Congrats to Miami for a great game. They did exactly what we knew they were going to do from a defensive standpoint and we had no answer for it.
Also congrats to our D for a great performance. Only so much you can do when Miami's average starting field position in the first 5 drives is the USF 24.
Lets go on from here and take care of our Big East business
-
I'm willing to bet the area wasn't that way when the OB was built way back when. You're talking about a venue that hosted a Super Bowl almost 40 years ago.
Its probably fair to put it in comparison with the Citrus Bowl.
-
They wouldn't have to worry about holding their jaws, they'd be too busy talking about how we didn't win, they beat themselves. That groundwork has already been laid in other posts.
Its fairly obvious that must be the only way we can win games, it is how we got that "fluke" win over L'Ville :

when you fly you get dehydrated
Amen to that!!!!! **** those tasty little airplane bottles that cost $5 a piece 8)

So does this make me less of a Bulls fan because I got here in '03 and didnt care about USF football before that?
I was here for our first home CUSA game and first Big East game and all the games in between except TCU b/c I went to the Miami FSU game. :
Nah, you get a pass  .
The true bandwagoners are the ones who could care less about the Bulls (or any other team for that matter) until they got good on a consistant basis or won a championship of some sort, then turn around and claim that they were fans even during the down years.
-
"I have been a Bulls fan since Leroy (misspelled intentionally) raised the $1 M to found the program."
"I've had season tickets since 1997."
Get ready for them. Bandwagoners. They are out there on the fringe and they are ready to jump on the Bulls baby. Its a good and bad thing. More fans, more money. More news coverage, more merchandise and more headaches too.
"Bubba" who doesn't know the difference between a cornerback and a quarterback will be wearing the green and gold on his job site and talking about how he never misses a game, even though he has never really "been" to a game.
Local loudmouth ex Gator or Nole fans will soon make the jump too and they will be questioning OUR loyalty and OUR knowledge of the team.
Welcome to sports in Tampa, Florida.........it was the same with the Bucs, it was the same with the Lightning and it will be the same with the Devil Rays
-
My bad, for some reason I thought they played that game at home
-
I don't know, it'll be tough, seeing how they handled the mighty Ohio Bobcats at Heinz Field
-
These are the same Pennsylvania reporters who included us in the "soft" portion of Pitt's schedule.
-
I'll be going............to Hooters in Brandon..........anyone on that side of town feel free to drop in and hang out with the Sec 149 crew
-
What happened to Trev Alberts?
apparently he didn't show up to a taping of something and got canned, at least thats what i recall hearing on the radio.
-
I'll admit I was a little off-base and over the top in some of my comments.
All I was trying to say is everything will be looked at as a whole.
Nobody can take away what we have done on the field of play working on such a limited budget, and I will be right up front when it comes to saying we at least should be looked at when talking about the stronger programs in the state, but when taking the little things into account (travel, painting the field, etc) some of the things we do (or don't do) will still be viewed as second-class.
-
Yes we can ... we're 3-1 and hopefully 4-1 ... tell the players that we can't complain because our budget isn't big enough to warrant them winning.
2 Different Subjects !
Not 2 different subjects, two different areas of the same subject.
On the field - This Saturday will be the true test, but there is no denying what the program has accomplished in its short existance. At this point we are still going to be looked at as below UF, FSU and UM, but definately are the closest to them out of the remaining Florida universities.
Off the field - Its all about the little things, the attention to detail, and I'm sorry but IMO not ponying up the extra cash so that the staff and players can travel to the biggest game in program history in comfort is rediculous.
-
Remember though ... it's the fans that fill that wallet ... He should be hammering the alum and football fans of Tampa.
Go BULLS !!!
And that I agree with.
But at the same time, we can't talk out of both sides of our mouth. We can't complain that we don't get respect and that we deserve to be counted among the ranks of the Big 3, then get upset when we get called out on it with a perfect example of why we are not there yet.
-
and losing to Ohio at home doesn't embarrass the Big East???
all these people can talk about how we don't belong in the Big East now, but let's see how they feel when they're looking up at us in the standings
-
The article in today's Trib:
Brett's a bit ugly on us ÂÂ
And its completely warranted. We can't go on and on about wanting to be considered in the same class as UF, FSU and UM then not open up the wallet and get a plane or two to bring the kids and staff down to Miami.
-
At this point, its basically a dead issue.
After the actions that took place last Saturday its been made pretty clear that we are not allowed on the field anymore and the authority figures on the field will use whatever force they deem necessary to keep it from happening.
Hopefully this incident will bring back the tradition of the players coming over to the student section to "show the love", as the majority of them did during the 2001 and 2002 seasons.
Now lets focus our energies on Miami and the remaining BE match-ups
-
We need to direct this post to the Miami fan that argued that their program does all that they do on "limited resources" because they're not a public institution
-
Did a quick search and couldn't find exact numbers, but I did find this in a article Brett McMurphy wrote about our evolution from 1-AA to Big East:
Outside the administrative offices at 10 this morning, Genshaft and Athletic Director Doug Woolard will raise a Big East flag signifying USF's new conference membership. Some cynics suggest USF - restricted by one of the Big East's lowest athletic budgets and competing in arguably the nation's top men's basketball conference - should instead raise a white flag.

Reason #287643094-73248723-40237218360931453486945 why I hate the Miami Hurricanes and their fans:
"If they were that good and athletic, they would not have lost to a thoroughly unathletic Penn State team. Louisville mailed it in last week, crumbling under the pressure of expectations. This is just another crappy OOC game for us to work on things with. This game deserves no more analysis then the Duke game does."

Thats because for 95% of them thats the only smack they have to bring to the table.
With the exception of a few, they can't come in and give an intellegent analysis on why they will beat us. Its all talking about past accolades, our weak schedule and how everything should just be handed to them because they're the big, bad U.
At least we are man enough to point out our weaknesses and actually know there are areas of our team that can be exploited. I don't recall reading one Miami post that has said that, with the exception of talking about injuries.
-
I think he'll be able to muster up the energy for that
-
Nice Touch.......as if I couldn't be more fired up for the game!!!!!!!!!!

CFN on potential BCS mess
in USF South Florida Bulls Athletics
Posted
At this point its all basically a matter of speculation based on how the polls sit right now.
This is from the BCS website:
The BCS also notes the importance of traditional and regional considerations regarding team selection. Specifically, the four BCS Bowls will host the following conference champions in the years the national championship game is not played at their site.
These consideration tie-ins include the ACC or Big East champion in the FedEx Orange Bowl, the SEC champion in the Nokia Sugar Bowl, the Big Ten and the Pac-10 champions in the Rose Bowl and the Big 12 champion in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.
Should a BCS Bowl's host champion be ranked number one or two in the final BCS standings, when such bowl is not hosting the national championship game, the number one- or two-ranked team shall move to the national championship game and the Bowl shall select a replacement team from the BCS pool of eligible teams. The pool will consist of any Division I-A team that is ranked among the Top 12 in the final BCS standings and has achieved at least nine wins during the regular season (excluding NCAA-exempted contests).
