  1. To Tbull:

USF stopped UL? UL had 493yds of offense. USF had 251yds rushing,5 of 10 passing, and kickoff for TD. Sounds like missed opportunities, soft D, and poor special teams play for UL. 251yds rushing against UM(in your dreams). USF will be forced to pass. Our DBs will be licking their chops. By the way, I think its overdue for Hester to return one(maybe 2) for TD. Night game at OB. It will be a fun night if you're a CANES fan!

If you read the box score it wasn't quite missed opportunities. L'Ville was only inside the red zone 3 times and they scored twice. Would you like to see less total yds given up, sure, but I'll take giving up 500 yds and 14 points of offense when you're keeping it between the 20s over giving up 300 yds and 28 points.

As I've said before, from watching these teams this season it APPEARS as if this game would be a defensive struggle with the team making the least mistakes or connecting on the big play coming out on top.

Here's to hoping that team is the Bulls!!!!!

  2. There is no way that could be true Reaper, in another post another one of these wonderful fans talked about how they did so much on "limited resources"  ::)

At this point I can't wait until the game is over and we don't have to listen to anymore "Well we're Miami so whatever we have is better than what you have.......You're a team of Miami rejects........We're the U, 5 championships.....blah blah blah"

PS: It was a pleasure meeting and talking to you after the L'Ville game.

  3. Advantage who? It can only be UM in every phase. You all have got big heads. Yes, your program is on right path but wake up and smell the coffee.

Fla speed vs Fla speed: Difference is UM has twice the amount of speed. Our back ups can match your speed! Hang with us for a quarter (probable) but definitely not four.

Our team is a threat on every play on both sides of ball. USF will be smothered because of pressure to play perfect on every snap. Drives will have to be long and grinding.

Yes UM offense has not been consistent but they have and are improving. The big play threat is always there.

Injuries are not as big as you think.Maxey will play!!! USF not a great pass offense. Doubt that the QB will have time to throw. Point is our defense is incredible!! USF has never seen a D like this one. USF will not be able to run so I guess you are going to beat us with the pass.NOT!!!!

Great win last week. Enjoy  it. Because now you're playing the "U".  5 natl champ. vs 9 years in existence

And who has the big head here? Are a lot of people probably a little more confident than they should be after the biggest win in program history, sure, but everyone also realizes the battle that we face.

To say that you guys have the advantage in every aspect of the game is a little overzealous IMO. At this point in time defense is your strength and defense is our strength. You don't keep an offense that scored over 30 points in 13 straight games to 14 points by accident.

Every cliche has been used and will be used until kick-off Saturday (play perfect, control the clock, run the ball, create turn overs, good special teams, blah blah blah). Once that ball gets kicked off its 4 quarters of football, which USF brings to the table every Saturday. All I can say is the "U" better not understamate this U, or else you could be in for a very long night

  4. That is nice and all but you have a big game this weekend.   Yes you crushed us and we have NO EXCUSES but if you don't play even or even beat the Canes it will be all for naught.

Not only are you playing for yourselves but you are playing for the Big East.

Don't quite understand how crushing the concensus pre-season favorite to win the BE and perhaps go to the Nat'l Title game is all for naught if we lose an OCC game, but then again, what do I know  ::)

Does it help the Conference as a whole if we go down and beat Miami, of course it does, but how can you say that dominating Louisville means nothing if we lose.

By the way, how come it was never a big deal when Florida State was cruising through the ACC every year with no competition and Miami was single-handledly carrying the Big East until Virginia Tech stepped it up in the past 7 or 8 years, but now the Big East deserves no credibility at all because a couple of schools left?

  5. USF Defense vs. Miami Offense

Miami has a decent number of playmakers on the offensive side of the ball, but seems to lack the explosiveness that Louisville had possessed up until last Saturday.

As always, first and foremost we have to stop the run. If we don't stop the run early and our LB's get caught cheating up, Miami has the ability to kill us on the play-action to Olsen (TE).

If we stop the run and force the Canes into obvious passing situations it defenitely plays to our advantage. Wright is young and seems like he can be forced into at least a mistake or two if he gets pressured.

IMO opinion I definately believe we have somewhat of an edge in this department because we have a lot of team speed on defense. With the exception of the two big runs against PSU we haven't given up the "big play" and everyone flies to the ball on every play.

    USF Offense vs. Miami Defense

Defense has long been a strength of the Canes and this year is no different. They have playmakers in all areas of their defense and definately have the ability to make us one-dimensional.

As has been said before, this game will be the true test to see how much PJ has improved. We will be hard pressed to find ways to "hide" him and I think Miami will do everything in their power to make PJ show he can beat them.

Hopefully Louisville was Amarri Jackson's coming out party and he will emerge as a go-to threat in all facets of the offense.

    Special Teams

This is the area that scares me the most. Our return game hasn't been too bad, and if Chad Simpson emerges as a legitimate threat to break one everytime he touches the ball will continue to improve, but at times our coverage has shown the propensity to give up a big return or two. The kick coverage must be tight and contain Hester from making the game-changing play like Chad made Saturday.

    Coaching

It will be interesting to see how the USF coaches follow-up their impressive performance from Saturday. From the opening coin-toss they seemed to make all the right calls and stay a step ahead of the Cardinals on both sides of the ball.

I expect both teams to put an addeda emphasis on stopping the run in an effort to put the game in the hands of the QBs and utilize their defensive strengths (speed and pressure).

My Prediction: Bulls 21   Canes 14

Of course thats just my opinion, I could be wrong

  6. I'd say it's less of a statement and more of a fact.  Because it's a victimless crime, everyone assumes it's okay to do.  The fact that they brought out extra TSA people before the game ended, showed that they didn't want anyone on the field.  USF fans still felt compelled to jump onto the field and run through the TSA employees.

And you are obviously missing the point that not everyone is condoning people running onto the field, rather showing their extreme displeasure for the out and out beatings that were taking place on the field. As a front-row witness to some of the tactics that were used by TPD, HCSO and TSA "security" I was disgusted and furious by the actoins being taken and pleasure shown in taking these actions.

In response to your last request, I cannot see any other reason for asking for my email except for sending me hate mail or threats because my opinion differs from yours.

By making that statement you are obviously just a "Guest" to these boards, and an unwelcome one at that. If you were a regular you would know that thats not how things work around here.

  7. Haven't gotten to see a lot of the national coverage from AS (After the Slaughter), but to most we're probably still seen as that little old school that caught lightning in a bottle.

All off-season the talking heads in the national media were cramming Louisville and Pitt (until that stellar 0-3 start) down everyone's throats as the only teams worthy of winning the BE.

Now this will probably serve to 180 their opinions and make them talk about how overrated Louisville was and continue their rhetoric on how the BE isn't BCS worthy.

All i know is, personally, going down to Miami isn't about putting up a good showing anymore. After putting it on Louisville the way we did there is no reason to not go down there and expect to win. This game will be the TRUE test to see how far PJ has come because Miami has the personnel in all areas of their defense to try and make us one-dimensional and show that our passing game can win a game.

We already did it Saturday, but lets go down there and show that we can stand toe to toe with the big boys and deliver the knockout blow.

PS: Wonder if that writer in Pittsburgh is still including us in the "soft" part of their schedule    ::)

  8. will they have game specific shirts

they could have them on the web and we could pre-order

i would love to have a t collection of all home games, wear them once and store for eternity!

They were actually selling game-specific shirts at the bookstore a couple of seasons ago. I'm no longer a student and don't get by there much, so I don't know if they still do or not, but you were able to buy them game by game or order them in bulk (meaning one for each game) at a slightly discounted price.

  9. I know when the TCU game was coming up on ESPN and everyone was wondering about the field being painted, the cost was somewhere around $5,000 - $6,000 to have it done.

The only thing I can think of is the University doesn't see the point in putting out that kind of money for a one-time deal that isn't going to be completely nationally televised (especially if there is the possibility they would be made to have it repainted for the Bucs)

  10. Why Louisville might win: The Cardinal offense features a level of diversity South Florida hasn’t seen this year.  Play the pass, and RBs Michael Bush and Kolby Smith will pick up chunks of real estate on each carry. Crowd the box, and QB Brian Brohm will pick apart any secondary. The Bull defense doesn't quite have the overall talent in the secondary to matchup with the big, speedy Cardinal receivers.

Why South Florida might win: The Bull D has quietly played exceptionally well in September.  They’re the only team that’s kept Penn State QB Michael Robinson in check, rank No. 5 in the country in pass defense, and despite having big leads the last two weekends, have only given up one passing touchdown all year. Traditionally, USF has been one of the nation's better home field performers and will be jacked up for a change to reestablish its solid reputation.

Wow, is there a better example of talking out both sides of your mouth? Is Dan Sileo writing for CFN now?

  11. 1. What "Elvis" will show up Saturday?

Are we talking fat Vegas Elvis or Comeback Special Elvis?

    2. What was your favorite Elvis movie?

Honeymoon in Vegas (the Flying Elvises stole that movie)

    3. What is your favorite "BULL" Statement?

    Bulloney

    4. Prefer to be at BULL Games or watch on TV?

BigShoop:The opposing team cant hear you yelling at them if you're at home. Yeah, what he said

    5. If "Rocky" wasn't our mascot's name, what would you name it?

    Horny

  12. Another one from TSA:

The parking lots will open early again for this game and the West Virginia game.  USF has decided not to put their logos in the endzones this weekend.  It is a very time consuming and costly process.  Let me know if you need anything else and enjoy the game this weekend.  Go Bulls!

    Mickey

  13. Why not Local ABC 28 or Brighthouse here in Tampa???

    Thats a good question.

I would say its following the old NFL "blackout" rules about not televising a local game if it was not sold out, but ABC 28 did pick-up 3-4 games in our inaugural C-USA season if I'm not mistaken.

Just a thought but it may be a marketing ploy on the part of USF. Maybe they think if people can't watch it locally on tv they will come out to the game (even though they could go to just about any sports bar and watch it i'm sure)

Guess we just gotta follow in the words of Jim Rome and "Bang the Monkey". It probably wouldn't help for tomorrow, but if the locals show that they want televised coverage of home games on a consistant basis it may help in the future.

  14. Mall Lot is always open.

It appeared last week that the lots on the North and South side of the stadium were open by 2pm, but I believe that was because of the large crowds they were expecting.

Best bet would probably be to call the stadium or TSA and see what they have to say.

  15. Student section will eventually have to expand beyond the North Endzone. Props to all students for the crowd size this season, been nice to see.

Doubt they'll expand the section much beyond what it is now, especially if it would be taking away Season Ticket profit.

Once the demand becomes that high on a consistant basis they'll probably go the way of a lottery or something along those lines (as was mentioned in a previous post by a member of SG committee)
