsible for keeping us from getting an invitation....

Thanks, I'll hang up and listen.

Btw, JUdy efforts would be a lot easier if our fanbase actually showed up to games.

  9. 1. Programs are not built overnight. Most schools do not do like auburn did and go from worst to first. You have to get a roster that will fight till the bitter end, and then get a player who will win 5hat game for you. We have two such players who I learned this season who have stepped up with the game on the line. One is named Mike white (see our games against tulsa and smu) and the other is Marlon Mack (see western Carolina and uconn).

    2. A lot of you talk about the program's inability to afford a new head coach. Well, chickens must hatch to produce more chicken eggs. Without us renewing season tickets (and donating to the program for some of you), there will be no chickens to pay for a new coach.

    3. We have mostly freshmen and sophomores playing. The only way they get better is by learning and playing and practicing. Agreed, wulff bombed this season. He was horrible. But ask will muschamp if a new offensive coordinator saved him this year. Forcing Mike white to have to learn from a 3rd offensive coordinator will nor help his development. You want to develop bench? Fine. But a new OC will not make him better if he has to figure out who to listen to in his final year as a quarterback.

    4. Mark Harlan has played it smartly as an athletic director in his first 9 months on the job. He has gone out and sold the program hard, to the students, to the tampa bay area, and surely to the donors. If he retains taggart, he will do so knowing his plan forward. My best guess is that he will find a way to squeeze taggart out without firing him if he must to save money. Taggart has one year and I think we can say that with certainty. After that he will be fired no matter the numbers if there are no results on the field. And here's the thing. If you don't believe in Willie taggart, at least believe in mark Harlan. He's young, he's motivated, and he's driven. And if you support him, then I ask you to show your support by renewing your season tickets. By making a donation. He makes no excuses. He does not lie to you and tell you that we're doing great. He sees the harsh reality of usf athletics. But he sees opportunity, and a chance to build something for tampa. Today I ask you to stand with usf athletics. I ask you to stand with mark Harlan. I ask you to stand with that team, not knowing what 2014 held, got in the weight room and on the field for spring practice and busted their ass to get stronger. I ask you to stand with that basketball team that busted their butt in workouts and decided that they're not interested in losing. I ask you to stand with our women's basketball team, which right now carries the banner for usf in sports. Please don't give up on supporting usf. Because the day we the fans, we the alumni, we the boosters, we the green and gold say "football? I'll renew when they start winning", is the day that this program should be shut down. Because usf athletics requires every single one of us.

Join me my fellow bulls. I love all of you. I'll see you at the sun dome.

    GO BULLS!

    Great post!

You support your Alma mater through the good times and bad...especially the bad times b/c nobody else is going to do it for you.

  10. Factor in the lesser competition in Tulsa and WU. Stats like this mean nothing to me

I guess you are forgetting to factor in all the true freshman who are playing b/c there aren't any other better options on the team.

Screw the stats, if you want to understand why this team is struggling so much you have to look at all the young players who,are playing but ar nt ready. Then ask yourself WHY they have to play? Throw in that this program hasn't recruited a credible QB a since BJ Daniels...and it should become easier to understand why we struggle. Taggart inherited a dumpster fire, in a crappy conference with a fanbase that got spoiled with all the quick success.

BTW, if Judy isn't happy with the team's performance perhaps she should have opened up her pocketbook a little bit more when searching for experienced assistant coaches to complement a rising young head coach....gone out and hired someone with more experience who wasn't an old retread looking for a paycheck (Butch Davis) or looking for a one year gig(Petrino).

Some of Taggart's game day decisions drive me nuts but so did Leavitt's. The bottom line is you can't fire a coach every two years without making this a toxic program for prospective quality future coaches and any hope of establishing some longterm consistency and stability.

  11. We're not winning another game, much less 3 more.

    Too many mental mistakes

No proper blocking from the oline

    no rush from the dline

White has legs of stone and arms of rubber

receivers have legs of rubber and hands of stone

    defenders can't tackle.

Time to start playing for next year, cause this year's over.

Play ALL freshman, all the time, from here on out. We're going 3-9 anyway, so let's give them the reps.

    What game are you watching?

In case you haven't figure it out we are playing a TON of freshmen, especially on defense which is why you have blown coverages, missed assignments and high school kids getting mauled by grown men every other play. The fact that we have so many true and redshirt freshmen playing obviously points to the fact that the guys left over by Holtz aren't very good. So given those options....cannot you blame the staff for going young? Unfortunately when you play so many young players you see games last night.

It's not about excuses but the reality of having a COMPLETE reclamation project.

The coaches are coaching ...for a lot of these kids it's like drinking like a fire hose on what they are being asked to do ...which is very vanilla to begin with.

Oh btw, USF has never been very good on the road. I miss the CJL days but stop acting like he ever won 10 games or won games that matters in conference.

To echo this, Leavitt's team had a terrible time up in Cincy. It was Holtz that won that game with Leavitt's team. But if losing to Cincy on the road is a good sign for CWT then I amall cool with it. We must beat SMU! So that is at least 4 wins. Would be nice to beat Houston at home to give our bowl hopes a chance. I will keep believing until we are officially eliminated. That is what a fan should have their mindset on. Not like we are betting the farm on USF to make a bowl game this season.

I will keep the faith as well until the season is over and look for significant strides in year three.

IMO we should have a chance in at least three games. So whether we finish 5-7 or 6-6 with a shot at a Bowl game the year was an improvement from the last three.
